CHAPTER 31
Lucas
I t’s been a whole month since I last saw her. And while my heart continues to break, her family and The Fallen Angels have been treating me well.
Very well.
I step out onto the balcony of my new Miami mansion, taking in the warm ocean breeze. The waterfront Mediterranean villa on the coveted Venetian islands, which offer breathtaking views of Biscayne Bay, gleams in the midday sun. It's not something I'm used to, but it's hard to complain when you get to wake up with these views.
Thanks to the powerful alliance I have formed between The Fallen Angels Cartel and the Mancini's, my coffers are now filled with wealth. And my first act was to secure a property far from prying eyes. It's where Serafina dreamed of escaping from her family's control.
Even though I am still tied to my responsibilities back in Oakland, this secluded sanctuary offers me something priceless - security. It is the only place in the world where I can fully let go and unwind.
I feel my phone vibrating in my pocket, and I see that it's Miguel, someone Don Martin recently introduced me to. "Ey hermano, just got a fresh shipment of those exotic plants you wanted. Orchids, bromeliads, and even a coupla' rare philodendrons from the rainforest. That warehouse of yours is gonna be greener than the Amazon soon."
"Bueno. Get 'em all settled in and make sure they have everything they need to thrive. Hire as many staff as necessary to care for them 24/7, whatever it takes. Price is no object," I order.
"You got it, jefe. Hasta luego."
I end the call with a sigh, my mind wandering to Serafina as I stare out at the glistening blue waters. I can already imagine her face lighting up with happiness when she sees the luxurious oasis I am creating just for her.
Perhaps one day soon, she will actually be here to enjoy it with me.
