Chapter 30
The world is definitely against me. I can't find the bathroom anywhere.
And here I thought I was good at directions. And I call myself a soldier, what irony.
The heels I'm wearing is killing me, plus the alcohol is taking its toll. Imagine drinking 7 martini glasses and not stopping.
I'm bold considering the ball just started and I'm half drunk, good thing is I have high tolerance for it.
I've been drinking martini my whole life, I mean if you don't build tolerance for it, it's not really your drink.
I've been roaming these white halls since the party started, and yet no bathroom.
I rounded into a corner and bumped into a wall, is that a dead end?
But a large arm snaked around my waist, preventing me from falling down. I looked up and my eyes met grey ones.
My heart skipped a beat. It was the Alpha. Butterflies started to flutter in my tummy, holy shit.
He looks handsome, that's for sure. The clothes he's wearing makes him look like a prince. His look screams grace and elegance.
He didn't wear his mask and for a second, I studied his face that was inches from mine. His eyes were shining, bits of gold around the irises. His long eyelashes fluttered lightly every time he blinks.
Those eyelashes are my weakness-
I fixed myself and pushed him away, standing a few feet away from him.
I glared at him, crossing my arms.
The Alpha fixed himself and looked at me blankly. "And who are you, to speak to me like that? I do not remember giving you permission to raise your head and look me in the eye, pup."
My eyes widened, shit. I forgot, I have a mask on and my eyes are barely recognizable.
He seems to notice my shock and tilted his head to the side. "What are you doing here? No one is allowed to enter this area unless you are royalty or a member of the participants. I do not remember you being in the game. Who are you?" He glared at me, his voice cold.
His eyes were fixated on mine, he was holding my stare, which I haven't diverted yet.
I cleared my throat and spoke as a person below him. "I'm part of the game, Alpha. However it seems I don't stand out for you to not notice me. My apologies but I was looking for the bathroom." I uncrossed my arms and bowed to him, if I want to pretend, might as well go all the way.
When I knew I was far, I sighed loudly. The tension when he's in the room is really heavy.
But it looks like I walked in the right halls this time, I saw the bathroom straight ahead, people were waiting in line for their turn.
Great. What luck.
Sen was disappointed the whole night, she hasn't seen Katie make an appearance, she promised she would come.
She drank her tequila and turned to Van. "She did not come."
They both expected Katie to dress elegantly and attend the ball to at least gain allies by socializing. They didn't want Katie to know that their sole purpose for attending is that they want to catch attention of someone.
Someone strong, powerful, scary.
The Alpha of Alphas.
But it seems like he isn't also here, considering no one feels tense and are doing their thing without hesitation.
The Alpha King is known for his ability and power over the world, he is very influential and has high power. They were waiting for him to show up, but again to their disappointment, he did not.
He is more than a hundred years old residing at the Pack Castle, built by servants. He is mated to the Queen, blessed with two children.
They have been ruling over the kingdom for more than 60 years, and it is because of them that it has become a stronghold, a shelter for the people.
Sen ordered another martini while as Van only drank water, not having any tolerance for alcohol. If he drinks, chaos will rise, literally.
The Alpha arrived awhile ago, alongside him is his Beta, Derek Black has finally made an appearance after all those years of absence.
They hadn't seen Katie's dress because the seamstress wanted privacy in Katie's room. The only thing they know is that her dress is black.
And only one person wears the color, Amelia. It couldn't possibly be her because of her eyes, it was violet.
It was impossible.
Katie has black almost midnight eyes, her eyes were always mesmerizing with its sparks of red around the irises.
That Amelia had violet, it was dark, mysterious. It doesn't scream Katie. Van saw how she looked, but didn't pay attention when he saw her face.
The scream was heard again and the people started to panic, wondering what was happening and where.
The scream was gone, replaced by the sound of the crowd murmuring amongst each other.
The double doors opened up the staircase and a woman came out bloody.
The people gasped and some screamed, fearful of the blood that was slowly coating the woman.
Then chaos started.
People ran to the entrance desperately, pushing each other out of the way, not caring if they rip each other's clothes or when someone steps on a person.
They panicked, all of them wanting to get out of the place where rogues have come.
Sen and Van was pushed out of the room and back into the dark night. Everyone was running for their lives as if they were being chased by a monster.
Some were already crying, fear and despair in their eyes. Sen and Van found their car almost immediately and hopped in, not caring to look back and drives through the dark night, back to safety.
Not knowing, Katie was still in there, fighting with a kind different than her.
And it was her scream they heard last.
It was peaceful awhile ago. I strolled to the bathroom and waited for my turn, I got in and did my thing.
Only coming out to a scream towards my right. I saw a woman getting teared apart by two wolves, both holding her arms with their teeth and pulling her in both directions.
It was gruesome, her blood flew everywhere, staining my dress and my skin. Her body was in half when I looked back, both werewolves successfully killing her.
Then they ran towards us, there was two of them and many of us. Surely, we could fight them off.
But I was wrong. The girls ran towards the other direction, leaving me dumbfounded.
The snarls were coming closer to me. I wasn't afraid, rather I wanted to fight. I took off running and teared my dress while heading to the opposite direction.
I need to buy time and get comfortable, I can't fight in this long gown with a mask on. But I can't risk being seen with violet eyes.
I hate going back to high school times.
I tore my dress just above my knees and I took off my heels, throwing both of it to the werewolves who were chasing me.
It hit them in the head, which made them more angrier than before.
If I can't outrun them, might as well face them. I stopped and turned around, pulling a knife out of my pocket that was built in the dress.
Gotta thank the seamstress for that. They both attacked at the same time but I was able to dodge both.
I rounded the other wolf and stabbed its side, then aimed for its eyes. I succeeded and the wolf fell down, cowering and whining a few distance from me.
Movement from the right caught my attention and before I could move, the werewolf bit me in my arm and threw me across the halls.
I landed on my front and groaned. Shit, it bit my injury. I hissed and stood up, grabbing another knife from my pocket, I lunged at it.
I caught it off guard by completely looking like I was gonna go for its head, but I was aiming for the knife at its feet.
I slid below it and stabbed its belly, all the while grabbing the knife I was holding a moment ago and leaving the new one on the werewolf.
It jumped and whined, getting away from me. The other wolf was having a hard time adjusting to the situation because of its eyes. Without a second thought, I slashed its neck, blood splattered into my face, ending its life in a matter of seconds.
I breathed out slowly and staggered a bit. The pain in my left arm was gone, adrenaline taking over my body.
The wolf that is still alive, took the knife out of its belly by its mandible and hissed when it got the knife out.
It breathed heavily, its torso going up and down. Its head turned to me followed by its body. And before I could blink, it pounced on me.
I ended on my back with the werewolf on top of me, its jaw dropped and bit me in my arm, my injured arm.
I gasped and screamed out of pain and shock, overwhelming the adrenaline. I held onto the knife and impaled the werewolf in its side.
It whined and let go of my arm, flinching to where I hurt it. I took the knife out and stabbed it again in the chest.
It roared and got off of me, taking the knife with it, leaving me vulnerable.
I stood up with my torn dress. The wolf growled at me. It startled me by lunging for my legs, it bit my right and pulled at it.
Once again, I'm on the ground with a wolf dragging my leg.
I struggled against its hold, punching its head with force. It groaned and bit harder on my leg, its teeth dug deeper into my skin.
My back folded, I can feel the pain, it hurts. I have no more knives with me. The first one is stuck to the wolf, and I can't find the other one.
The werewolf was dragging me away from the screams of the people, and toward a hallway where it was completely quiet.
The werewolf bit me hard, I glared at it and continued to push it off, but to no avail.
I groaned. Think Katie, think. What would you do? What would you do when you're defenseless?
I used my other leg to kick its head away from me. My skin teared once more because when I kicked the wolf, it was still biting me. Its jaw let go and it stumbled, losing balance and fell on its butt.
It was shaking its head, like it wants to get rid of something. I took that as my cue to run back to where my knives are.
I rounded the corner while limping, the pain in my leg intensified.
I grabbed the knife on the floor and turned back, and at the same time the wolf lunged at me. Only this time, I am ready and armed.
I got out of the way and it landed on all fours, catching itself when it landed. And within seconds, tried to attack me again. I kicked it to the sides with so much force, the werewolf lost balance and fell.
With little energy, I too, lost my balance as I used the leg that wasn't injured to kick it out of the way, and used my other leg to hold my ground.
My leg and arm hurts a lot, blood slowly coming out of my skin and my energy is low. If this fight continues, I will die.
I stood up, barely missing the angry wolf that jumped on me. It recovered and attacked me again. We both landed on the ground with a thud.
We rolled over and hit a wall, me on top which gives me the upper hand in this situation.
Without hesitation, I stabbed its chest then pulled the knife out and stabbed the side of its head. It cried out, its blood oozing out from its side.
The werewolf was losing energy too, with much force, I ended its life by plunging the knife to its chest, where the heart should be.
I twisted it, the skin cooperated with the force and twisted along with the knife. The wolf howled, screaming out its cry of despair.
And then its head fell to its side, the life leaving it. I got off the wolf and grabbed the knife, pulling it out of its body.
I stumbled, using the wall as support. I need to get out of here. The screams were getting louder and louder, chaos starting. I need to find Van and Sen.
With an injured arm and leg, I walked out of the halls and into another one. I kept going, not stopping even for a second.
I was slower than usual, my injured leg affecting my walk. I turned left to another hall, only to come face to face with five werewolves killing more people. I immediately hid to the first room I saw. The pain in my body worsening.
Where is this place? It's dark so that I can't see much, so I went around to feel the switch and turned it on.
The room was big, empty. The white long curtains were closed, and there were no furnitures. I locked the door and took a seat just a few feet away from it.
I closed my eyes and breathed heavily. I tore a piece of fabric from my dress or what was left of it and tied it to my bleeding arm and leg, stopping the blood flow.
It'll be bad if I lose too much blood.
I sighed, the pain is still there. I can barely feel my body, my mind was hazy and I was losing consciousness.
I hissed when I felt a pang of pain in my leg. I adjusted it to a more comfortable position and leaned back to the wall.
This is bad, my energy...
Before I knew it, my eyelids closed, darkness surrounding me. Sleep welcomed me with open arms.
The pack is in chaos, people running around everywhere.
Somehow, the rogues breached security and crossed the pack borders, aiming for the ball, where the celebration was held.
Unable to request backup, the warriors who were in charge of patrolling were on the ground. Some were groaning and some were crying, the pain in their body worsening by each second.
The rogues entered through the back doors without much difficulty, lunging for the first person they saw.
A declaration of war.
It was horrid, blood covered the halls, bodies on the ground, no sign of life in them.
They attacked with no mercy, keeping quiet as possible. They split into groups of two, making less noise as possible, yet ending more life as quick.
They tore through the doors, killing pack members one by one. There were those who were able to fight back, but they can only do so much with their ability.
The pack is not trained. They only rely on the warriors ability to protect them from danger.
How foolish.
This was obviously a disadvantage to them. No knowledge of combat puts them at a higher risk than others.
Leaving them defenseless.
And the enemy knew it too well, ending their life with no remorse or whatsoever.
The werewolves took over the halls, yet none of them reached the main room yet.
However, one person slipped out of their grasp and into the double doors to the ballroom.
She said something but then collapsed to the floor. Then the screams were heard through the night, invading the ears of the rogues.
They moved faster, ending the pack members life without a second thought.
Two of them took a left, only to come face to face with death herself.
Within minutes, both their bodies were on the ground, no trace of life in them.
The rogues who saw them immediately howled, a warning that two of their people died.
The rogues howled back, wanting to back out and ran back to their home. The leader needs to know of the situation that has taken place.
The two dead bodies were dragged away by their comrades, the rogues retreating.
There were only thirty of them, and ten already died by the hands of the Alpha himself.
Plus, the two rogues that were killed, where nobody knew who had the ability to do it.
The Alpha took out the rogues one by one, his sword bloody, his face ominous.
He was breathing heavily, facing ten wolves and sparring them continuously is exhausting, yet the Alpha wanted more.
More blood to spill.
His eyes were now full red, his wolf out and alert. He was angry, his veins popped out of his neck, his jaw clenching every now and then. His hair was messy and his attire was covered in blood.
He does not look like a prince anymore, the blood clothing him made him look like a monster.
His story is known everywhere.
The Dark Alpha.
Ever since she left, he had succumbed to the dark side, his wolf in control every now and then. Losing her triggered something in him and he became dangerous, destructive, lethal.
The Kingdom has failed to control him, now he's dangerous even to the King himself.
His name alone is deadly. He hasn't been like this ever since his pack members were taken by humans. His wolf took control and did his best to track his pack members down with only its sense of smell.
He ended in a facility, lights were everywhere and people walking around with papers in their hands.
He mind linked every pack leader he has control of and had them join his invasion.
The facility was turned upside down by him and only him. He killed everyone in the lab, every last drop was spilled.
The warriors were just for show.
And he found them, for a short period of time. Helicopters surrounded the area, backup was coming and he knew he'd kill again if they come face to face with him.
He ended one last life, the human's gun resounded in the room. The Alpha hid, in the darkness behind one of the cages.
A few minutes later, he heard shuffling and sounds of feet walking around the room. He closed his eyes, hiding its bloody red color to fit more into the shadows.
He heard them going out of the room and he stepped out, his wolf form barely fitting in the corner.
Its form stood tall, with its black fur that was now mixed with red. He strode out of the room and out of the facility.
A Luna? They have a werewolf amongst their midst? How infuriating. The Alpha thought.
The warriors followed suit, leaving their pack members behind after promising to come back when the soldiers leave.
A few minutes has passed while they were waiting outside, behind a few trees and rocks that was covered by the night.
When they heard voices, the peeked and saw their members shaking hands with the soldiers and letting them go.
The soldiers left them behind and hopped on their helicopter, going back to their base.
That was were Katie was recognized, not only by the pack members but the Alpha himself who seemed to be mesmerized by her long midnight hair.
His eyes stayed on her until he couldn't get a glimpse of her.
And that is why he is also paying attention to Katie, who resembles the same hair he saw that night.
Only he didn't know it was the same person.
