16. Chapter Sixteen
Chapter Sixteen
Tage
“Oh, fuck,” Lane groans, his hand going to my hair, nails scraping my scalp.
I take his cock deeper down my throat, digging my fingers into his strong thighs.
“I’m going to come,” he warns just a second before he shoots down my throat.
I swallow it all, taking every bit so I don’t make a mess.
It’s lunchtime. We still have half the day to work, and though he has spare suits in his closets, I do not. And I’m wearing dark colors. Smart.
Lane lets out a shuddering breath as I suck the last remnants from the tip of his cock, then crawl out from under his desk.
“I’m giving you a raise,” he pants out.
I laugh as I wipe my mouth with the back of my hand and move to stand up. The moment I’m on my feet, Lane pulls me into his lap, looking at me with something in his eyes that feels too intense.
I don’t look away though. Not anymore.
“I’m serious.”
“You can’t give me money for sucking your dick, Lane. That’s weird.”
“No one will know.”
“I’ll know,” I say firmly. “Please don’t do it.”
“You deserve it regardless.”
“I don’t care. I don’t want it.” I kiss him quickly. “Don’t make me go to HR.”
His head falls back, and he laughs, so I go in to kiss his throat. He always smells so good here. Not like cologne or aftershave or soap, just some kind of smell that’s his. Only his. Nothing you could ever replicate.
He groans lowly before gripping my chin and pressing his lips firmly against mine.
“I never would have thought you’d be this fun.”
My eyes widen. “Rude.”
Shrugging, he says, “You were pretty serious about your job.”
“I still am.”
“Right. But you also just gave me a blow job under my desk.”
“Which is a pretty serious thing. We could get caught.”
“By who? No one comes back here.”
“You never know,” I say, moving to get up. His arms tighten around me and he pulls me closer, kissing me again.
“Lane—” I complain, but it ends with me laughing, so of course he doesn’t take me seriously. He just keeps doing it.
And I don’t hate it.
It’s not the first time I have enjoyed him touching me. Being next to him. Looking at him.
It started off with looking at him, obviously. That was easy. He’s hot. Tolerating him came next. It didn’t take long, but once I realized he wasn’t the asshole I thought he was, being around him was kind of enjoyable. He’s funny. And so smart.
But now… now there’s more. Now there is something that I’m feeling deep in my chest. Something I’m trying to push away because this isn’t the life I want.
And I don’t mean being his assistant and him being my boss.
I don’t want to be involved with someone with the amount of money he has. It’s not the kind of life I want to live.
Yet… thinking about a life with him, it’s not as bad as it was before. Which just irritates me. I wanted to avoid this. I thought getting into this line of work would make me avoid it. A daily reminder of why you don’t get close to people who have money.
I was so wrong.
“I have to get back to work,” I say, pushing on his chest.
“We don’t have a meeting until one.”
“I have other things I need to do.”
“Nothing that can’t wait,” he says, kissing along my jaw.
I can’t help but laugh at his playfulness and the way he’s so carefree.
With him, it’s not about showing off his money. Yes, he has it. Yes, he uses it. But nothing about Lane is showy or demeaning.
He isn’t acting this way because he has the power to shut everyone up in the building and save my job. No, he’s doing this because he wants to.
And honestly, I want it too.
So, we make out like teenagers in his chair until my lips are sore and I’m about to come in my pants. Only then do I escape from his grasp.
“Come on,” he says. “I know you were close.”
“That’s the problem,” I say, stepping further back and trying to catch my breath. “I don’t have anything to change into.”
“Staying in it would be so hot,” he says with a grin.
“And uncomfortable.”
He shrugs and wipes his mouth. “Another day.”
I roll my eyes as I make my way to the door. “Whatever you say.”
When I’m at my desk, I log into my computer, go through the newest emails, sort them, and then start going through the reports and printing stuff that needs to go into the files while snacking on my food, since my lunch break was spent with my boss’s dick in my mouth—resulting in me still being hungry. Obviously.
This keeps me busy until the meeting at one, when I gather my stuff.
Lane is walking out of his door when I get to my feet.
We walk to the conference room together.
Everyone else is already seated. The head of the table is left for us—Lane in the chair at the center and me in the chair to the side.
Sadie is sitting in the back corner, set up and ready to take the meeting notes.
I have my iPad opened to the file with the information Lane may need for the meeting.
We work together perfectly during meetings. If Lane needs something or forgets a piece of information, he looks at me. Most of the time I can give it to him without having to look it up. It’s smooth.
It’s not often he forgets. Lane is always prepared, but I’m here for those rare moments he needs me.
“Thank you, everyone, for being here today,” he begins as he takes his seat. “We have only a few updates to go over today, so the meeting should be relatively quick.”
The meeting is quick, as he said it would be.
He never lies or stretches the truth. What he says, you can expect it to be true.
He goes over team updates and the new job we’ve taken on since we got all the finalities for it.
He goes over the timeline and who is in charge of what.
There are a few other updates, like increases in pay for certain departments and 401k matching.
So, it’s not just me he’s generous with. He isn’t using his money to get into my pants, even if that’s the thing that drew me to him from the beginning. Lane is just kind with his money. He’s kind.
And that has me feeling a little sick, because for the first time, I realize I was entirely wrong about this man. Not just a little. Every notion I had about him was false.
