Chapter 15

Interviews between patients make for a stressful day, but it’ll be worth it in the end.

Will finished the last exam room a week ago, and the inside of the building no longer looks like a construction site.

It’s actually starting to look like a place someone might want to come for their healthcare. That was always the plan. Jess and I would open our own practice where I would be the doctor, and she would work as a nurse a few times a week.

It was our dream.

Now it’s becoming something without her, all thanks to Will.

I try not to think about that much.

I’ve posted listings for a nurse practitioner and a nurse, and I’ve actually received quite a few responses and have four interviews lined up for today, back to back, between patients.

“Does this mean I’m getting fewer hours?” Victoria asks, when I tell her, a hint of concern in her voice.

“It means you’re getting help.” She seems to find that acceptable, but I know she worries about money, being in school full time, and needing to help out with bills at home. I would never do anything to jeopardize her job.

The first two interviews are both nice, but not really what I’m looking for. A recently retired doctor looking for part-time work, and a young woman who just graduated from nursing school, who I think needs a bit more experience.

The third one is Nora.

She’s in her early thirties, professional, and answers my questions easily. She has ten years of experience working at a practice in the next town over, but would like to move closer to home.

“What made you want to work in family medicine?” I ask.

“You really get to know your patients. And they’re what this is all about.”

She asks good questions that even I have to think about, and I’m honest with her. That it’s a new business and it’s not perfect, but we care about what we do here and hope to grow more and more in the following years.

She seems like she isn’t scared of that.

I tell her I’ll be in touch by the end of the week, but I know I’ve found the perfect fit. I almost cancel the last interview.

Until twenty minutes later, I look out the window of my office and find Nora still standing outside on the walkway, talking to Will.

He’s got his arms crossed, his hands covered with a pair of gloves. He looks… very good. And she’s laughing at something he said. He’s smiling too, wide and unguarded, and I hate every second of what is happening out there.

I can’t look away.

Will comes in from working outside around five, when the last patient has left, and Victoria is walking out the door. I hear him say something to her on the way out, and even though I normally would, I don’t look up.

He’s been fixing the gutters today, something he noticed last week that I never had, and added it to the long list of things wrong with the place he keeps in his phone.

He drops his tools onto the front desk, and from where I’m sitting, I can see his shirt ride up when he stretches, but I force my attention on the computer.

“Done for the day.”

“Mhm,” I say, typing my email, forgetting letters, but determined not to look at him. If he wants to talk to someone, maybe he should talk to Nora.

“Rough day?” he asks, drumming his fingers on the desk.

“Fine. Stop doing that.”

He taps harder to spite me, watching in silence, and I’m starting to regret ever hiring him. He’s annoying, and he taps on things, and he’s using the job I gave him to pick up women.

“You hire anybody yet?”

“Still deciding.”

“That lady seemed nice. The one I talked to outside. Nora.”

“Yeah, I’m sure you thought that,” I mutter, typing harder, hoping that for the first time ever, he’ll recognize that I’m busy and he should go away.

He finally stops that damn tapping, crossing his arms, resting them against the desk to peer over the computer. “What’s got your panties in a twist?”

I grit my teeth. “Nothing is wrong. Don’t you have something better to do than bother me?”

“Not really,” he says with a shrug. And I can feel him looking at me, but I refuse to look back. “Dude, are you jealous?”

“No.”

“You totally are,” he counters with a laugh that sets me on edge even more than I already was. “What, were you creeping on me when I was talking to Nora outside? Is that what all this is about?”

Her name said so casually in his mouth makes my blood boil. “I wasn’t ‘creeping’ on you. I happened to look outside—”

He snorts, cutting me off. “Sure you did.”

I sigh with my full body, giving up my attempt at ignoring him, looking up to meet his eyes.

“You know how I feel about you,” I say, exhaustion creeping in from the long day and Will’s incessant need to mock me.

“I obviously don’t want to see you flirting with other people, but I know you don’t want me and it’s your life—”

While I was speaking, Will walked behind the desk, stopping behind my chair.

“Turn around.”

I look back at my chart, shaking my head. “I have to finish—”

“Nolan.” His hands land on the top of my chair, and his voice sends a shiver up my spine. “Turn around.”

I roll my chair around, and he’s right there, closer than I realized, standing over me. And before I can say anything, his hand slides into my hair, threading through my curls.

I go still at the gesture.

It feels more intimate than anything we’ve done, and he jerked me off.

“You’re an asshole when you’re jealous,” he says, looking down at me with that smirk. “Giving me one-word answers, acting all pissy with me.”

“I wasn’t—”

“You were.” His fingers tighten, and it almost hurts, but it almost feels good. “Acting like I did something wrong when I was just being polite.”

“You were flirting with her.”

“Oh, was I?”

“You were doing the—” I gesture at his body. “The thing you do. You know what I’m talking about.”

“Right. The thing I do.” He does know. How could you not know when you’re standing there, looking hot, smiling that way he does—

“Now, why would I flirt with her?” he says slowly, a darkness in his voice that has my cock stirring in my pants. “When I’ve got you right here, all ready and willing.”

His eyes drop to my mouth that has gone completely dry, and I’m already hard from his hand in my hair and his words. I try to look down at my crotch to see how obvious it is, but his fingers curl tighter, pulling my head back until I’m looking up at him.

I let out what I could only call a squeak.

“There he is,” Will says with a chuckle, looking down at me with an expression I feel in my bones. “You still wanna be all grumpy over nothing? Or you wanna suck my dick?”

There’s only one answer to that question, because whatever I was annoyed about has left my brain completely, replaced by the want that takes over every time he gets this close.

And the thought of getting my mouth on him…

He reaches down with his free hand, and I watch him undo his zipper, realizing, right then and there, that I’ve never actually seen him. It’s always been about me, his hands on me, making me come in the most embarrassing ways possible, and I’ve never—

He takes himself out.

He’s not fully hard yet, and he’s already— He’s bigger than me. He’s thick and bigger than average, and he strokes himself to hardness, inches from my face, watching me while he does it, fully aware of what he’s doing to me. My mouth has opened slightly, but I can’t close it for the life of me.

Because my brother-in-law is fisting his cock in front of my face—

“Will.” My voice is desperate as I shift in my seat, the need inside of me growing too strong to contain.

I need him. Right now.

“Let’s see what you can do,” he says, tilting my head up to look at his face instead of his perfect cock. “Show me why I don’t need anybody else.”

I nod, faster than I should, and he laughs that teasing sound. “So eager.”

“Shut up,” I say, and lean forward.

He guides his cock into my mouth, his head steady in my hair, grounding me.

I groan as soon as he hits my tongue, the heavy feeling, the taste of him after a long day of working outside. It’s all him, and I press my hand against my crotch so I don’t come in my pants again from his taste in my mouth.

How do people do this?

How do I do this?

I was with a woman for my entire adult life. Two now, if you count Karen. This was never something that came up. And now, I’m finally getting what I want, and my senses are overwhelmed, and I have no idea what to do.

I try to think about what I like.

It’s been long enough since someone has had their mouth on me that I have to think hard, but I start, licking lightly, testing the waters, taking him an inch deeper.

Will makes a sound above me, tugging on my hair until I pull off of him. When I look up, he’s staring down at me with a raised eyebrow. “That all you got?”

“I’ve never done this before.”

“Come on, Doc.” He glances down at his cock, a suggestion to try again. “why shouldn’t I go find somebody who knows what they’re doing?”

Those words hit right where they’re meant to as I remember Nora. She probably knows what she’s doing. She probably wouldn’t be embarrassing herself right now.

This time, I try to stay out of my head, not to let my own arousal steer what’s happening. I find a rhythm, sucking him in as far as I can, using my hand to stroke what I can’t take, dragging my tongue up the vein on the underside.

After a minute, his grip on my hair tightens, and he exhales through his nose, less controlled than I’ve heard him. “Better.”

I lose track of time as the world around me falls away until there’s only this.

His fingers in my hair, the sounds he makes, the pleasure he’s getting from me.

He says things above me, taunting me the way he always does, but the words don’t hit the same when they’re followed by breathy moans and little thrusts.

I could get used to this. Get better with time. I certainly enjoy it. But that’s sort of the problem.

I’m so turned on I can’t think straight.
