Chapter 3

Desire

My broken princess seems to have had enough thrills for one night. When Aurora saw the gun, she nearly had a heart attack, so I’m driving her home. She doesn’t even ask how I know the address. Though I’ve already admitted to stalking her, so the question would be redundant.

I didn’t get any release. My muscles are cramping from a hard-on that won’t quit, but I know how to take care of my toys. I’m not going to just fuck Aurora roughly in the back seat on some primal impulse. I’ll drag this pleasure out. I’ll make her beg me for the pain, for the release.

I want to fuck and I want to kill, but the time isn’t right for either.

Zack is a perfect target, and I’ll deal with him, but only after I find out which of the Vances he made a deal with to marry Aurora.

I don’t leave loose ends. This knot needs to be unraveled.

I’ll have to watch the bastard a little longer.

Aurora doesn’t close the glove compartment the whole drive. She’s mesmerized, unable to tear her eyes away from the mask and gun. I like this hunted look. When she’s this afraid of me, there’s simply no room left for her to fear anyone else. The way it should be.

Truth is, I didn’t plan on revealing myself tonight.

Yes, I left the mask in the car, but only because I’m used to being ready for anything.

But when she said Zack was pretending to be the Prince, there was no need for secrecy anymore.

I found out why my broken princess let him stay by her side. Time to stake my claim.

We pull up, and I kill the engine. I study the windows of her apartment. I don’t like that there are no bars on them. That’ll be fixed soon.

Aurora watches me tensely. Her fingers hover an inch from the door handle then drop back to her lap.

“When Kelsey and I were at the Kingdom, I heard a groan coming from your club,” she mutters. “Sounded like someone was in a lot of pain.”

Looking at her, I imagine taking her rough, her voice breaking as she screams my name when I pull out of her tight cunt and come all over her pretty face.

“Desire?”

“You don’t need to think about that.”

She licks her lips and glances at the gun again. “I’m already a witness to one of your crimes.” She lifts her chin.

I smirk. Aurora is curious. And smart. She doesn’t fool herself—she knows exactly what I am. But about one thing, she’s fatally wrong.

“Wrong, Princess. You and me? We’re accomplices.”

She closes her eyes and lets out a quiet sob. Her lips part, her breath quickening. Aurora Vance. Innocent, sweet, and thick as honey. And fucking hungry. Hungry for sex and absolute security. No man can give her what I can. And if anyone dares to try, I’ll kill the bastard.

“I killed Thornton, and you didn’t give me up. We’re bound by blood. And I want my cock bathed in the blood of your innocence.”

I’ve wanted this since the moment I first saw her—pure and broken—in Thornton’s basement.

I haven’t fucked anyone since that day, and from this raw hunger, my blood is burning in my veins.

If we’d just run into each other on the street or in a university hallway, I would have walked right past without a glance.

And I would have missed the treasure. But I saw her, and she’s exactly what I fucking want.

My reward for everything I’ve done. A trophy for my pleasure. My prize.

She opens her eyes, looks at me, and presses her trembling lips together.

“You only want me because I’m afraid of you.”

Yeah, she’s definitely smart. I promised I’d never lie to her, so I respond with total honesty. “Exactly. Because no one in this fucking world is as scared of me as you are. And that’s the same reason you want to be with me.”
