Chapter Six

Casey and I sadly didn’t have any shared lessons that day, and once dinner time came around, he was stolen away by Harpy so they could “talk”, whatever that meant.

I was slightly grumpy as I returned to my room, my roommate, Arthur, once again nowhere to be seen.

He was a hedgehog shifter and preferred to nest under his bed.

I’d only seen him in his human form in classes and when we ate, it seemed he preferred his hedgehog form over his human one.

I wasn’t about to judge, but I did wish for someone to complain to right now, sadly, I couldn’t do that to a guy I barely knew.

It was still too early for bed, but I didn’t want to wander around the academy, hoping to find Casey.

So I simply got undressed and into my nightclothes.

It took some time because of my sling, but there was no way I was asking Arthur to help me.

I then grabbed a book to read. We were allowed to borrow all the books we desired from the library, but only five at a time.

This was my third book since coming here and I welcomed the distraction as I got comfortable. Tomorrow, Casey would be mine.

Niels was beaming at us as we slowly made our way into his classroom.

We were only about twenty today, so he was definitely on the hunt for some one-on-one time with most of us.

I shivered at the thought. Niels was nice enough, but he could be intense.

Casey wasn’t with me in this class, and I missed him like crazy.

“Welcome shifters!” Niels greeted us, smiling excitedly. “I have an assignment for you today, so, sadly, no shifting.”

I’d already figured as much. When shifting was needed, our classes with Niels would be held outside.

Now we were in a classroom, Ryn next to me as we sat and watched Niels speak.

We tended to stick together whenever we had classes with one another, but it wasn’t often I was alone with Ryn.

It might actually very well be the first time.

Niels began handing out a paper for each of us.

The writing didn’t tell me much but Niels was quick to return to his spot in front of the chalkboard.

“Now class, I want you to write down the following.” He wrote five things on the board, favorite food, favorite nap place, favorite play, favorite height, favorite smell.

“I want you to write down the answers to these questions about your shifted form. You’ll write your name on the paper and hand it over once class ends.

It will help me get a clearer vision of how well balanced you are with your forms. Begin. ”

I began writing with the ink in front of me, slowly dipping my pen and swirling the ink around as I thought about what I enjoyed the most in my racoon form.

Favorite food had to be watermelon. I fucking adored that.

And favorite smell was easy enough, too, with Casey’s peach scent still lingering in my nose.

That had to be the best smell above all others.

Before I’d finished writing down everything, I spotted Damon—the dragon shifter who’d made Nym fall from a great height, before apologizing and befriending him—approach Niels. Ryn was watching them, too, intensely it seemed.

“What can I do for you, Damon?” Niels said, sounding chipper.

“I, um, was just wondering if I should fill out both sides of the paper or two separate papers for my forms?”

Damon had two forms, but I only knew of his dragon one, the other was still a mystery to all of us.

Niels sighed. “This is just the thing I meant when we had our private meeting last time. Damon, you can’t see them as separate forms, you need to fill out the form thinking of what they both like, not one for each.”

Damon looked as confused as I felt. “But isn’t that the same thing?” he asked.

Niels just sighed again, and to my surprise, Ryn stood and joined them in front of the class, looking furious as he stepped in front of Damon, protecting him from Niels.

“If he feels they’re separate forms, as they fucking are,” Ryn spat, making me blink in surprise. “Then he can fucking treat them as such. He’s still doing the assignment, he just has two forms, and should’ve been given two fucking papers and not a lecture.”

Damon looked stunned behind Ryn’s back, as did Niels. I doubted this was the first time a student had yelled at him. He mostly made them cry. But I was certain others had turned to anger as well.

Niels was still speechless, just watching Ryn with wide eyes.

Ryn took another paper and handed it to Damon, who took it, still wide-eyed.

Ryn’s eyes softened when Damon looked at him and I swore I’d never seen my cousin look so fondly at anyone before.

Ryn then returned to his seat, ignoring my gaping mouth and the silence in the room as all of the students’ attention was still on him.

Casey wasn’t at dinner and I was starting to feel restless with my need for him.

We’d only shared one kiss and I was starving for another taste of him.

I finished my book last night and was looking through the library for my next one, my mind wandering to Casey’s beautiful smile and enticing scent. Fuck, I missed him.

It was as if the thought of him made the scent of peaches appear, luring my nose further down the rows of books.

Casey stood on tiptoes, trying to reach a book that he would never be able to grab. I approached him slowly, making sure my steps were soft as I caged him in against the bookshelf, sniffing his neck before kissing it, making him shiver.

“Jamie,” he whispered.

“Sweetheart,” I purred. “Have you been avoiding me?”

I kept kissing his neck, my good arm resting on his belly as I slowly teased my way under his shirt, touching his skin.

“N-no,” he stammered, my hand now skimming along the top of his pants. I ached to touch him more, to finally feel his dick in my hand.

“No?” I chuckled. “Then why haven’t I been able to claim you yet?” I reached into his underwear, palming his silky-smooth hard cock.

“Oh, fuck,” he moaned.

“I’d planned to,” I whispered. “But again, I was left all alone without a mate to sink into.”

“Jamie, please.” He tilted his head back, resting it atop my shoulder. His eyes were closed, his mouth open as I continued to stroke his length.

“Please what, my sweetheart?”

I was barely holding back; the only reason I wasn’t grinding into him was because of my broken arm. I only had the one I could use and I was determined to bring him pleasure even with just one functioning arm.

“Make me come, please,” he whispered and how was I to deny him anything when he asked so prettily?

“Anything for you, sweetheart.” I kissed his neck as I upped my speed, stroking him in earnest now.

We were in public, but far enough in the back that I felt secure that we wouldn’t be interrupted.

I also needed to hear more of the soft sounds that escaped my mate’s mouth.

Casey was gorgeous, and so were his moans it seemed.

I couldn’t believe I was lucky enough to hear them, to be the reason for their existence in this very moment, and for the rest of our lives, too.

If I had any say in it, and I did, I would make him sing for me every single day.

Casey turned his head, grabbing me around the neck and claiming my lips. His tongue teased mine as we deepened the kiss. Our first kiss had been soft and gentle. This was anything but. My mate was as hungry for me as I was for him, his tongue hot and slick and I felt fucking claimed by it.

It was my turn to moan, my cock hard against his ass where he pushed back against me. The tease. I rocked against his ass, imagining what it would feel like to finally sink into his tight heat. The thought made me stroke him faster, needing him to come.

He broke the kiss and groaned into my mouth, his dick spurting out cum, covering his underwear in it. I kept stroking him slowly, milking every last drop he had in him. I wanted it all.

We were both panting, but soon he broke into a huge smile, laughter following.

A clearing throat came next and I turned my head, already fearing who’d caught us.
