Chapter Thirteen #2

Linc knew what she was talking about. He could feel her juices drying on his face. Between her two orgasms and his one, the smell of sex was heavy in the air, their musky scent filling his nostrils. And he couldn’t get enough.

“I’m your mess,” he said softly.

“Yes,” she said with a nod. “You are.”

Her hair was spread out on the mattress, and it was everything Linc had dreamed of and more.

The only thing that could make it better was if it was his mattress.

His pillow. When he’d become such an alpha caveman, he had no idea.

He’d never been this way before. But Harper was changing all the rules.

“You ready for more?”

“With you? Always,” she said.

“This time will be slower. I won’t be so fast to lose it.”

“I like knowing I can make you lose that legendary control you’re so known for,” she said with a proud smile.

“You do,” he said, not ashamed in the least to admit it. “But I’m going to do my damnedest to last longer than ten seconds this time. You too sensitive? You think you can come again?”

“No, and yes. Maybe not right away, but you feel so good, Linc. You’ve done things to me that I’ve never experienced before. It’s always been difficult to make myself come, but I swear all you have to do is look at me with those fuck-me eyes and I’m a goner.”

Linc chuckled, then jerked in surprise with how good that felt as he was buried deep inside her pussy. “I think I’m the goner,” he told her.

The next thirty minutes were some of the most erotic of Linc’s life.

He managed not to come right away, and to get Harper to orgasm twice more before he finally let himself go.

The sheets were a mess, they were both sweaty, and he had no idea where their clothes ended up. But he’d never been more satisfied.

To his amazement, he fell into a light doze with Harper in his arms after he came deep inside her body for the second time—only slightly resentful of the condom as he removed it right before they fell asleep.

He woke up before Harper, as he’d done earlier, and had the chance to study her as she slept.

She really was the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen, even more so after several orgasms and absolutely relaxed.

He had no idea what was wrong with the modeling agencies in New York.

Why they hadn’t snatched her up the second she’d sauntered onto the scene all those years ago.

“How long was I asleep?” she asked groggily when she finally stirred.

“Not too long. Just over an hour.”

“Hmmmmm.” She stretched against him, and while his cock twitched, it seemed as if it’d had enough .

. . for the moment. Linc had no doubt tonight would be another story, and he’d be going at her as if it was their first time all over again.

He’d probably always be quick to come with her, but he honestly didn’t mind.

He knew it was because she was so sexy and he loved her so much.

But he’d always make sure she was satisfied, even if he was a two-second wonder.

“Thanks for remembering the condom,” she said after a moment. “I was a second away from taking you without it.”

“How do you feel about more kids?” He hadn’t meant to ask, but it was another important discussion, especially since he had no plans to lose this woman.

“Honestly?”

“Of course.”

“I don’t want them,” Harper admitted. “Don’t get me wrong, I love Kash with everything I am.

He’s the best thing that ever happened to me, even if the circumstances of his creation were horrible.

But being a mother is the most difficult thing I’ve ever done.

I don’t think I have it in me to do it again.

Even if I had a partner this time. I just .

. . maybe I’m selfish, but I feel as if I’m just starting to find myself again.

Having kids is a full-time job, and I want to experience life not being stressed all the time. ”

“Shhhh, you don’t have to justify your feelings.

Not with me. I hadn’t thought much about children, never really wanted any, but since spending time with Kash, I could see myself raising a kid .

. . with you. But I don’t need a child with my DNA to feel complete.

I love Kash. He’s awesome, and I love teaching him stuff, and having him teach me things as well.

But babies?” He shook his head. “I don’t really want one. ”

Harper stared at him for a long moment. “So we’re on the same page?”

“Looks like it.”

“I’ve wanted to get my tubes tied for a while now but couldn’t afford it. Just as I couldn’t afford birth control.”

“I know you don’t like to use my money, but I hope you’ll reconsider in this case, because it affects both of us.

We can talk about it more later, but in the meantime, I’ll be responsible for birth control for us.

I’ll protect you. I can even go a step further and admit that I’ve already talked to my doctor about a vasectomy. ”

“You have? Isn’t that a permanent thing? What if you change your mind?”

“They can be reversed, but in my case it would be permanent. I’m not going to change my mind.”

“Will your mom be upset?”

Linc’s eyebrow rose. “My sperm belongs to me, not my mother.”

Harper grimaced. “Yeah, that made more sense in my head than it did when I said it out loud. Sorry.”

Linc took a deep breath and decided to say what he was thinking.

He could either crash and burn or put their relationship on a sturdier heading with what he said next.

“I was actually afraid that you’d say you might want one, or two, or three more kids .

. . because I think that’s the only thing that could keep me from admitting that I’m falling for you, Harper.

I look forward to you coming home from work, and I like taking care of you, watching you blossom, now that you don’t have the weight of the world on your shoulders.

And I like how you take care of me in return. ”

Harper licked her lips as she stared up at him.

“Like this trip. You took it on yourself to plan it, to get the room reservations, to plan things for us to do. It means a lot. But wanting more children . . . it would’ve been a deal-breaker for me.”

“Linc—” she started, but he shook his head, stopping her from saying anything else.

“No, I’m not done. I was scared to tell you about my insomnia. Thought you might see it as a weakness. My own family doesn’t know the extent of my nightmares and inability to sleep through the night. But you didn’t even blink. Even scolded me for thinking you’d care.

“I love you, Harper Bates. It scares me to death because you’ve become so important to me in such a short period of time, but I’m no coward.

And I want you to know . . . even if you don’t or can’t return my feelings, I’m a better man for loving you.

For knowing you. If you want to move yourself and Kash out because you thought this was a casual thing, or because you thought we were friends with benefits or something, I’ll understand.

I’ll hate it, but I won’t stand in your way. ”

“Linc—”

“But I hope you’ll let me continue to see Kash,” Linc added almost desperately, talking over her.

Not willing to risk hearing her admit she didn’t want him the way he wanted her.

That she just wanted to be friends. “He’s incredible.

And I think he needs more masculine influence in his life.

Good influence. I promise I won’t ever be condescending to him.

I’ll support him in whatever he wants to do, and if he continues to have issues with bullies, I’ll do what I can to help.

I’ll even go to school and confront the assholes if I have to. ”

“Stop interrupting me!” Harper demanded, sounding exasperated when Linc finally paused.

He held his breath, hoping against hope she wouldn’t admit his feelings were too intense. Would say he had a chance to win her heart. Even if it was a small one, he’d take it. She was worth however long it took to woo her.

“I love you too.”

Linc opened his mouth to tell her that he’d wait forever for her to reach where he was—but closed it when her words sank in.

“You do?” he asked, sounding as unsure as a brand-new recruit at boot camp.

“How could I not? You’re everything I’ve ever dreamed of in a partner. But if you had wanted children, it would’ve been a deal-breaker for me too.”

Linc could hardly believe what he was hearing. “You aren’t just saying that? You and Kash have a place to stay as long as you want it regardless.”

Harper frowned. “Are you kidding me? You think I’d say I love you just because I want a place to live?”
