Sixty-Seven
Autumn sat in silence as she read the handwritten note inside of the scroll:
Little Moonlight,
How I wish I could call you this name in person again. How I wish I could go back to the night we first met. I’ll never forget the first time I saw you, and when you first saw me. Your smile, your eyes, and your kind heart are unmatched.
If you’re reading this right now, it’s because I’m not coming back. My only regret is that we didn’t have longer together. I’m grateful for the time I was able to share with you as short as it was.
These last few years were the happiest in my life. I’m not sure I’ve ever felt happiness before you. I’m not sure I deserved to.
I wish I could do it all over again, except for maybe, the kidnapping, which I deeply regret.
I’m sorry for how that went down. I’ve since had time to reflect on my actions. I would’ve gone about things a little differently. I wouldn’t have been so selfish. I should’ve given you more when I had the chance. I should’ve done what you asked. I shouldn’t have forced you to put your dreams on hold for me, and for that I’m sorry. From the bottom of my heart, I hope you can forgive me. I’m far from perfect, but I think you knew that long before I did.
I’m going to find a way to make your dreams come true somehow. I swear it. Even if I can’t be with you.
A lump formed in her throat. She could barely breathe as she continued. Salty tears streamed down her cheeks.
I need you to go behind the palace and into the great maze. At the center sits a fountain. At the bottom of the fountain, inside of the water, lies a silver orb. Once opened, it creates a passageway to the 25th Universe which exists beyond the map and only in legends. It’s a place no one has ever ventured to. And the only place you will be safe from The Grand Supreme. He’ll dedicate his life to hunting you down. He won’t give you a moment’s rest. And I can't allow that. I want you to be safe.
Please take care of everyone in my absence. And try to be happy. Live a fruitful life.

She sat on the floor in pitch silence. He wasn’t coming back. Her worst fear had been realized. She covered her mouth with her hand, releasing a quiet scream. How could he do this to her? All she wanted to do was be with him.
All she wanted to do was live happily ever after.
They were supposed to be together forever, like he’d promised. Her dreams of a happy life shattered before her eyes.
