Distracted
Author's pov-
The next morning, Divya woke up with a dull ache in her knee. She stretched, wincing slightly as she swung her legs off the bed. The events of last night replayed in her mind-purv taking care of her, the way his touch had been so careful, the way he had say, "you're not people."
Her stomach flipped.
Shaking her head, she pushed the thoughts away and got ready for college. She opted for a simple black top and blue jeans, tying her hair in a loose ponytail. When she walked downstairs, shanta aunty had already set breakfast on the table.
"Good morning, beta," she greeted.
"Morning, aunty," Divya replied, taking a seat.
"How's your knee?"
"It's fine," divya said, biting into her toast.
Shanta aunty smiled knowingly. "That purv is a nice boy."
Divya nearly choked. "What?"
"He cares for you," she said simply, pouring tea into a cup.
Divya scoffed. "No, he doesn't."
Shanta aunty gave her a look. "Beta, a boy who doesn't care wouldn't have sat here tending to your wounds like that."
Divya didn't have a response to that.

When she arrived at college, kaashi was waiting for her near the entrance.
"You okay?" Kaashi asked, glancing at her knee.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Divya said, dismissing it.
Kaashi raised an eyebrow. "You sure? Because I heard someone was being taken care of by someone yesterday."
Divya groaned. "You guys talk too much."
Kaashi smirked. "So? How does it feel to have The Purv Rathore tending to your wounds like a hero in some dramatic film?"
Divya rolled her eyes. "It wasn't like that."
Kaashi nudged her. "I bet he was all serious and broody while doing it. Was he?"
Divya didn't answer, but her silence was enough for kaashi to grin.
"God, I knew it!" She laughed. "This is huge. Divya, he never does things like this for anyone!"
Before Divya could respond, a familiar voice interrupted.
"You two done gossiping?"
Divya turned to see Aditya standing there, hands in his pockets.
Kaashi smirked. "We're just discussing important development in Divya's life."
Aditya chuckled. "Oh? And what would those be?"
Divya glared at kaashi. "Nothing."
Kaashi, sighed dramatically. "She's no fun."
Aditya shook his head in amusement. "Alright, come on, let's get to class before we're late."

During the lecture, Divya found herself distracted.
Her mind kept going back to purv-his hands wrapped around her leg, the way he had watched her with an intensity she couldn't understand.
Why did he care?
Did he actually care?
And why did it bother her so much?
When the lecture ended, she decided to go to the library. She needed some space to think.
She found a quiet corner, taking a book off the shelf just to have something to focus on. But before she could even open it, a shadow fell over her.
"Running away from me?"
Her breath hitched.
Purv.
He stood there, looking as effortlessly composed as ever.
Divya straightened. "Why would I be running away?"
Purv smirked. "Because you've been avoiding me all day."
Divya scoffed. "I have not-"
"You have."
She crossed her arms. "Maybe I was just busy."
Purv studied her for a moment before leaning slightly closer. "You overthink too much."
Her breath caught in her throat.
"You should stop that," he added, his voice softer this time.
Before she could say anything, he straightened and walked away, leaving her staring after him, heart pounding.
What was happening between them?
And why did she feel like it was only just beginning?
