Chapter 7

LORNA

My first official date was a raging success…and left me feeling sore between my legs when I woke up this morning. Twisting in Cole’s embrace to see if he was awake, I caught him just as his sleepy blue eyes opened.

“Morning, baby.” His arms tightened around me. “You gotta tell me…how’re you more gorgeous just waking up than you are all decked out for a date?”

“Stop.” I gently swatted his broad chest. “Am not. I’m a mess in the morning.”

“If you’re a mess, then you’re a beautiful one.” He gave me a soft kiss. “And all mine.”

After the things I had let him do to me last night, there was no denying he was right. Not when I felt very much his.

“Thank you.”

“My pleasure, lass.” He tugged me closer and ground his hard length against my core. “Literally and figuratively.”

“Mine too.” I wagged my brows. “Multiple times.”

“Damn straight.” He flashed me a cocky grin before groaning when his phone blared.

Twisting toward the bedside table, he reached out to grab the device and silence the alarm.

“Since the day Lennox hired me, there’s never been a day I didn’t look forward to heading to work.

Until now. The last thing I want to do is rush our morning together so I can take you home and head to practice at the stadium. ”

My nose wrinkled at the thought of him driving all the way from Long Island to Soho and back again, just so he could take me to my apartment. “That’s a lot of extra time in the car for you. I could just take a cab back to my place.”

“No way in hell is that gonna happen.” He shook his head. “I pick you up and drop you off for our dates.”

His tone brooked no argument, so I didn’t bother trying. “If that’s what you want, it works for me.”

“What would really work for me is if you stay here instead of going back to your place,” he confessed.

I pressed my lips together, surprised by the suggestion. “I love your place, but I’m not sure I’m comfortable hanging out for that long without you. Not yet, anyway.”

“I’m gonna have to work on that.” He raked his fingers through his hair. “Shit, the only reason I was at The End Zone Sunday night was because we won our last preseason game, but I wish we could fast-forward to February so I had this week free to spend with you while you’re on vacation.”

“The good news is that I didn’t make any big plans, so I can be flexible.

We can hang out whenever you want,” I offered, thrilled that he wasn’t in any rush to get rid of me.

Not that I had expected him to be. Cole had been pretty darn clear about how interested he was in me, but you never could tell how guys would act after they got you in bed—or at least that was what I’d always assumed based on stories I had heard from other girls.

“Come with me to the stadium, then,” he requested as he brushed his lips against mine. “I want every minute I can get with you.”

“A behind-the-scenes look? Sounds like fun, except there’s one tiny problem.

” Twining my arms around his neck, I murmured, “I’m glad I didn’t insist on you taking me home last night, but it leaves me in a quandary because I didn’t stash any extra clothes in my purse.

Just the flats that I always keep in there in case I’m wearing heels and need to walk somewhere farther than a few blocks. ”

“You’d look fucking amazing in one of my shirts.”

My nose wrinkled as I laughed. “Yeah, if I want to wear something that’ll come to my knees since I’d be swimming in it. You’re kinda huge compared to me, babe.”

“Is that a complaint?”

His grin let me know he wasn’t really worried, but I assured him anyway.

“I might’ve been a virgin before last night, and I can still feel exactly where your big dick has been, but I’m definitely not going to gripe about your size.

Not after you so thoroughly demonstrated you can put it to good use by giving me mind-blowing orgasms.”

“Whenever you want more, just let me know, lass.”

I was tempted to take him up on the offer right now, but my pussy needed a break after our enthusiastic activities last night. “You’ll be the first to know.”

“I better be,” he growled, rolling over so he was on top of me, our bodies pressed together. “The only man who gives you orgasms is me.”

I craned my neck to brush my lips against his. “You’re the only man I’ve ever so much as thought about sleeping with, so no worries there.”

“Good.” He captured my mouth in a deep kiss that left me breathless before pulling away to climb off the mattress. “C’mon, lass. We better get moving if I’m going to feed you before we head out.”

My stomach rumbled at the mention of food, making my cheeks heat. “I could eat.”

“Then it’s a good thing I keep the kitchen well stocked.”

He stretched out his hand and helped me off the bed when I slid my palm against his.

But he kept tugging until our naked bodies were pressed together.

His hard-on nudged my lower belly, causing heat to pool in my core.

“What I’m really hungry for is your sweet pussy, but I went a little overboard last night.

My next taste is gonna have to wait until you have the chance to recover.

The last thing I want to do is hurt you when I take you again. ”

He had been so careful with me last night, which clued me into how worried he’d been about causing me pain while taking my virginity. “For as big as you are, I would’ve expected my first time to hurt more than it did. Thanks for taking such good care of me.”

“Always, baby.”

His declaration was only two words, but they held a wealth of meaning.

“I know.”

“And taking care of you includes making sure you start today with a healthy breakfast.” Placing his palm against my lower back, he guided me over to the closet to grab one of his T-shirts.

I’d been right about it being big on me, but it worked for eating breakfast here with just the two of us, and I could tie some of the excess material at my hip to make it fit better when I put on my jeans before we left for the stadium.

Cole put on a red compression shirt that hugged all of the muscles in his chest, back, and arms. He paired it with a pair of black athletic pants that had the Nighthawks logo on his upper right thigh. “The sporty look is a good one for you.”

“I’m glad you think so since I dress like this a lot. Comes with the job.” He guided me through the house and into the kitchen. “What’re you hungry for? You need the calories after the workout I gave you last night.”

I shook my head with a laugh and padded over to the coffee machine. “And plenty of caffeine.”

“I’ll take some too,” he requested as he pulled a frying pan from the mounted rack on the wall.

After putting the single-cup machine through two cycles, I added some milk and sugar to my mug. Then I made some toast to go with the ham and cheese omelets Cole was finishing up. The meal was simple but tasty, and filling too.

By the time I slipped my flats on so we could leave, I looked semi-presentable.

The braid from last night had left my hair with nice waves in it, so all I’d had to do was comb my fingers through the long locks.

A little bit of lip gloss and mascara, and I didn’t think I looked as though I hadn’t been home since last night.

Grinning up at Cole before he helped me into his car, I asked, “It doesn’t look like I’m doing the walk of shame, does it?”

“Just like I thought, you’re a knockout in my clothes,” he assured me. “Just like you’d be in anything you put on.”

“You don’t think your players will notice?”

His blue eyes were fierce as he swore, “They won’t look twice at you if they know what’s good for them.”
