Epilogue – Who Says You Can’t Have Everything #2
But it had taken me too long to respond, and so she thought my hesitation was rejection of the idea. Before I could put it to rights, tell her everything I saw and wanted, the hotel PR manager came hustling over, out of breath, saying Andie was needed to resolve some minor tragedy.
She squeezed my arm as she walked away. “I’m sorry. Bad timing.”
“We’ll talk more later,” I promised her, loathing that as she moved away from me, the glow that had been around her for the last few weeks was dimmer.
I’d fix it. It would have to wait until the night was over, but I’d show her just how much I liked the idea of more little havocs running around me.
? ? ?
When I opened the passenger door of my truck, I didn’t even wait for Andie to step out. I just swooped her into my arms and carried her toward the porch.
She laughed, a sweet little giggle she never gave anyone else. It was mine and mine alone.
“I could have walked, Cooper.”
“Wouldn’t want you to ruin those shoes or that dress, baby. I’ve got plans for them.”
“Yeah?” she said, voice turning husky.
I handled the lock on the door one handed, slammed it behind me with a foot, and set her down in the entryway so we could shed our coats.
It was three in the morning, and I should have been exhausted, but I wasn’t.
I was wired. Primed. Ready to finally finish the conversation we’d started in the middle of the venue.
While waiting for Andie to get the marquee closed down, I’d finished up the report on the little hitch in tonight’s event that most people would never know had even happened, since Hannah and Cranky had handled it.
Then, I’d arranged to take the day off with Andie.
Any emergency would be handled by Cleaver and Freeborn, and if they needed someone with more seniority, my dad would step in for a day.
The truth was, I needed this time with Andie, but she needed a damn day off too. She’d been running herself ragged since Thanksgiving.
Once I’d hung my jacket alongside hers and slipped out of my snow-covered dress shoes, I did what I’d been aching to do for hours. I hauled her to me, devoured her mouth, and slid a hand right inside that slit.
She gasped, breath coasting through me, as my fingers slipped under the scrap of lace she was wearing and landed in her heat. The gasp turned to a little hum. That sensual little purr that drove me right up and over the top.
My hands went to her ass, easily lifting her, hips and groins colliding as she wrapped her legs tight around me.
I kept my lips firmly on her sweet ones as I strode down the hall and into our bedroom, glad Luca had spent the night with my parents so we wouldn’t have to be quiet.
I went even harder at the idea of all the noises Andie could make as I came inside her.
But before I could bury myself inside her, I needed to finish our conversation from earlier so that when I finally slid home, it would be with a new purpose.
I’d barely set her down before she was unbuttoning my tux with hurried fingers while I undid the clips from her hair and let all that burnished mahogany tumble about her face and shoulders.
I tugged at the zipper of her dress, pulled the satin material off, and planted my mouth on the little hollow where her collarbone and shoulder met, inhaling the scent of her and nearly forgetting the words I needed to say.
When she was down to nothing but a red thong and equally red heels, I tossed her on the bed. Her lips quirked upward as she raised herself up on her elbows and took me in. As I undid my belt and the button on my tuxedo pants, she bit her bottom lip.
I groaned. “Damn it, baby. This is going to be fast and ugly if you don’t stop looking at me that way.”
She smiled, another soft laugh escaping her.
I tossed my clothes aside and then joined her on the bed, settling between her thighs and slowing us down by locking her wrists above her head with one hand and pressing up off her with another.
“Cooper…” Her chest heaved, eyes dark, a beg in her voice that was hard to resist. “I need you.”
It was addicting, having her this way, as achy and desperate for me as I was for her.
I leaned down, mouth taking hers in an almost punishing kiss that I broke only long enough to grunt out, “You caught me off guard tonight.”
Her delicate brows furrowed in confusion. I leaned in and dragged my tongue down the valley between her breasts before releasing her hands. I continued my path downward, layering kisses and nips and licks over the sharp edge of a hip bone and the soft curve of her inner thigh.
Her eyes closed, and a sexy sigh escaped her.
“Look at me, baby.”
Her lids popped back open.
“You asked if I wanted to make some little havocs with you. I won’t lie that it took me by surprise, but you mistook my hesitation as a no.
Truth is, I can’t imagine anything better than creating our own brand of chaos together.
And just like everything else when it comes to you, once I get an idea in my head, I can’t seem to wait.
I wish we could start trying right this moment, but you’ll need to coordinate getting off the pill with your doctor.
“So for now, I want to spend all night and all day tomorrow right here in this bed, showing you all the ways we can make that happen. Maybe by the time Christmas comes around next year, we’ll have a brand-new addition to our family.
A beautiful piece of you and me that we can swaddle and snuggle and celebrate. ”
My palm settled on her stomach, hand sliding over the swell between her belly button and pelvic bone—the hollow I wanted to fill with a life.
She shifted, hands coming up to cup my face, fingers caressing my cheeks.
“How do you always do that?” she asked in a breathy whisper.
“Do what, baby?”
“Make all my dreams come true.”
Her eyes filled with tears, and even though I knew they were happy tears, I still didn’t want them.
So I nipped at her playfully again, and once she was focused on me once more, with eyes dark, I began my worship of every curve, every valley, every tender spot and every trembling heartbeat.
She moaned, hips thrusting, hands gripping the comforter, and I continued my relentless devotion, taking her up and up with licks and kisses and touches.
And when my fingers slid between her thighs, when I felt her clench and shiver and shake around them, I murmured the simple truth in her ear.
“There’s nothing on this earth you could want, Havoc, that I wouldn’t try to give you.”
As her body went slack, she tugged my chin, gaze meeting mine.
“I love you. I love you so much it feels too large to be contained. I never knew it could feel like this. I want to give it to everyone. To anyone. To your family. My friends. To a new little life that we make together.”
My eyes narrowed, and I groused, “Let’s not go crazy here. You don’t need to be giving your love to strangers off the street.”
She laughed. “Okay. Okay. Not anyone.” She ran her crooked finger, the one that proved just how damn resilient she was, along my bottom lip. “You’re the only one who will ever own all of my heart, Cooper. You’re the only one whose soul fits perfectly with mine.”
She kissed me. With the same passion and devotion that I always kissed her.
And we set about proving one more time just how much of our hearts and souls and bodies belonged to each other.
As skin turned slick and limbs turned heated, I slid deep into the depths of her on a delighted groan.
The little purr I adored returned, our bodies moved together, our pace slowly building until she was panting and keening and shouting my name.
And as she hit the summit, as she rippled around me, my vision blurred, the heavens moved, and I lost myself completely to the delightful gift that was my sweet havoc and the life we’d chosen to build together.
Thank you so much for reading Andie and Cooper’s hard-won happily ever after.
