Epilogue
SOPHIA
ONE YEAR LATER
Snow drifts from heavy clouds, dusting the landscape in white.
I sigh quietly as I watch the boys finish setting up the little white wedding Noah and I are having.
The window over the sink is wide enough that it allows enough natural light in to illuminate the perfect little kitchen Noah rebuilt, which is now full of soft laughter and the smell of home-cooked food.
Skye sidles up beside me, a grin forming across her red lips. “You ready?”
I blow out a shaky breath and look down at the little two-month old in my arms. “I’ve been ready since the day I found out about this one,” I reply, pressing a kiss to my son’s forehead. “I was ready that first day I woke up in the cabin.”
The last year has been a whirlwind of activity. From the proposal to breaking the lease on my apartment and moving in with Noah, to finding out about the pregnancy—our little snow-storm miracle, we call him—and everything in between, I don’t feel like I’ve had time to breathe or take in everything.
One year, and I have everything I ever could have wanted.
“Watch out—Groom looks like he’s on the hunt,” Skye whispers. “Let me take Harley so you can have a few moments with Noah.”
I look up as the cabin door opens and closes; my husband-to-be is as handsome as the day he rescued me, and even more-so now that we have our son.
Every day with him has been better than the last, and I’m so ready to spend the rest of my life with him—whether that be here on the mountain, or in the house he wants to get for our growing family.
I hand Harley over to Skye and give her an appreciative smile before skipping up to Noah. Despite coming up to the mountain for peace and quiet, he’s definitely entertained me with this little wedding of ours.
“Care to help me get dressed?” I ask, tucking my hand into his. “Looks like you need a bit of a break.”
Noah breathes a sigh of relief. “It’s been a while being around all of them again.”
My heart tightens. I think the last time he’d been surrounded by his brothers at the firehouse, it had been during Jason’s memorial. But I know it brings him so much happiness to see Jason’s sister, Maggie, here with Lilly, Jason’s daughter.
I bring his hand to my lips and give him a soft kiss, before tugging him towards our bedroom. Soft giggles follow us as we pass, but I feel nothing but love as the door closes behind us.
Noah presses me into the wall, trapping me against his strong chest. “I love you so much.”
I hum under my breath as I wrap my arms around his shoulders. “I know,” I reply with a grin. “My hero.”
He nuzzles my neck. “My Angel,” he murmurs, kissing my throat. “Thank you for saving me—again.”
“Always.”
