Chapter Six

Yet, for the entirety of the hour-long flight to Naples, Enzo Falco had absolutely no interest in the amenities. His entire universe had narrowed down to the woman currently seated sideways across his lap.

He had pulled Arielle into his arms before the jet had even reached cruising altitude, wrapping his large hands securely around her waist to anchor her against his chest. He was hopelessly consumed by her.

Having nearly lost his life to a shotgun blast to the chest months prior, Enzo had learned the agonizing fragility of time.

He was not going to waste a single second pretending he wasn't completely captivated.

He pressed a soft, lingering kiss to the bare skin of her shoulder, his eyes watching her face for a reaction.

He expected her to be overwhelmed. Most civilians who stepped onto a billionaire syndicate boss’s private jet spent the first thirty minutes staring wide-eyed at the crystal decanters and the lavish, soundproofed paneling.

Arielle, however, was flipping casually through a paperback novel, resting her head comfortably against his shoulder. She reached out, blindly picking up her glass of sparkling water from the mahogany table, taking a sip without so much as a single, awestruck glance at her surroundings.

"You are a remarkably unbothered woman, Ari," Enzo murmured, his deep voice vibrating against her collarbone as his thumb drew slow, affectionate circles on her hip.

Arielle turned a page in her book, a faint, amused smile touching the corners of her mouth. "Should I be bothered, Enzo? Is the cabin pressure malfunctioning?"

"No, the cabin pressure is flawless," Enzo chuckled, shifting his weight slightly so she fit more perfectly against him.

"But you are sitting in a multi-million-euro aircraft, sipping imported water, and you look as though you are taking a public bus to the grocery store.

Most people would at least pretend to be impressed by the leather upholstery. "

Arielle’s smile widened, though a fleeting shadow of her guarded past danced behind her eyes.

She was a Gambrelli. Before she had scrubbed her identity and fled to the sleepy coastal town, her childhood had been spent flying between Milan, Sicily, and the Russian borders in her father’s identical jets.

To the shadow ninja of the northern territories, private aviation was not a luxury; it was simply a standard logistical commute.

"The leather is very nice, Enzo," Arielle replied smoothly, closing her book and setting it on the table.

She turned her body, wrapping her arms loosely around his neck and looking directly into his mischievous eyes.

"But I find the view right in front of me to be infinitely more captivating than the upholstery. "

Enzo’s breath hitched. The effortless, devastating charm she possessed rivaled his own. He let out a low groan, burying his hands in her hair and pulling her down into a slow, searing kiss that tasted of high altitudes and raw, unyielding devotion.

"You are going to be the death of me," Enzo whispered against her lips.

"You promised me a tour of Naples," she teased softly, brushing a stray lock of hair from his forehead. "I fully intend to collect."

"You will have the city at your feet," Enzo swore, before a spark of brotherly annoyance flashed in his eyes.

"But first, we have to survive my family.

I am warning you now, Ari. Lorenzo and Marco are going to be absolutely insufferable.

They have spent the last year whipped by their wives, and they are going to relish every second of my downfall. "

"I think I can handle your brothers," Arielle smiled, resting her cheek against the steady, rhythmic beat of his heart.

The armored motorcade rolled through the towering wrought-iron gates of the Falco estate just as the afternoon sun began to dip toward the horizon.

The sprawling compound, perched high on the cliffs overlooking the Gulf of Naples, was a formidable fortress of ancient stone, surrounded by terraced lemon groves and armed perimeter guards.

As the oak doors of the grand foyer swung open, the scent of sea salt, roasting garlic, and old leather washed over them. The foyer itself was a masterpiece of Carrara marble and vaulted, frescoed ceilings.

Standing in the center of the marble floor, looking like two apex predators waiting for a feast, were Lorenzo and Marco Falco.

Lorenzo, the Don of Europe, was dressed in a pristine charcoal suit, his imposing, six-foot-two frame radiating an effortless authority. Beside him, Marco leaned casually against a marble pillar, his perpetually tousled hair catching the light, his arms crossed over his broad chest.

The moment Enzo stepped through the doors with his hand laced tightly through Arielle’s, Marco let out a loud, booming laugh that echoed off the vaulted ceilings.

"Behold!" Marco shouted, throwing his hands into the air in mock reverence. "The great, untamable wolf of the south returns! The last bastion of bachelorhood, brought to his knees by a woman in a cardigan!"

Lorenzo did not shout, but his analytical eyes crinkled with profound, unrepentant amusement.

The Don stepped forward, his gaze sweeping over his youngest brother with a look of pure, vindicated triumph.

"I must admit, Enzo, I expected you to hold out a little longer.

But clearly, your legendary willpower was no match for the Ligurian coast."

Enzo gritted his teeth, his face flushing a crimson as he pulled Arielle a fraction closer to his side. "I am not on my knees, Lorenzo. I am standing perfectly upright. And if you two do not behave, I will turn around and get back on the jet."

"You wouldn't dare," Marco grinned, stepping off the pillar and walking toward them. He bypassed his brother, his sharp, intelligent eyes landing on the tall, stunningly beautiful woman at Enzo’s side.

Marco extended a calloused hand. "Marco Falco.

It is an honor to meet the woman who finally silenced our brother.

We owe you a monumental debt of gratitude. "

Arielle looked at the two towering, men. To any ordinary civilian, the sheer aura of violence and power radiating from the Falco brothers would have been paralyzing.

But Arielle felt an immediate, overwhelming wave of profound comfort.

She had grown up flanked by Lucian, Anton, Stefan, and Vlad.

She was fluent in the language of overprotective, arrogant, endlessly loyal older brothers.

She understood the rough, mocking banter that masked a fierce, unyielding love.

Looking at Lorenzo and Marco, she didn't see mafia bosses; she saw the exact same brand of fiercely devoted brothers she had left behind.

Arielle took Marco's hand, her grip firm and unapologetic, and offered a brilliant, perfectly timed smile.

"The pleasure is mine, Marco," Arielle replied, her melodic voice carrying effortlessly through the grand foyer. "Though I must confess, silencing Enzo was not particularly difficult. It simply required a basic understanding of leverage."

Marco stared at her for a fraction of a second before throwing his head back and roaring with laughter. Lorenzo’s eyes lit up with genuine, profound approval, a slow, devastating smirk spreading across the Don's face.

"I like her," Lorenzo declared, stepping forward to offer his own hand, treating her instantly not as an outsider, but as a younger sister who had just effortlessly outflanked their most annoying sibling. "Welcome to our home, Arielle. Ignore Enzo’s complaining. You are under our protection now."

Enzo let out a loud, exasperated groan, dropping his head backward. "This is a nightmare. I have brought her into a den of traitors."

"Oh, stop whining, Enzo!" a sharp, fiercely energetic voice called out from the sweeping staircase.

Arielle looked up. Descending the marble stairs were two women who radiated a completely different, infinitely more lethal brand of lethality.

Roselia Zanetti-Falco moved like a blade sheathed in silk.

She was nearly six feet tall, her hair falling loose over her shoulders, her eyes sharp with pragmatic, tactical brilliance.

Beside her walked Raisa Voronina-Falco, the Bratva princess, a vision of pale blonde hair and piercing, sea-green eyes that shone with the cold, militaristic precision of the Spetsnaz.

The two women were practically vibrating with excitement. They had spent the last week tracking Enzo’s spectacular downfall from afar, eager to meet the mysterious Amazon who had dropped six men in an alleyway.

"We have been waiting for hours," Roselia announced, gliding across the marble to stand in front of Arielle. She offered a stunning, welcoming smile, her eyes evaluating Arielle’s athletic, commanding posture with immediate respect.

"I am Roselia. And this is Raisa. We are so incredibly thrilled you are here. "

"Yes," Raisa agreed, her thick Russian accent curling beautifully around the words as she stepped forward. "Any woman who can make Enzo pace the floors of a coastal villa is a woman we desperately need in this family."

Arielle looked at the two women. The air between them was electric with sisterly warmth and shared, formidable power. They were reaching out, offering her a place in their unbreakable, fiercely loyal inner circle.

And for the first time since she had arrived, Arielle felt a cold, paralyzing spike of pure terror pierce her chest.

She forced a polite, flawless smile to her lips, but the warmth did not reach her eyes. She took a microscopic, almost imperceptible step backward, her posture stiffening.

"It is wonderful to meet you both," Arielle murmured, her voice smooth, formal, and impeccably distant. "Enzo has told me so much about you."

She did not step forward to embrace them. She did not return their vibrant, welcoming energy. She remained cordially, undeniably removed.

The ghost of Marisella stood between them.
