20. Chapter Twenty
Chapter Twenty
Tage
The walk-in shower takes up about a third of the bathroom with no traditional door or curtain, just glass covering the half near the showerhead to stop water from coming out.
Lane steps into it, turns on the water, and waits just a moment before stepping under it.
I’m sure he has something going on that allows the water to come out hot immediately.
I would. Who likes waiting for the water to get warm?
He runs his hands over his head, getting his hair wet. I take in his toned arms and the way his ribs are slightly more prominent with his arms reached up like that.
I never had a voyeur kink before, but I think I do now. For him. Just watching him really turns me on, and I don’t even know why. It’s not something I can explain or even make sense of.
In the gym. Here. At work. The man is just… sexy.
It’s undeniable.
And so are my feelings.
My heart pounds a little harder as I carefully step out of my briefs and walk into the shower.
I slide my arms around his waist and rest my cheek against his back.
He flinches like he didn’t expect me to be in here, but it takes less than a second for his hands to come down on my arms and hold me.
We stand there for a while, not saying a word.
The room grows warmer, the glass fogging up.
I like being close to him. Touching him. Hugging him. I like him.
“Are we—is this… something?” I ask.
Lane turns in my arms, his hands coming up to cup my cheeks.
“Of course it’s something.”
“No, I mean—”
“I know what you mean, Tage,” he says with a soft smile. “And the answer is this can be whatever you want it to be. But it is something.”
“So, if I just want this to be about sex…”
“Then that’s what it’ll be.”
“But if I want more?”
“Then tell me you want more.”
Goosebumps cover my skin as I look into his eyes. I swore to myself I was getting away from all this, from these types of people, yet I’m drawn right back in.
Is this a subconscious thing? My mind reverting to what it knows because it knows I can’t handle figuring things out on my own? That would be fucked up, but would I ever really know? The brain is a powerful thing, and I’m not sure.
But deep down, I know that isn’t true.
This isn’t about safety.
This is about me falling for Lane.
Because I am happy alone. I am doing just fine on my own. I don’t need him, and I think that’s one of the reasons I’m so drawn to him. He’s what I avoided and yet I’m still here, proving how strong I am because I could ask him for anything and he’d give it—yet I keep telling him no.
I’ve proved to myself that I can do this; that I can figure out my life on my own.
“I want more,” I say firmly, still staring into his eyes.
He leans in to kiss me deeply, his mouth hot and wanting. But he pulls back before things get more heated, and he rests his forehead against mine.
“So do I,” he admits.
We hug for another moment or two, then we wash up and tumble into bed where we jerk each other off while making out messily. It’s so hot and perfect.
“You didn’t mention this being part of your routine,” I say as I grab Lane’s towel off the floor to wipe cum from my stomach and chest. I hand it to him so he can do the same.
“It’s not.”
He gets to his feet, and I wrap my arms around him, kissing his bare chest before looking up at him.
“I’m going to reheat your breakfast.”
“You better put some clothes on before there’s a repeat on the kitchen counter.”
I laugh as I walk away and look over my shoulder. “Would that be so bad?”
“We’re going to be late.”
Shit. He’s right. I don’t even know what time it is.
“I may have to call in sick today.” I gesture up and down my body. “I don’t have anything to wear.”
“You’ll have a late start to the morning,” he says as he walks over to the shelf that holds his undershirts, picking one up. “We’ll stop at your place on the way to work.”
“Oh no,” I argue, shaking my head. “We cannot show up to work together.”
“Why not?” he asks.
“Because people will think something’s up.”
“Will they?”
“Of course they will!”
“And that would be bad because…” He raises a brow.
“Because I don’t need people in the office thinking that I got the job because I’m sucking your dick. Didn’t we go over this already?”
“Fine,” he says. “What would you like to do then?”
I expected more of an argument from him, so I’m lost for words when he asks the question. I don’t know what the other option is. Uber home?
“How about this,” he says, dropping the shirt on the bed and walking to me. His hands find my waist and he pulls me close. “I’ll have Blake pick me up and bring me to the office. You take my car to your place, change, and—”
“That’s even worse! If people see me get out of your car—”
“Park in the garage, in my spot. No one will know. I don’t have employees stationed by my parking spot, Tage.”
I guess he’s right. No one will know I drove his car in.
“Okay, fine.”
“Are you sure?” he asks. I hear the sincerity in his voice, and it warms my chest. He’s respecting my wishes.
“Yes,” I say. “It’s fine.”
Nodding, he steps away, but I grab onto his arm and tug him back. “It’s not that I don’t want people to know we’re, uh… together. It’s just important to me that I know that I’ve got my life together myself.”
He smiles softly, kisses me, then gets dressed.
