Bonus Scene
ONE WEEK AGO
“If we had something of hers, I could do a locator spell. Maybe see if Cillian has anything of hers on him when he arrives?”
I appreciate Hazel’s suggestion, but it’s far from enough. “That will be too late! If Caspien really does have her, we can’t wait another second.” My attention is on Aiden. “We have to find her now,” I plead.
“I’m doing everything I can, Nova. We have every guard awake and looking for her. We’ll do the spell as soon as they’re here. We’ll find her,” he says, attempting to reassure me.
The minutes are passing too fast. Nissa has been with him too long.
“What about me?” I throw my attention back to Hazel, trying to read her reaction. “We’re twins! Can you use me?”
Her eyes are trained on Aiden.
I look back at him. “Please, you know what he’s capable of.”
He looks back at the petite witch, “Could it be done?”
“Well, yes… but I can’t do it and hold the shield that’s hiding her. I’ll have to drop it, do the locator spell, and then put the shield back up. Nissa will immediately feel her. And if anyone is actively looking for Nova, then they’ll be able to tell she’s alive.”
“Nova…” He looks back at me with weary eyes.
He is going to tell me no.
“Do it. Now!”
They share a worried look.
“What the hell are we waiting on?” I scream. “This is my sister! He will kill her and only the Goddess knows what else.”
They still don’t make a move.
I walk to Aiden, shoulders squared, and look directly into his smoke-filled eyes. “You claim I’m not a hostage here. So, this is my choice. We’re doing the locator spell,” I grit out, hoping my confidence sways him.
His jaw flexes in annoyance that this is when I’ve decided to stand up for myself.
“I’ll still be here with all of your protection,” I say.
He holds eye contact with me for just a moment before he nods and looks at Hazel. “Do it, quickly. I’ll go wait on Cillian and his guards.”
I take his hand in mine. “Thank you, Aiden.”
He squeezes once. “Go find your sister.” Looking over my shoulder to Hazel, he says, “Send me the information as soon as you get it.”
And he walks out the door.
