Unfinished conversations
Author's pov-
The evening felt heavier after purv's departure, as if the weight of everything unsaid lingered in the air.
Divya exhaled, rubbing her arms absentmindedly. The warmth she had felt just moments ago- standing close to purv, feeling the depth of his emotions-was now replaced by a cold emptiness.
Aditya was still beside her, his expression laced with frustration. "Are you really not going after him?"
She sighed, staring at the door purv had disappeared through. "Would it make a difference?"
Aditya hesitated. "Maybe not now. But one day, it will."
Divya turned to him, her brow furrowing. "What do you mean?"
He let out a small chuckle, though there was no humor in it. "Purv acts like he doesn't care, like he can push people away and be fine. But the truth is, he needs someone to fight for him."
Divya swallowed, processing his words.
"You think I haven't been?" She asked quietly.
Aditya shook his head. "No, I know you have. But the question is-how long can you keep doing it before it breaks you?"
That made her pause.
Was she breaking?
She didn't know.
All she knew was that she couldn't just give up. Not on purv. Not on what they were becoming.
"I'll be fine," she finally said, more for herself than for him.
Aditya didn't seem convinced but didn't push her either. "Just.. don't lose yourself trying to save someone else, okay?"
Divya forced a small smile. "I'll keep that in mind."
They stood in silence for a moment before Aditya sighed. "I should head back. You?"
She shook her head. "I'll stay a little longer."
Aditya gave her a knowing look but didn't argue. "Goodnight, divya."
"Goodnight, aditya."
As he left, Divya turned back toward the cityscape, the distant lights flickering like stars.
Her thoughts wandered to purv, to the way he had looked at her before leaving.
This wasn't over.
