Chapter 12
It may sound shocking, but I’ve never really liked birthday parties, or surprises in general.
But, turning thirty-three was a milestone, and I knew the women in my life wouldn’t let it pass without marking it in the most wonderful way they could manage.
I loved them for it, of course, but I also had a sneaking desire to celebrate my thirtieth in front of the TV with Vi, doing absolutely nothing.
On my birthday, I woke up to find myself alone in bed.
No, it’s not sad, that is a rather common occurrence for me and Vi…
I don’t know how many late-night hookups have occurred when one of us gets to talking to someone…
the talking turns to flirting, then sexting, and…
well, I have good reason to believe she was at Yara’s this morning, if I had to guess.
I walked into the kitchen to find a letter placed on the countertop. The stiff, ivory-colored paper stood in stark contrast to the dark grey surface. A surface that Vi had cleaned up sometime in the night, because our kitchen never looked this good.
The smile on my face began to spread before I even picked it up. The words “To Emma” and “From Morrigan” were pressed into the surface in shiny black ink and embossed. Whatever else would I expect from someone as fanciful as Morrigan, right?
I picked the letter up and flipped it over, breaking the purple wax seal. The letter inside told me that today was not going to be a day of rest, or a day of calm. No, it would be quite the opposite, and chances are I would love every last second of it.
Dearest Emma,
I’ve been told it’s your birthday, and your girlfriend Vi has found reason to reach out to me to plan a little celebration for you.
Aren’t you just the luckiest? Now, Emma, if you are planning on this little soirée to just be a birthday spanking or two, I have news for you, because it’s going to be far, far more than that.
Oh, no, dear…we are going to show you such a dreadfully wonderful time tonight, a night I’m quite sure you’re not ready for, but that’s why it’s a surprise, right?
But first, some rules:
Rule 1:
You will arrive at the front door of my home promptly at 5pm. Don’t be late, you do not want to see what we do to laggards.
Rule 2:
In order to have today reach its full potential, you are allowed zero sexual satisfaction before your arrival. I want all of that energy ready for me and the things I have in store for you, dear girl, so we certainly won’t be wasting it on things that don’t involve me.
To help you to stay honest and pure, Vi has been ordered to leave your home as to not tempt you further.
I need her for preparations anyway, and I’ve seen how you two get along, there’s simply no way you could keep your hands off each other in the lead-up to this, so, I’ve decided to temporarily make Vi mine.
You will also put on the biometric monitor that is part of the charming little Control Me bundle you created.
You’ve made quite a gadget here, Emma…one that can track a person’s every move, every little fluctuation in body temperature or rise in heart rate.
Your domme will be watching you from afar, Emma, and I will know if you get up to anything, so, please be on your best behavior.
Rule 3:
It’s a special day, and I believe it should be celebrated in style. I expect you to be in your finest when you show up to my door, and I shall be a harsh judge of your fashion choices. If you do not have anything that fits into that definition, please find the nearest boutique and remedy it.
You will also put on makeup and be as glamorous as possible. Vi has sent a playlist of YouTube videos to your email if you need help on getting your makeup looking just right.
You will wear your hair in a tight braid, as I will need something to grip onto.
Rule 4:
The first thing you will say when you arrive at my home is your safeword. We can exchange pleasantries later, but, I want you to prove to me just how ready you are for this.
Warmly,
Mistress Morrigan
I put the letter down and grinned broadly. OK, maybe I wasn’t a fan of parties, but I was a fan of a needlessly elaborate setup, so, I was rather excited.
Walking on light feet, I wandered back into the bedroom to find something to wear.
I had nothing against people who liked to dress up in frills and fineries, it just wasn’t my kind of thing.
But, I knew if I showed up in yet another techwear look that would probably baffle Brenda, it wouldn’t get a warm reception.
And it’s not like I didn’t have nice things to wear.
I walked into the closet and pulled at the outfits on the hangers before I finally got to the back.
I unzipped the garment bag to reveal a shimmery emerald green dress with a neckline that plunged halfway down to my navel and ruching that ran down the side, which was a wonderful little sensory detail.
I could calm my nerves a bit by running my fingers along the fine ridges if I needed to, and usually when I was in a dress, I had reasons to calm my nerves.
I grabbed it from the rack along with a silver pendant on a lacy, fine silver chain. To finish things off, I grabbed a silver ear cuff that hugged the curve of my ear so perfectly.
Since I was going to go for surprises tonight, when I opened my underwear drawer, I really swung for the fences.
I found a pair of sheer crotchless panties that hid basically nothing but made my pussy look unbelievable, and a strapless balconette bra that matched the dress perfectly, giving anyone looking a nice little peek at the lace and boning if they decided to gaze at my plunging neckline… and trust me, I wanted them to gaze.
Like I said, all of this clothing stuff was usually a sensory nightmare for me…
it’s why I usually opted for comfort and utility above all, and I was sure once I got all of this on, it would still be that to some degree.
But, I researched sensory-friendly jewelry so that I could find a chain that wouldn’t feel like stray hairs brushing against my neck, and I found that the particular satin that my dress was made out of hugged my body in a comforting way without feeling like I was going to slide off of my chair when I sat down. So, it was a balance.
Plus, it was fun to test my boundaries sometimes, and while I obviously did that quite a bit when it came to sex, I was trying to do it more when it came to my life outside of it as well. Comfort is good, until it isn’t, right?
I watched some of the tutorials Vi sent me, and it was touching how much she had curated it for me precisely. She knows I’m not the best with makeup, so it was a list of more low-key looks compared to the dramatic and theatrical ones she sometimes liked to sport.
As I finished everything up, I looked at myself in the mirror and felt really good about the fact that I did this all on my own.
Sure, maybe my eyeliner wings were a little crooked, and my lipstick was probably a little dark for my skin tone, but, that was just my negativity talking, and I couldn’t give it more time.
No, make no mistake, I was fucking hot.
I put the necklace on, relishing in the feeling of the small oval of silver resting precisely at the join of my collarbones.
The light pressure and warmth of the metal was so comforting.
The ear cuff slipped on easily too, hugging the rim of my ear just enough to stay there, but not making my ear feel weighed down or obstructed.
I told myself that maybe I liked jewelry more than I thought I did, and I should wear it more.
After I was all dolled up, I glanced at my phone and saw that it was only 12:30.
I decided to order delivery and enjoy a pizza for myself…
it’s my birthday and I had no need to worry about Vi’s lactose intolerance.
With absolute care not to drip any of the grease onto the dress and ruin this look, I ate lunch while scrolling through my phone.
It took me everything to not try to contact Vi or the group chat, but rules were rules, so I complied.
After a bit of gaming and a bit of reading, I saw it was 3:30, and LA traffic did not care if I got somewhere late, but I had to care.
I got everything together and plotted my course to Brenda and Wendy’s, an amazing night waiting for me once I endured the gauntlet of the freeway, which was its own kind of torture, and not a kind I liked.
I fully typed a text out to Vi telling her I was heading out before stopping myself.
I smirked…I was never the kind of person to really feel the need to update someone on my every move, but Vi had changed that in me.
I loved making sure she knew what I was doing, and our little exchanges throughout the day gave me little bursts of happiness.
I’m a girl that lives for the group chat, and I know all of this sounds so goddamn sappy, but, there was something so much different about me and Vi, and I made sure she knew exactly how special that was every time I could.
Shit…I looked at my phone and saw that it was now 3:45 and I was running late because I loved my girlfriend too much. Probably not the worst reason to be late, but a reason Morrigan would inevitably mock me for. So, I got to it and headed out to keep the mocking to a minimum.
