Chapter Twelve #2
The screen flickered to life, revealing the opulent, wood-paneled study of the Voronin stronghold. Aleksandr "Sasha" Voronin sat behind his desk, dressed in a sweater, looking exhausted but profoundly at peace. Beside him, Dmitri Voronin was slouched in a leather armchair, cleaning a combat knife.
"Lorenzo. Marco," Sasha greeted, his deep, rumbling Russian accent filling the Neapolitan war room.
"Sasha," Lorenzo nodded respectfully. "How is Tamara?"
A rare, incredibly genuine smile broke across the Butcher of Moscow’s features. "She is magnificent. Heavily pregnant and lacking patience with my security protocols. The physician says the baby is due any day now. I am currently forbidden from leaving the estate."
"Pass on our deepest love to her," Marco grinned.
"I will," Sasha replied, his eyes shifting to Lorenzo, crinkling with profound amusement. "And allow me to extend my own congratulations, Lorenzo. Raisa informed us of Roselia's pregnancy. The Falco bloodline expands. I wish you nothing but health and a quiet fortress."
"Thank you, Sasha," Lorenzo smiled warmly.
"I must also commend your family on securing yet another staggering alliance through sheer, blind coincidence," Sasha chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief.
"Raisa told me the civilian accountant Enzo brought home is actually Arielle Gambrelli.
It is hilarious. The last Falco brother, the man who swore he would never fall, brought to his knees by a northern princess in disguise.
The universe has an incredible sense of humor. "
Lorenzo and Marco laughed, sharing the sentiment, before the Don of the Falcons smoothly pivoted the conversation.
"Speaking of the Gambrellis," Lorenzo began, his tone sobering into syndicate business.
"We have a slight anomaly on our perimeter.
Unidentified watchers. Given Arielle's presence, we suspect Lucian or Vlad may have sent a shadow detail to monitor her safety.
But asking them directly violates protocol. "
Dmitri stopped cleaning his knife, sitting up straight.
"Anton Gambrelli and I ran operations together in the Baltic two years ago," Dmitri volunteered, his voice a rough growl.
"We are on excellent terms. I can reach out to him personally.
An informal inquiry between enforcers. It won't trigger the diplomats. "
"We would appreciate that, Dmitri," Marco nodded.
Dmitri stood up, slipping his phone from his pocket, and stepped out of the camera's frame to make the call.
For five minutes, Sasha, Lorenzo, and Marco casually discussed the shifting tariffs in the Adriatic, the tension masking the quiet anxiety in the room.
The oak doors of the Moscow study clicked open, and Dmitri stepped back into the frame. The relaxed, brotherly demeanor was gone from the Russian enforcer's face. He looked grim.
"I spoke with Anton," Dmitri reported, his voice dropping into a dead, serious register. "The Gambrellis do not have anyone within two hundred miles of Naples. Their men are strictly holding the northern borders. Whoever is running surveillance on your estate, Lorenzo, it is not the Gambrellis."
The silence in the Neapolitan war room turned instantly to ice.
"Anton asked me a direct question," Dmitri continued, his cold eyes locking onto Lorenzo's. "He wants to know if Arielle is safe."
"She is safe," Lorenzo swore instantly, his voice vibrating with the unyielding authority of the Don. "She is not currently at the estate. She is with Enzo, packing up her apartment in the coastal town. They return in two days."
"Ensure she remains safe," Sasha warned softly, the Bratva king recognizing the phantom scent of an approaching war. "If the Gambrellis are not watching your walls, then someone else is. Watch your shadows, Lorenzo."

The sun was shining brightly over the cobblestone piazza of the Ligurian coastal town, ignorant of the geopolitical tension brewing in Naples.
Arielle stepped out of the small, bustling café, balancing two cups of steaming espresso in her hands.
The air smelled of roasted beans and sea salt.
She walked toward the edge of the piazza, where Enzo was leaning casually against the hood of the sleek, black sports car.
He was wearing aviators, his arms crossed over his chest, looking like a devastatingly handsome, untouchable prince of the underworld.
"Excuse me, Signorina."
Arielle paused. A man in a nondescript beige jacket had stepped into her path. He offered a polite, harmless smile, holding up a folded map. "I am so sorry to bother you, but I am lost. Could you point me toward the train station?"
Arielle’s posture remained relaxed. She balanced the coffees, offering a warm smile. "Of course. Go straight past the fountain, take your first left down Via Roma, and it is right at the end of the street."
"Thank you," the man nodded graciously. He didn't linger. He didn't make a sudden movement. He simply turned and walked away, disappearing into the midday crowd.
Arielle continued her path to the car, holding out an espresso cup.
Enzo did not take the cup immediately. The youngest Falco brother was standing perfectly rigid.
He had pushed his aviators up onto his head, his eyes tracking the retreating back of the stranger with unblinking possessiveness.
His right hand had subconsciously dropped to hover near the concealed weapon at his waistband.
"Who was that?" Enzo demanded, his voice a low, gravelly rasp of pure territorial instinct.
Arielle laughed, a bright, musical sound, pressing the warm cup into his hand. "I don’t know, maybe a tourist. He just wanted to know where the train station was. Put the fangs away Enzo. You are glaring at pedestrians."
Enzo tore his gaze away from the crowd, looking down at the beautiful, laughing woman in front of him. The fierce, possessive tension in his jaw slowly relaxed, melting into a helpless, devoted sigh.
"I am protective," Enzo muttered, wrapping his free arm securely around her waist to pull her flush against his side, burying his nose in her hair. "I do not like strangers standing in your breathing space."
"You are ridiculous," Arielle smiled, kissing his cheek. "Drink your coffee. We have boxes to tape."

Two days later, the quiet chapter of Arielle’s coastal exile officially closed.
The Falco syndicate’s private Gulfstream G650 climbed smoothly through the azure expanse of the Mediterranean sky, the muted roar of the engines a steady hum in the background. The main cabin was a sanctuary of polished mahogany and cream leather, insulated from the rest of the world.
Arielle was curled up on the expansive, sunken leather sofa. She didn't have a book this time. She didn't need a distraction.
Enzo was seated sideways, his back against the armrest, holding her securely across his lap.
She was wrapped in a soft cashmere blanket, her head resting over his heart.
He spent the entire flight treating her as if she were the most precious, fragile artifact on earth.
His hands constantly moved over her—stroking her back, tangling in her hair, pulling her up to capture her lips in slow, deep, devastatingly romantic kisses.
"You are incredibly distracting, Enzo," Arielle murmured against his mouth, her eyes fluttering shut as his thumb traced her jawline.
"I have exactly forty minutes before we land in Naples and my family completely overwhelms us," Enzo whispered, kissing the corner of her mouth, his voice thick with raw devotion. "I intend to monopolize every remaining second of your attention."
Arielle smiled, leaning her weight fully into his embrace. The boxes were packed. Her ghost identity was severed. As the jet banked south toward the fortified compound of the Falco dynasty, she closed her eyes, resting in the unyielding warmth of the man she loved at peace.
