CORNERED #2

"It’s the truth, Elara," Julian murmured, turning to her, his large hands framing her face, entirely ignoring Marcus and Sarah. "I’m done hiding. I want the whole world to know exactly how completely ruined I am for you."

Sarah stared at them, her mouth open. She looked from Julian’s fierce, unwavering gaze to Elara’s tear-stained, deeply devoted face. The PR director slowly lowered the stack of drafted statements.

"My god," Sarah whispered, the realization finally hitting her. "You aren't faking it anymore. You’re actually... you’re in love."

"Brilliant deduction, Sarah," Marcus muttered dryly, though a massive, relieved smile broke across his face. He looked at his sister. "Are you sure about this, El? This isn't a controlled environment. If we go out there with no script, no safety net... it’s going to be absolute chaos."

Elara looked up at the massive, scarred, beautiful man holding her.

She remembered the fear that used to dictate her life with Declan.

The constant anxiety of saying the wrong thing, of ruining his image.

Standing here with Julian, entirely exposed to the worst scandal of her life, she felt absolutely nothing but profound, indestructible peace.

"I don't need a safety net," Elara said fiercely, her husky voice ringing with newfound power. She gripped Julian’s wrists, pressing his palms tighter against her cheeks. "I have Julian. We tell the truth, Marcus. All of it."

"Okay," Marcus exhaled a long breath, nodding sharply. "Then we don't sneak out the back. We call a press conference. Right on the front steps of the hotel. If we are going to drop a bomb, we make sure everyone is watching."

"Give us an hour," Julian commanded, not breaking eye contact with Elara. "Set up the mics. Tell hotel security to clear a perimeter. And then get out of my suite."

Marcus grabbed Sarah’s arm, pulling the stunned PR director toward the door. "One hour, Julian. Be ready."

The heavy mahogany door clicked shut, plunging the penthouse back into a thick, intimate silence.

Julian didn't move. He kept his hands framed around her face, his thumbs gently stroking her cheekbones. The fierce, warlord energy that had commanded the room slowly faded, leaving only the desperate, starving lover behind.

"An hour," Julian murmured, his gaze dropping to her lips. "That’s a lot of time to kill."

"Are you trying to distract me, Thorne?" Elara whispered, a breathless, smoky laugh escaping her.

"I am trying to remind you exactly what we are fighting for," Julian corrected, his voice dropping into a ragged, guttural purr.

He didn't wait for her to answer. Julian leaned down, capturing her mouth in a kiss that was entirely devoid of gentleness. It was a claim. His tongue swept past her parted lips, tasting of dark, raw desire and absolute possession.

Elara gasped, her hands flying up to tangle in his dark, sleep-tousled hair. The fear of the impending press conference completely evaporated, burned away by the sheer, overwhelming heat of his touch.

Julian’s hands slid down her body, gripping her hips and lifting her effortlessly. She wrapped her legs around his narrow waist, her arms locking securely around his broad shoulders. He carried her away from the living room, marching directly back into the master bedroom.

He laid her down on the tangled white sheets, following her down immediately. His massive frame bracketed her body, his knees spreading her thighs apart, pressing his hips flush against hers.

"I need you to know," Julian rasped, his lips blazing a scorching trail down her jaw, pressing hot, open-mouthed kisses into the sensitive pulse point of her neck. "No matter what happens out there today. No matter what they write. You are mine, Elara. Only mine."

"Yours," she sobbed softly, arching her back as his hands deftly pushed the white t-shirt up and over her head, tossing it onto the floor.

The physical connection was a desperate necessity, a way to anchor themselves before the storm. Julian worshipped her with a violent, beautiful devotion. He mapped every inch of her skin with his mouth, his calloused hands exploring her with agonizing slowness, driving her entirely out of her mind.

When he finally pushed into her, the sensation was so profound, so intensely deep, that Elara cried out, her back bowing off the mattress.

Julian squeezed his eyes shut, a harsh groan tearing from his chest. He held perfectly still for a second, savoring the tight, exquisite friction of her body yielding to him, before he began to move.

It was a slow, punishingly deep rhythm. There was no rush.

This was a profound, physical communication.

He was pouring every ounce of his love, his terror, and his fierce protectiveness directly into her.

Elara writhed beneath him, completely untethered, lost in a haze of pure, blinding ecstasy.

She dragged her nails down the heavy, corded muscles of his back, her husky voice broken into soft, desperate whimpers.

"Look at me," Julian commanded softly, his voice shaking with the monumental effort of his restraint.
