Chapter 37 Nash
Nash
Ihave a Kismet. It’s something I never imagined I’d have for myself. And she’s the mysterious girl from the window. We were that close to her this whole time and never knew. If we had seen her just once, we would’ve been able to catch her cherry scent.
I turn, glancing down the hallway where I know they went. If I could distract them, I could run and find her. We need to be with her. Not them.
“What did she tell you about herself?” Tav asks Holden.
“No specific details. I know she has a brother. She likes to eat. Just things like that. She always asked more questions about us.” Holden rubs his palms across his jeans, his knee bouncing nervously.
“She told me she was going to be unavailable for about a week for a family emergency. Guess I know what that is now.”
“I saw her once. At your house while we were working. Just a partial view, while she was standing in the window, then she disappeared,” I added.
Both Tav and Josh groan.
“Told you she wouldn’t stay out of sight.” Josh smiles for just a moment before his face returns to the scowl he was sporting.
“So that’s how you know her?” he asks me.
“No, I’ve been messaging her on the school app too.” I don’t look away, my eyes locked onto him. “Our conversations were pretty much the same as Holden’s, except for the project stuff.” He doesn’t need to know I told her dad jokes.
“And you. Let me guess you were talking to her on the school’s messaging board too.” Tav turns to Roman expecting the same answer.
“Nah, I've never talked to her a day in my life. Never seen her either while I was working at your place. So trust me, walking into that room and finding out she’s my Kismet was a shocker,” Roman tells him.
No one says anything for a minute. Our eyes drift from one person to another.
“But, just know now that I have her, I’m only going to play nice for a little bit. You best believe we’re going to be with her, and you’re going to stop acting like we’re the enemy. She got hurt on your watch. Just remember that,” Roman’s stern voice speaks.
“I’m going to let the aggressive attitude slide. For now,” Tav announces as his eyes move to something behind me. I turn, glancing over my shoulder to see Callux walking toward us.
“How are they?” Tav asks, while we all wait for the answer.
“Torin’s head is clear now. He still feels guilty and thinks she’s going to hate him. I stitched up his head, and he’s getting cleaned up. When he’s done, he’s going to take care of River and put her in his bed. He wants to make sure there’s no trace of their scent on her.”
“She’s going to want her alligator stuffie. We need to get it and wash it,” Josh says, standing up and heading back down the hallway to the bloodbath room. The nest she was going to have her heat in with an unknown pack.
“Did they?” I ask, the thought of it already hitting me hard.
“They didn’t bond with her, but when Torin came into the room, Marcus was fucking her and the other was forcing his cock down her throat.”
It happens so quickly that I’m caught off guard when Roman leans forward, gripping the coffee table and flipping it over.
“Calm down now, Roman. Acting like this will never get you near her. Not after everything she’s suffered in her life,” Tav says.
Everything she’s suffered. What’s happened to my omega?
I take a deep breath, working to calm myself.

Roman
A bond. I have a bond. I can’t believe this shit.
But I know nothing about her, unlike my brothers, who have at least spoken with her. She looked so frail and broken in the omega’s arms.
I need to know more. Reaching into my pocket I pull out my phone, hovering over the thread with my mysterious contact.
Me: I need your help.
“Who are you messaging?” Tav asks sharply. “There’s no contact with anyone while you’re here.”
“Fuck off,” I growl. I’m fucking tired of them thinking they can tell me what to do like I’m their bitch or something.
“Then we can do this the hard way and keep you restrained until Storm gets here. Either way, until River wakes and can confirm what you say, you’re not seeing her.
Or we can handle the three of you now and never tell her.
She hasn’t seen you, so it’s not like she would ever know you’re her Kismet bonds,” Tav says with conviction.
“Now I’ll ask again, who were you texting? ”
“I don’t know who he is. I was challenged to a fight by an opponent I had beaten. Then one day I get this random text about him and that he was planning to do something to me. This mysterious person then sent me all the information. Didn’t matter, he took care of them. Car accident.”
I watch as Tav and Callux share a knowing look. A small tug on the corners of their lips as they fight not to smile.
Something isn’t right.
Could they be my mysterious person?
“The person texting you is a he?”
“Yeah, I assume so. Why? He never questioned me when I called him a man.” Okay, now this is getting really weird.
“Did you get the message about them being in an accident on a Friday?” Tav asks.
Nash and Holden sit forward, their eyes drifting between me and them.
“Yeah. Are you the person messaging me? Why all these questions if it was you?” I question.
“Well, we took care of the two douchebags. Had fun doing it too. But the messages weren’t from us.” He looks over at Callux, as Josh comes back down the hallway, basket in hand filled with items.
“Josh, remember those guys we took care of. The special request from someone?” Tav asks, almost secretive about his words.
“Yeah. Why?”
“Seems it was for him.” He nods his head in my direction.
“No shit.” He smiles. “I got her stuffies from the house and her blankets but guess what else she had in there?” He holds up some clothing, shirts, a sweatshirt and a pair of shorts.
“She didn’t,” Callux gasps. “Wash those, and we’ll make sure to give her some we’ve worn so they’re around her when she wakes.”
That doesn’t make me happy. She should be surrounded by our scents. We’re her bonds. Not them.
“She can have our clothes.” Holden speaks up. “She’s our bond. Our scents will soothe her.”
“That’s what you claim; we have no proof of that. And our scents will work just fine.” Callux steps closer to Tav.
“Roman, I hate to inform you, but you have talked to River. Unknown is her. It’s what she does.
She finds out information to help people.
Especially omegas. She’s been doing it ever since Torin taught her how.
” He slides his gun into the back of his pants.
“And I’m only telling you this because if you’re lying about being her Kismet, then the three of you are dead. ”
Holy fuck. She’s full of damn mysteries.
