Chapter 7 #2
“Broke us?” Jake shot back, stepping closer, fists clenched. “You think I wanted this? You think I wanted to find out my wife was out there, fucking some rock star?”
She yelled out, “And you think it’s okay for you to do the same? You act like I’m the only one who messed up, but you…”
“Enough!” Jake slammed his hand down on the counter, voice booming. “You’re spinning lies to cover your own selfish choices!”
Kylee’s eyes flashed. “Selfish? What about you? You destroyed us. You destroyed me. I didn’t ask for this nightmare.”
Jake’s face twisted with pain and rage. “Maybe if you’d been honest with me, none of this would have happened.”
“Honest?” she sneered. “You’re the last person I want to be honest with.”
The shouting filled the house, echoing off the walls, two shattered souls tearing apart what little remained between them.
Jake’s eyes narrowed, venom dripping from his words. “You’re nothing but a whore, Kylee. You gave him exactly what he wanted, and now he’s done with you. Just like that.”
Kylee’s jaw clenched, fury sparking in her eyes. “I wasn’t some whore! What we had was real. He’s more of a man than l you’ll ever be.”
Her voice rose, sharp and loud, echoing through the room. “And you know what, Jake? He ate my pussy and didn’t think it was gross! And it felt amazing!”
The words hit him like a punch. For a heartbeat, the rage faltered, but then he yelled back, “WHAT?! That just shows how pathetic you are.”
Kylee stepped forward, fists trembling but fierce. “No, Jake. That shows I’m worth more than you ever realized. You were too blind to see it. I’m not gross like fucking your receptionist on your gross desk”
The tension spiraled higher, their voices clashing like storms, two wounded hearts unraveling in a war of words, truth and pain mingling with bitter accusations.
Jake’s face twisted in fury, his voice rising even higher. “You think you’re so special? You think he actually loves you? Please. He’s just using you just like you used me! You would be nothing without me, you had nothing without me! ”
Kylee’s chest heaved, tears burning her eyes but her voice stayed steady, fierce. “I never used anyone, Jake.”
He slammed his fist against the wall, making her flinch. “I messed up, yeah, but no one knew about it. The whole fucking world knows about you Kylee! That’s just pathetic.”
She took a shaky breath, stepping closer, fire in her eyes. “Maybe. But at least he saw me. He wanted me. You looked right through me. You never even tried.”
Jake snarled, venom dripping in his words. “You probably went to one of those rock star parties and did drugs too! Huh?! I hope you used a condom when you fucked because if not, you definitely have an STD and you better not end up pregnant. I will kill you.”
Kylee’s eyes widened in shock, hurt flashing through her rage. “How dare you say that?”
She took a deep breath, fighting back tears and fury. “You’re a monster, Jake. I don’t know how I ever loved you.”
The room fell silent except for their heavy breaths, the weight of everything they’d said hanging thick in the air. Jake stormed down the hallway, shoving clothes into Jake Jr’s overnight bag while they stood confused and quiet in the living room.
“Jake, stop!” Kylee begged, chasing after him. “You’re not taking Him! We can talk about this! Just stop!”
He zipped up the last bag and looked her dead in the eyes. “No. I’m taking him away from you. You have the girls who are so much like you already they will grow up to be whores just like you!”
“Are you fucking kidding me Jake? What the fuck is wrong with you?!” Kylee yelled.
Jake marched past her, opening the door, he turned back, voice cold and sharp. “Mommy’s too busy being a little whore who fucks rock stars.”
She couldn’t breathe. Her heart felt like it was being crushed in her chest. Sobbing uncontrollably, she crawled across the floor to where her phone had fallen and fumbled to call the only person she could think of.
“Rio…” Her voice cracked as he answered. “Jake took Jake Jr. He....He called me a whore in front of them. He said he’s taking him far away from me. He left the girls and said they will be a whore just like me!”
“What? Are you serious?” Rio’s voice changed instantly from warm to dangerous. “Where are you right now?”
“At home. I don’t…I don’t know what to do, Rio…”
“I’m getting on a plane now,” he said without hesitation. “You’re not going through this alone. I’m coming to get you.”
“Please,” she whispered, tears still falling, “please just get here.”
Kylee’s hands trembled as she finally got through to Kelly. The second Kelly answered, Kylee broke down in sobs so hard she could barely speak.
“Kelly,” she cried, voice cracking. “He took Jakey. Jake took him! He called me a whore in front of them… said he’s taking him far away from me.”
Kelly’s voice instantly sharpened. “What?! Are you serious? Oh my god, Kylee, what the hell is happening?”
“I called Rio,” Kylee choked out.
“He said he’s flying in. I don’t even know if this was worth it. Maybe I fucked everything up.”
Kelly was quiet for a moment, then said gently, “First of all, no. You didn’t fuck everything up. Jake’s been screwing up long before Rio ever came into the picture. You gave your whole damn life to that man.”
Kylee wiped her face with the sleeve of her shirt. “I guess we’re about to see if this was real. If Rio meant everything he said.”
“You’re not alone, okay?” Kelly said firmly. “He’s coming. And you’ve got me, too. Whatever happens, we’ll get through this. You’re not some villain in this story, Kylee. You’re just a woman who finally chose herself.”
Kylee sat down on the edge of the couch, phone pressed to her ear, her body still shaking but her breath slowing a little.
“I just want my baby back,” she whispered.
“And you’ll get him,” Kelly promised. “Let Rio come. Let’s see what he does next. You deserve someone who doesn’t run when the second things get hard.”
After hanging up with Kelly, Kylee sat in silence.
She curled her knees up to her chest on the couch, letting the silence settle.
Her mind kept replaying Jake’s words: “I hope you used a condom. I’ll kill you if you end up pregnant.
You’re a little whore who likes to fuck rock stars.
Your daughters will be a whore just like you!
” But then, she remembered Rio’s voice, gentle and sure:“Go back. Get the kids. Come back to me.” And Kelly’s: “You’re just a woman who finally chose herself. ”
Kylee slowly got up. Her body ached like she’d been in a car wreck, but she moved.
Kylee did everything she could to hold herself together while waiting on Rio.
Her heart was in shambles, but she refused to let Macy and Kayla see her fall apart.
She got up, wiped her tears, and pulled herself into the bathroom to clean up her face.
Her hands were trembling as she brushed her hair and tied it back in a messy bun.
Inside, she was unraveling, but for them, she stayed steady. She held it together because that’s what moms do even when the world is falling apart. Every second felt heavier than the last, but she knew she had to be strong, just a little longer, until Rio showed up.
Kylee felt like she was sleepwalking, numb, heavy, cracked wide open beneath the surface.
Every breath burned in her chest, every noise felt too loud, and every minute without her son felt like punishment.
The house felt hollow without Jake Jr.’s voice echoing through it, and the silence was unbearable.
She kept hearing Jake’s voice in her head, the things he said, the venom in his words. "Whore." "STD." "I’ll kill you."
And then the words he said to their Girls.
The memory of their confused faces cut like a knife.
And Rio… She replayed every moment from the weekend, trying to hold onto the warmth of his voice, the way he looked at her like she was magic.
But now, doubt crept in. Would he really show up?
Or would she be just another story left behind in the smoke of his spotlight?
She didn’t know. But she hoped. Because if Rio didn’t show up…
she wasn’t sure how much more she could take.
Hours passed and Kylee heard a car door slam.
She rushed to the front door, her heart pounding in her throat.
When she opened it, there he was…Rio.But this wasn’t the playful, flirty version of him she’d grown used to.
This was a man on fire. He stormed through the doorway, his jaw clenched, eyes wild.
“Where is he?” he growled, voice sharp and low.
“Where the fuck is he, Kylee? He will not get away with this.”
Kylee stood frozen, stunned. He was here. He really came. “I….I don’t know,” she stammered, trying to calm him down. “He took my son… he left. I don’t know where.”
Rio’s eyes darkened. “He called you a whore? Told your kids that? Called your daughters that! After cheating on you?” He looked like he could punch through a wall.
She blinked fast, trying not to cry. “Yes. He lost it. I don’t know what to do. This is all my fault!”
Rio looked at her, finally really looked.
Her face was pale, her eyes red, and her hands shaking.
And just like that, his anger softened into heartbreak.
“God, Kylee…This is not your fault! “He stepped closer and pulled her into his arms. Her body sank into his like it belonged there.
She clutched his shirt, finally letting the tears fall freely.
“I didn’t think you’d come,” she whispered against his chest.
He held her tighter. “Of course I came. You think I’d leave you to deal with this alone? Hell no! You don’t deserve this. None of this.”
Kylee looked up at him, eyes glassy. “I’m so glad you’re here.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” he promised. “Not now. Not ever.”
