Chapter 3

Maxwell

Walking away from Alexa was harder than I anticipated with a raging hard-on.

What is this woman doing to me? I’ve been walking around my hotel for the last forty minutes, showing Alexa everything she needs to know, in agony.

I’ve never experienced anything like it before, and I’m not at liberty to do anything about it because the damn woman made it clear in my office that she was out of bounds, but she will give in.

I know she will. There is only so much sexual tension someone can put up with before they crack, and Alexa’s response to me last night tells me all I need to know.

She’s a pussy cat. She’s going to be putty in my hands when her brain catches up with her heart and gives in.

“It’s a grand place you’ve got here.” Alexa breaks the silence as we arrive back in the lobby.

The empty space makes her voice echo, making it sound even sexier than it already is.

“I like grand things, Alexa.”

Her eyes roll. I’m not sure if she thought she got away without me seeing that, but I’ll let that slide this time since I was trying to be suggestive.

“And you don’t think this is a job too grand for you?”

She laughs. It’s the sweetest fucking sound, but it does nothing to help the predicament I’m in. In fact, it makes my dick weep. Anyone would think I’ve never been around a sexy young woman before. I have, just not one like Alexa.

“Too grand? What you have here is tiny in comparison to some things I’ve worked on. The bigger, the better in my opinion.”

I like this woman. She’s smart, witty, and she’s playing me at my own game with her words.

Only, I can take it. I’ll have to do something to alleviate my frustration when Alexa leaves, but I can stand strong until then.

I can keep my expression blank; she’ll never know what I’m thinking unless I want her to.

Alexa, on the other hand, I can read like a book.

She’s hot, she’s horny, she wants me to consume her body, but she’s as stubborn as they come.

She just needs to snap out of her head, stop with this professional bullshit, and get with the programme.

“So, I can email the contract over to you this afternoon?” I change back to business.

She turns back to look at me, holds out her hand towards me, and bites her lip.

The fucking lip biting is going to drive me insane.

“We have a deal, Maxwell. I’ll start your rotas from Monday.

It will give me time to jiggle my staff around and get them prepped for here.

If I need to take on some more staff specifically for you, then I’ll take care of that, but in the meantime, I can hire out my staff to cover the hotel and they’ll get the job done. ”

I don’t care how she gets the job done, where she takes staff from, I have confidence that she knows what she’s doing.

“It has been a pleasure doing business with you, Alexa. You know where to find me if you need…” I shrug, “anything.” I grip her hand tighter, let it go, and walk her over to the exit.

“I’ll bear that in mind.” She walks through the rotunda door and doesn’t even give me a backwards glance.

Yeah, you will be back, sweetheart.

“Bro, you’re fucked!” I turn around at my brother’s voice booming through the lobby. “I can feel the sexual tension in the air. She has the hots for you.”

I walk over to my brother, punch his arm, and take the mop from his hand. “One day, you’ll know a good woman when you see one and you won’t talk about them like they are a piece of meat. Now, did you get all the water taken care of?”

The teenage attitude rolls off my brother in waves; the sighing, the moaning, the shoulder shrugging, I could physically shake some life into him, but I don’t think an orange jumpsuit and bars will suit me.

“Yes. All done. Where do you want me now?”

“Second floor. Paul is building some flat-packed furniture. Help him. I’ve got some paperwork to take care of.”

I walk away to the sound of my brother complaining like I’ve asked him to climb Mount-Fucking-Everest. I have more important things to do, starting with a cold shower, some hand action, probably followed by more daydreaming about the beautiful Lexi.

I wasn’t lying to Brendan that I have paperwork to do, but I’ll never get work done if I don’t take care of myself first. The first thing I was taught in university was the importance of self-care.

I laughed it off then, but now I’m older and wiser, and I definitely see the perks.
