Chapter Twenty-Five #2
In fact, almost every couple she saw was feeding in a similar way, some vampires even on their knees, teeth buried in thighs or… well, Verity assumed that’s what they were doing as she looked away from one woman who seemed on the edge of ecstasy with a vampire’s head between her legs.
“Angel?” Theo asked as they entered the corridor.
“Hmm?” she hummed, not remembering the question.
Theo slowed, pulling them away from the group, and asked again. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah,” she said, “Yeah, I’m fine. Did you see those girls? The ones at my table?”
Pursing his lips, Theo nodded. “I did, but try not to ask questions,” he said, coming to a stop and tucking a stray hair behind her ear. “Stay out of it for now. We’ll only get in more trouble.”
If Theo knew she was talking to the girls, then everyone else would know too. Well, fuck. Hopefully it just looked like she was being friendly.
“Fine,” she said. “But… I think you should feed from my neck tonight.”
“Not this again,” he said, looking to the heavens for help but Verity went on.
“That’s why we’re going to a private room, right? It’s how everyone else feeds. Don’t you think it looks a bit off that you feed like I’m a good little donor?”
He scoffed. “I don’t think we need to worry about anyone assuming you behave.”
Before he could walk away, Verity stepped closer, running her hands up his body and around his neck. Everyone else had disappeared into the room, leaving them alone in the star flecked walkway.
“Why won’t you?” she whispered, pulling him down until their cheeks touched and she felt rumbling in his chest.
Heat pooled in her core, begging for him.
For his touch, his teeth. His hands and his lips.
She wanted all of him, so bad her breaths came in short gasps when he rubbed his cheek against hers, light stubble caressing her soft skin.
She tilted her head, exposing her neck to him, praying for that burst of exquisite pain.
Why exactly she wanted it, Verity couldn’t say, but she ached for him.
“Verity,” he groaned, the sound just desperate enough to make her think she might actually win. “Sometimes, I really need you to remember that you aren’t the one in charge.”
“Is that so?” Her laugh turned to a squeal as he pushed, pinning her to the wall with his hips and holding her hands above her head.
“Yes,” he said, his nose touching hers. “And I said no necks. Okay?”
Whiskey and cologne, dark eyes and the weight of his body on hers. It was all too much. She only needed to move a fraction and she could kiss him, taste him like he tasted her.
“Why?” she asked, unable to let it go.
His eyes rolled as his groan turned to a growl and he moved, lips trailing her jawline down to her neck.
Her knees buckled and she only remained upright due to his body pinning her in place.
As if reading her mind, he pushed into her, one slow roll of his hips and, holy fucking Phoenar, he was hard.
“Theo,” she begged, his name a curse on her tongue.
Moving both her wrists into one hand, he ran the other down her arm until he held her jaw, thumb stroking her lips. He kissed her neck, feather light, breathing in the lifeblood just below her skin.
“Where to start,” he murmured before kissing again. “For one thing, do you realise how hard I’d need to bite? Wrists are easy, shallow, but necks? I’d have to go deep, and hard.”
She whimpered as he grazed her neck with the softest nip. “Please, I can take…”
Her words were cut off as he slipped his thumb between her lips.
“What about a deal?” he asked, pulling back just enough for her to see the predator staring back. “You break skin, and I’ll break skin.”
What? Bite his thumb? But that wasn’t fair, he was a vampire, she couldn’t just bite him as easily as he’d bite her.
Calling his bluff, she bit as hard as she dared, and unsurprisingly, achieved nothing. “Harder,” he told her, but instead she changed tactics and sucked, swirling her tongue and holding his gaze.
With a feral growl he thrust against her again, his hard length pressing into the building wetness between her thighs. Her head fell back on a moan, hitting the wall so hard a painting hanging beside them rattled.
“Not so easy, is it?” he mused, returning to kissing her neck.
Kiss after kiss, tongue and lips and a whisper of teeth.
Verity could barely take it. The pooling ache stealing all thought from her mind but to get closer, to feel more.
She tried to rock her body into his, tried to breathe around the thumb in her mouth and pull against the hands holding her but it was no use.
He was granite. Immovable. Completely in charge.
“You see,” he went on, “that isn’t even the most important consideration. If I bite you, right here, that wouldn’t be easy to hide. And even if it was, one day, when you grow bored of me, when you decide that you would rather have a human after all…”
Verity fought a little harder at that, at the assumption. Mumbling around his thumb but he still wouldn’t free her.
“When that day comes, and you take another man to bed, he’ll see. Maybe he’ll judge you, maybe you’ll tell him who I was, how you begged for me. But even if you don’t, he’ll know. He’ll know that you were mine first. He’ll know that deep down you’ll always be mine, always wish it was me…”
Pulling her hands hard with a stifled scream of frustration she kicked, but he continued kissing, refusing to free her. Too much. It was too fucking much. She needed to touch him, to run her fingers through his hair and climb on top and… oh gods.
