Epilogue #2

“Fuck, Enzo. This is…”

“Say it.” His breathing is harder now, his finger driving deeper inside me. “This is what, baby?”

“I don’t know,” I gasp.

With a low groan, Enzo supports my upper body with both arms and moves me from the couch to the floor so that I’m bent double in front of him, my forehead touching the rug.

The stretch is even deeper at this angle.

So deep I swear his cock will end up in my mouth.

My hand is still between my legs, but my hand-brain coordination has stopped functioning.

He leans over me, pinning me in place. “Deep enough for you?”

“Yes.” I squeeze my eyes shut.

“Sure you can’t take more?”

“No.”

“No, not sure? Or no you can’t take more?” His breath is my breath, and I can no longer tell where my body ends and his begins.

“My sexy baby.” Enzo fists my hair and tilts my face towards him, his tongue filling my mouth and making it difficult to breathe.

I kiss him back, giving into the sensations setting my body on fire, and succumb to the orgasm making my body spasm and my knees tremble as he reaches his own climax, his cum squirting inside me and trickling down my thighs.

Spent, Enzo waits for the shudders to subside then he rolls off me onto the rug, and spoons me from behind, his arms wrapped around me so that we’re both facing the windows.

“Do you think anyone saw us?” I ask eventually when I can speak.

“If they did, I bet they enjoyed the show.” He sounds half-asleep, and I twist around to check if his eyes are open.

“I never knew you were such an exhibitionist.”

“You did, you just refused to play along,” he deadpans, his expression neutral.

I gasp out loud and punch his arm playfully when his wide smile breaks out. “We should get dressed before the rest of our stuff arrives.”

Enzo kisses the tip of my nose. “We have time for another orgasm.” His eyes sparkle. “And besides, we didn’t open the champagne yet.”

I’m about to answer when the buzzer rings at the door.

“Shit! They’re early.” I jump up, grab my clothes from the floor and stuff my legs into my jeans because I can’t locate my panties.

Enzo doesn’t move. His eyes gleam with amusement while he watches me almost face-planting the floor when my foot gets stuck, and he licks his lips. “Did I tell you how sexy you are?”

I roll my eyes. “You should get dressed. I’m not sure they’ll appreciate you following them around naked.”

“I won’t follow them around. I’ll be discreet.”

I chuckle, despite the panic coursing around my veins, and toss his pants at him. “Discreet isn’t a word I’d use to describe you.”

He furrows his brow, his smile still shining through. “Okay, I’ll get dressed if you come here and kiss me first.”

I tug my shirt over my head and glare at him. “Fine. But only because I don’t want you to get arrested for indecent exposure before we get to spend a night together in our new home.”

“It would be a first,” he concedes. “But I have a great lawyer.”

“And an answer for everything.”

I tug my shirt on and go to him anyway because I know I won’t win. I lean over and kiss him, and he pulls me onto his lap, fisting my hair and filling my mouth with his tongue.

When we both come up for air, the buzzer goes again, jolting me back to reality.

I place both hands on his chest. “I kept my side of the arrangement. Time for you to keep yours.” I haul myself onto my feet and dodge his arms as he tries to stop me from getting away.

I’m still giggling, my cheeks aching from smiling so much, the crotch of my jeans saturated with the product of our combined orgasms, when I open the door to find Megan, Gio, and the twins standing there.

Heat rushes to my face, and my skin feels like it’s on fire. “Hi…” I’m stalling, praying that they won’t notice my overheated cheeks and swollen lips as I straighten my shirt. “I didn’t know you were coming.”

“We thought we’d surprise you.” Megan hugs me while Valentina and Fiero each wrap their arms around my legs making me a Sabatelli sandwich. “I couldn’t wait any longer to see your new home.”

Gio grins at me and kisses my cheeks as I try to extricate my legs from the twins. “Did we come at a bad time?”

More heat pumps around my body and settles in plain sight in my face. “No!” I blurt out. “I thought you were the rest of our stuff arriving.”

Enzo comes up behind me, wraps his arms around me from behind and nuzzles my neck, totally unfazed by the fact that we were naked two minutes ago. “Aren’t you going to invite our first guests in?” he murmurs in my ear, his breath tickling my neck and raising goose bumps on my arms.

“Yes, sorry.” I stand aside and watch them all pile in, the twins making straight for the palm tree because it’s the only interesting object in the apartment so far.

I sniff the air, and my breath hitches when I smell sex.

But Megan and Gio wander around the living room and peer outside at the terrace, oblivious to my torn panties which I’ve spotted poking out from underneath one of the couches.

I snatch them up quickly and stuff them into my pocket while their backs are turned, my pulse racing. Enzo watches me with a grin on his face, and I flip him the middle finger, which only makes him smile wider.

“It’s beautiful, Demi.” Megan turns around to survey the rest of the apartment with wide eyes. “A new home and promotion. It calls for a double celebration.”

Enzo folds an arm around my shoulders and kisses the top of my head. “DS Payne will take some getting used to, but I’m so proud of my beautiful woman.”

“It was the commissioner’s parting gift before they forced him out.” I shrug. “But I’m excited to work with my new team.”

“Don’t sell yourself short.” Gio’s tone is serious. “You’ve worked hard for this. You deserve it.”

Warmth settles at my core. When Enzo and I got back together, he said that he would go wherever I was and would live in a shack on the beach if it would make me happy.

We settled for a beautiful loft apartment in Manhattan, and summer vacations in Sicily, and he fully supported me staying with the NYPD, provided I didn’t take on any more undercover roles as a sex worker.

It was an easy one to agree to.

“There’s a bottle of champagne in the fridge.” I kiss Enzo on the lips as the twins take his hands and drag him towards the sliding doors that open onto the terrace.

“We want to go outside, Uncle Enzo.”

“But it’s raining,” he protests, shooting a help-me look at Megan over his shoulder. “Mommy won’t want you to get wet.”

“It’s all right.” Megan sucks her lips in to stop herself from smiling. “They love splashing in puddles. They’ll soon dry off.”

“See who can splash Uncle Enzo the most,” Gio suggests to his children, earning himself a glare from his younger brother.

“Is there any news about Bianca and Leo?” I ask Gio while I find the bottle of Moet in the fridge.

Over the last twelve months, he has followed several leads in Singapore, Europe, and Tokyo, but all have resulted in a dead end.

It seems that Bianca is determined not to be found and has sufficient funds and resources to move around the world and stay one step ahead of her brother.

But Gio refuses to give up searching for them because he feels responsible for his nephew.

“Nothing.”

A glance passes between him and Megan, and I don’t press the issue. She and I believe that Bianca wouldn’t put her son’s life in danger, but we don’t know her the way her brothers do so it has become a moot point. I only pray that Bianca doesn’t prove us wrong someday.

Megan unwraps four champagne flutes from a carton on top of the kitchen counter, and I twist the cork with a satisfying pop. She places the glasses in a line on the counter, and I’m about to pour when she picks one up and peers inside.

“What’s this?” Megan tips the glass and a tiny metal object drops into her palm. She holds it up to inspect it more closely, her jaw dropping when she realizes what it is. “Oh… Demi… I’m so sorry, I think I wasn’t supposed to find this.”

Her gaze flits between me and Gio and back again.

“What is it?” I set the bottle down on the counter and take it from her, puzzled by her reaction.

Until I see the exquisite yellow diamond set into a simple platinum band. I blink, turning the ring and watching it catch the sunlight suddenly turning the terrace windows to a clear sparkling canvas.
