CHAPTER SIX #3
"What?" Rudraksh asked, his smile widening as her laughter filled the sterile quarters.
"I just..." Serena laughed, wiping a fresh, happy tear from her eye. She held up her hand, admiring the jewelry. "I am a woman who has never worn a single piece of jewelry in her entire adult life because it’s a tactical liability. And now, all of a sudden, I have two."
She looked back at him, her dark eyes shining with undeniable love. "And I am probably never going to take them off for the rest of my life."
Rudraksh let out a low rumble of amusement. He surged forward, wrapping his arms around her and tackling her gently back onto the mattress.
"Good," he growled against her lips, right before his mouth crashed down on hers, silencing the laughter and replacing it with the intoxicating heat of their shared future.

The next morning, the command center of Army Intelligence was running at its usual, razor-sharp efficiency.
The holographic projection table was lit up with satellite feeds of the northern sector, and the hum of servers masked the low chatter of the intelligence operatives.
Armaan Trivedi was leaning over the table, analyzing a supply route, when Major Serena Dhar walked into the bullpen.
She moved with her usual grace, her dark tactical fatigues immaculate, her hair pulled back into its severe, practical braid. She carried a tablet in her left hand as she walked toward the central table.
"Vantage, the thermal scans from sector four are showing anomalies," Serena said, her voice crisp and professional as she tapped the screen of her tablet.
"I'll have Phantom run a secondary pass, Major," Armaan said, looking up.
His eyes tracked her movement as she set the tablet down on the glass table. And that was when he saw it.
The bright, fluorescent lights of the command center caught the unmistakable gleam of brushed platinum and a flush-set diamond on her left ring finger. And peeking out from beneath the dark, moisture-wicking cuff of her tactical sleeve was the ancient glint of a pure gold bangle.
Armaan froze.
Across the table, Kunal Bakshi was updating a medical inventory. He glanced up at Armaan’s sudden silence, followed his second-in-command's gaze, and choked on his coffee.
Vivaan Saxena spun his chair around, his eyes widening to the size of saucers. Rohan and Ishaan practically tripped over each other to look over the monitors.
Serena stopped tapping the tablet. She looked up, her dark eyes narrowing as she took in the five elite operatives staring blankly at her left hand.
"Is there a problem with the thermal scans, gentlemen?" Serena asked, her tone dangerously cool, though the lack of emotional leakage on her face was betrayed by the very faint, very rare blush creeping up her neck.
Just then, the doors to the command center opened.
Lt. Col. Rudraksh Ashmehr-Vohn strode into the room, the Monarch in full command. He walked up behind Serena, and in a move that shattered military protocol, he placed a large, possessive hand flat on the small of her back.
He looked at his stunned team, his dark eyes practically daring them to say a word. But the faint, incredibly smug curve of his mouth ruined the intimidation.
Armaan broke first.
An ecstatic grin spread across the second-in-command's face. "Well, I'll be damned."
Vivaan let out a loud, victorious whoop, spinning his chair in a full circle. "I knew it! Bhabhi is officially on the roster!"
"Ignition," Serena warned, though the edges of her voice were soft.
Kunal laughed, shaking his head as he tossed a gauze pad onto the table. "It was only a matter of time. The two most terrifying people on this base, finally making it official. The enemy doesn't stand a chance."
"Pay up, Cortex," Rohan demanded, holding his hand out to the intelligence analyst. "I told you he wouldn't wait till the end of the fiscal quarter."
Ishaan grumbled, pulling his wallet out. "I calculated the dynastic political delays. I didn't factor in the boss's complete lack of patience."
Rudraksh chuckled, a rich, deep sound that washed over the team. He looked down at Serena, his thumb gently stroking the fabric of her shirt at her spine. She looked up at him, rolling her eyes at the team's antics, but the brilliant, untethered joy in her dark eyes mirrored his own.
"Alright, enough," Rudraksh commanded, though his tone lacked its usual bite. "You can celebrate on your own time. Back to the board. We have a sector to secure."
"Yes, Sir!" the team chorused loudly, their voices carrying an electric, ecstatic energy that even the sterile walls of the Cantonment couldn't contain.
As the team scrambled back to their stations, laughing and whispering among themselves, Serena leaned back just a fraction, resting her weight against Rudraksh’s hand.
They were surrounded by war, by intelligence feeds, by the relentless demands of their duty. But as the platinum ring caught the light, and the gold bangle rested warmly against her pulse, they both knew the truth.
The storm had found its sanctuary, and they would never, ever be apart again.
