Epilogue.

“So… what happens now?” Chey asked as I stroked the leather cover of a summoning book. Michelle had discovered it at the house, hidden in a loose baseboard.
“This gets sent to my secure place, and we move on to the next haunting. It’s in Vermont,” I replied.
“You have a lockup?” Celt questioned.
“A very protected one. Sunny made sure of it,” I said and grinned as Celt blanched.
“The Hellfire land? Does Chance know?” he demanded, horrified.
“For now, and yes, it was Chance’s idea. All artefacts are kept in the reinforced cellar, which is heavily protected. It’s better than having them in a storage lockup or in a warehouse where they’re easily stolen,” I replied.
“What will you do with them?” Chey asked.
“When I retire, I want to open a paranormal school. Where you learn the correct techniques in investigating hauntings. They’ll have access to the archives and the full investigations, not what we put out to the public for TV,” I said.
“You heavily edit the footage?” Celt looked curious.
“Yes. Most of what is recorded never gets seen. How do you think the public will handle seeing a real demon? They’ll see the exorcisms but not the demons,” Sunny interjected as he reached for a cookie.
“Do you do that often?” Chey snatched a snickerdoodle.
“Yes. There are things we’ve filmed that would prove the paranormal exists without a doubt.
But that would allow charlatans like Tack Zoggins to exploit spirits—or worse.
People like him would go in, harass spirits, and rile them up.
Can you imagine if he’d been here and seen this?
It would have been a disaster,” I explained.
“So that’s a plan?” Celt asked.
“Yes. But not yet, I’ve way too many hauntings to investigate,” I replied.
“Where are you going next?” Chey took a huge bite of the cookie and grinned.
“Vermont. I’m unsure if anyone’s joining us. Sunny will know, but they look to be good cases,” I said and smiled at Sunny.
“No demons?” he teased, wrapping an arm around my shoulder.
“Hope not.”
“You did well, baby,” Sunny murmured and kissed me.
Yeah, we did!
