Chapter 17 The Final Battle
Fu Yanan truly deserved his reputation as former grand general.
At his single command the Empire's soldiers obeyed him and fought the Insectoid to the death.
Shang Xu joined the fight as well.
Zhou Zilang protected me beneath the corridor.
Whenever an Insectoid approached, he dispatched it cleanly with his dagger.
I teased him to ease the tension. "I didn't know you were this strong either."
He gave a gentlemanly bow. "At your service."
Gradually the Insectoid fell behind.
Seeing the situation worsen, the Queen reached for the Chip's Controller.
Nothing happened.
She stared at the Controller in disbelief.
Zhou Zilang and I exchanged a smile. I had swapped that button the night before.
Soon the Insectoid leader was captured and admitted defeat.
"I was only using this stupid woman. Now that it has failed, I accept my bad luck."
The Queen froze. "What did you say... you were using me!"
The Insectoid leader sneered. "Did you really think I would love you?"
The Queen went mad and stabbed at him with a dagger.
"Watch out!" I pulled Shang Xu aside.
Her true target had been Shang Xu all along.
In the end I was the one she seized.
The dagger pressed against my neck, blood flowing.
"Let her go!"
All three men shouted at once.
The Queen sneered. "That depends on how far you are willing to go!"
