Chapter 3
warm water, sharp teeth
Steam coiled off the water of the hotel’s hot tub. Mira, one of Max’s stable of witches, was lounging comfortably, happy to be by herself, but her solitude didn’t last as the door to the pool area opened.
“Oh my God,” she snorted, then raised her glass in salute to Selka, another witch on the trip, also Max’s current plaything, “That must be some sort of record. Congratulations.”
Sleka dropped her robe and slid into the tub. “Gotta be honest, I was actually in the mood, but…you know me, I like a little warmup before.”
“I do know you,” Mira grinned, handing Selka a glass of wine, being careful of her freshly polished nails, “I brought another glass. I figured he would be quick-”
“Too quick,” Selka scowled, “Like normal, but seriously. It’s got to be some sort of mental problem. He’s otherwise…adequate. Currently passed out.”
“Have a seat,” Mira laughed, “we can share all our horror stories of Max in bed.” She held up her glass, “We’re alone. Perhaps I can assist with your…situation.”
“Mmm, I’m gonna take you up on that,” Selka grinned slyly. “The man’s got all the stamina of a wet napkin, so one glass of wine and I’m down.”
“I’ll do that too if you want,” Mira smiled, “I’ve been where you’ve been.”
“Horny and in the middle of nowhere,” Sleka laughed, “It’s a living.” She settled next to Mira, and they clinked glasses. “He’s acting like a little kid with this trip tomorrow. My guess is a big build-up and no delivery.”
“Mood killer, just sayin',” Mira returned quietly, “I wasn’t sure, and I don’t want to spend all day in that place. The creep factor alone. I need my aura bleached.”
“We’re miles from a good meal,” Selka said, then smirked, “Max has found time to focus on your ass. I have, too.” Their glasses clinked again. “Thank you.”
“The male gaze is like a cursed lens flare. Hard to miss yours.” Mira slid over on the bench; their thighs did more than graze each other, and under the bubbling surface, her hand slid up Sleka’s leg, “Mind if I tease you a little?”
“Mmm,” Selka hummed, then parted her legs, “please do, and I’ll return the favor.”
While her fingers began tracing the inside of Selka’s upper thigh, Mira’s curiosity had gotten the best of her, “Come on. We both know he’s found something; otherwise, it would only be us, not a contingent of enforcers, and two other wizards were checking in at the front desk.”
Selka groaned, then brought her knees above the water. She blew out a breath that rippled against the current, “I’m going to be conflicted here. This whole thing is certainly interesting, but so are your fingers rubbing across the top of my clit.”
“We can’t talk demons while I summon yours?” Mira joked, “Slip off your bottoms and we’ll have a chat.”
Tipping side to side, Selka settled back, “Oooff, there,” she gasped, “and there too. It’s just that I don’t want to get caught up in the middle of a ghost hunt and get slaughtered in my sleep.” Scooting lower into the water, the witch spread her legs, “You may have your way with me.”
“Mmm, yes,” Mira murmured, “I’ve seen the things Max likes to poke with a stick. Half of them have teeth bigger than his ego.”
“That’s…large,” Selka groaned between strokes.
“Exactly.”
The bubbles surged again as the tub clicked into a new cycle. Mira paused with her stimulation to pour another glass of wine. Selka growled at the interruption.
“Sorry,” Mira smirked, “Where was I?”
“About to stop teasing me and just fingerblast me. I gotta get one out cause I’m starting to cramp up.” Selka was mostly kidding, “Max teased me for over an hour before he jumped the gun. Just do me.”
“A bit of blue…velvet,” Mira said softly, “let me take care of you.” She reached under the water with both hands. Moments later, Selka slid under the bubbles as her orgasm caused her to slip from the tub bench. Mira pulled her up and held on as the witch’s muscle spasms eased. The brief moment of panic proved to be a buzzkill.
“He’s got secrets,” Selka said, surprising Mira by returning to the other subject, “He’s searching for something. Has been for a while. He can’t name it out loud, but a church basement…in Wisconsin, for god’s sake.”
“Then let's just play our parts,” Mira said softly with one eye on the pool room door and the other on Selka’s chest, “We’re not the ones who should open that door.”
“True.” Having recovered, Selka raised a brow, along with the top of her swimsuit, “You’re staring. Did you have someone in mind?”
“Not anyone local,” Mira reasoned as she pushed her hands against Selka’s chest, “Someone who hasn’t slept with Max. Someone who doesn’t have to pretend to be impressed.”
“That shortens the list,” Selka chuckled as her hand cupped between Mira’s legs, “I’m kinda enjoying our little conversation. Perhaps we should take our wine back to your room?”
“In a bit,” Mira said. She began to scoot her hips into Selka’s hand while Selka fumbled to move Mira’s suit out of the way. With a gasp, Mira put her arms around Selka. “Keep going, that's delicious.” After a groan or two, the witch was back in Selka’s ear, “Ever had sex while someone else watched?” She breathed hoarsely, “I think it’s a turn-on.”
“No,” Selka answered as Mira’s fingers returned to find her vulva again, “Or not that I’m aware of, I guess. Mmm, right there. Don’t stop.”
“Don’t…don’t react, or stop,” Mira suddenly whispered, “because Nolan is just over your left shoulder. I’ve seen him twice. He’s watching us.”
Selka's movements slowed momentarily, then resumed, “Any chance he’s hard? No offense, but I’d like to get railed. I’m guessing he knows what he’s doing.”
Their mutual thrusting increased, “I’m not a huge fan of his personality,” Mira admitted, “but it’s not his personality that I’m interested in.”
“So…we invite him in?” Sleka didn’t answer. Mira asked again, quieter, “Do we add to our tub fun?”
“No?” Selka said softly, just over the sound of the bubbles, “Would you…Will you sleep with me tonight?” Selka lifted her eyes, “Like the whole night? Just be with me?”
Fingers and hips stopped moving, and Mira was stunned, “Oh gods, if you’re as scared as I am? What if we just get dressed and run?”
Selka put her arms around Mira and pulled her close for the first time, shelter, for once, a truly intimate moment. They both knew the truth; still, Selka said it out loud. “We’d be dead by tomorrow afternoon.”
