Chapter 12
CHAPTER TWELVE
TIGHTROPE BY ZAYN
I wake up in my own bed, rolling over onto the soft comforter. The sun is just now waking up, just like me. I’m surprised I’m even awake this early considering how late the two of us managed to get home last night.
Last night.
My mind reels over everything that happened.
Him kissing me. Touching me. My cheeks heat, and I grab the pillow next to me, covering my face.
Fucking hell, Bellamy Archer lives in my head rent free.
I don’t think I’ve ever been one to blush about the night before but it’s impossible not to when I think of what happened.
Not only was he physically good but he also seemed to genuinely care which was very different for me.
He did what he should, a step that most guys skip, and that’s asking if I was sure.
If I was okay with things. He kissed me like he meant it, and he sure as hell touched me that way too.
I know that stuff wasn’t on the list. I know that we’re doing it because we’re both physically attracted to each other, and that boosts my ego even higher than it was before.
I’ve got plans with him once again tonight. This time he’s told me it’s not a double date, but a triple date. Something I’ve never been on, mostly because I don’t go on dates at all, but that’s beside the point. He said to look “as good as usual,” which only made me roll my eyes.
I plan on looking better than usual. He said we’d be going into Seattle tonight, and I love going into the city.
I love Pike Place, and the pier too which is my first guess as to where this triple date will take place.
I pick up my phone right away and dial Sienna.
I’ve got to see if my thoughts are all in check despite the lack of information Bellamy has provided.
“Good morning,” I hear her voice on the other end of the call. “Actually, is it a good morning? You never wake up this early,” Sienna isn’t wrong in the slightest. I laugh at her comment.
“It is a good morning. What are you doing today, or tonight? Bellamy mentioned a triple date, I’m assuming Lawson is going,” I ask, knowing I’ll need her help with my outfit.
She hesitates to talk at first, and Sienna is never at a loss for words with me. She clears her throat, and I wait for a response.
“Lawson did ask me to go out tonight, as friends, of course.”
I sigh in relief at the fact that she’s going but question why she tacked on the friend bit.
She said Lawson was hot, and she said she wanted him, so what’s the holdup?
I know she didn’t come home with me the night of Leah’s party, but the question I have is, did Sienna go home with Lawson, or did she go home alone?
Sienna is the type of friend to always tell me things when she’s ready, the do it yourself type.
I can ask questions all I want, but if Si isn’t in the mood, or sure of her answers, she’s quiet as a clam, and I have to wait for all the juicy details.
“As friends?” I pry, and she groans.
“Yes, as friends, friends, strictly friends,” She cuts the questions off, and I smirk at her frustration.
Definitely not friends, but this is obviously a conversation for another day so I don’t ask anymore.
“Well, I’m glad you’ll be there. This is one of the dates on my list. Bellamy invited everyone… When you figure out your outfit, can you send me pictures?”
“I always do. Speaking of Bellamy, how is that going?” She asks.
I feel my cheeks heat up again, thankful she can’t see me. She would know right away if she saw my face right now, “Better than anticipated considering I haven’t ended it yet.”
She chuckles at me from her end of the phone.
“I guess that’s true. I’m honestly a little proud you’ve made it this far. Has he kissed you yet? Used his quarterback hands on you?”
I think about his hands and instantly break out into the sweats. Nervous laughter travels between us.
“Well...”
I hear Sienna yell at my answer which wasn’t really an answer. I pull the phone away from my ear at the sound of her squealing.
“Is he good!?”
I manage to make some words out and know she’s never shown much interest in any of my other hookups before Bellamy, probably because this is a bit more than a hookup even though there are no strings.
“Phenomenal honestly,” I admit. “He took me to the field yesterday too. He had me help him work out. We ran together too. Leah actually saw us, she wasn’t too pleased.”
“I could not give a single fuck less about what Leah has to say about you and Bellamy. I’m just glad you guys are comfortable and that this is going well.”
“I’m shocked. But either way, I’ll see you tonight.”
“I’ll send you pictures! I’ll see you later, bye.”
I hang up the phone after her words, pushing myself up from the bed.
I felt really good yesterday after that run.
So I get out of bed, and go straight to my dresser, grabbing track shorts, and a large school shirt to throw on over the sports bra I already have on.
I go into my bathroom, put on deodorant, brush my teeth and my hair.
I pull it up on top of my head, and go back into my bedroom, finding socks and shoes too.
I make my way out of my apartment and jog to the bus stop.
The bus has a stop right next to the field.
As soon as I see the stadium come into view I turn my music up, and once the bus stops I get off and go straight for the stairs.
I make my way into the stadium, my eyes settling on the bright green field, the navy blue and silver Hornets paint is brighter this morning than yesterday.
The dew is making it glisten in the sun.
My eyes catch movement I hadn’t seen before. A person. The second I see his muscles, the tattoo. The lack of a shirt… I stop in my tracks. I watch as he sees me out of his peripheral vision, his head turning and his smile very apparent as he looks at me.
“What are you doing here this early Ryn?” He yells out to me, and I smirk at the nickname.
“I wanted to come and run.”
“Get your ass down here then.”
I jog down the stairs.
“Help me stretch?”
He nods, pulling me into a gentle hug against his bare chest.
“Always. How’d you sleep?” He asks softly as he makes his way behind me, the two of us falling into a comfortable setting like we have the past few days we’ve spent together.
After the run Bell and I shared he drove me home, and I showered and took a really long nap. After that I managed somehow to untangle my hair, and get myself ready from the neck up… Everywhere else is questionable.
I stand in my closet now looking at everything, knowing he’ll be here soon.
I flip through the clothes, ignoring all of the ones on the floor.
I have no idea what to do, mostly because he hardly gives me any details on where we are going, and what my dress code should be.
He says city, and I say, bar or shopping?
He doesn’t understand why it matters. Figures.
There’s a knock on my front door which makes me sigh. I grab my phone and call Bellamy.
“Hello?” He asks.
“Are you outside my door?”
“Considering it’s time for our date... Yes.”
“Great, funny story. I'm not ready so I need you to come in here, take a right, and then come into my bedroom, and help,” I tell him, tucking the phone between my cheek and my ear as I flip through the dresses that hang in front of me.
“How are you not ready? I gave you hours.”
“Well, now you know I need days. Get in here,” I urge him.
“I’m here, calm down. Also, you need to lock your doors. Also, where are you?” He asks, his voice growing nearer and nearer the longer his sentence draws on.
“In here,” I kick open the door, and toss my phone way too far, watching it bounce on the bed.
His eyes scan over me, and he shakes his head as he looks away, his large hand covering his face as he rubs it with a sigh.
“Clothes are necessary for a date,” He tells me, his eyes on my face, not my exposed body.
I’m wearing underwear and a bra. He’s had his hands all over me, and if things go to plan then he’s going to see me like this anyway.
.. If I remember correctly he already saw me naked before I got in the shower the other day.
Maybe this is far too forward, but I’ve never been a modest person.
I’m sure he at least figured out that much.
“Yes, I know that, but you never tell me what we’re doing and then I stress… So which one?” I hold out the two dresses I like the most right now.
A simple black dress, sleek, tight. Small slit on the thigh. I then hold up a yellow sundress, very simple, but bright, and pretty. It’s also tight fitting with the most unique floral pattern. Both are casual but different.
“Yellow,” He nods his head and leans back on his elbows as he stares at me.
I shove the black one into my closet and walk into my bedroom with the yellow.
I take it off of the hanger and step into the sundress.
Once it’s on, I start to open my mouth, but he’s already standing up.
He reaches for me, zipping the dress from behind, his fingers grazing my skin. I’m burning up instantly.
“Thank you,” I scurry away from him, and scramble to grab shoes from the floor.
I hold up a pair of white heels and the pair of Dr. Martens I wear with just about everything.
“Do the boots. I like it when you’re short.”
“Well I like it when you stop talking,” I tell him, frantically throwing the white heels on the floor.
I grab a pair of socks from the dresser in front of my bed and throw myself down on the mattress once they’re in hand.
Bellamy closes the drawer, and I shove the socks, and shoes onto my feet.
I watch as Bellamy holds his hands out, I kick one of my feet up, and he begins tying my shoe for me as I tie the other.
“Did you just use bunny ears to tie your shoe?” He asks me, and I ignore him, knowing he’s just going to make a joke.
