"Why are you asking?"
"Tell me, am I really a bad person?" Preet shakes her head at her giving a small smile to her.
"I don't think so," Anaya looked at Preet with heavy eyes.
"But I always behave badly with you then whyy??" Preet chuckle lightly
"I know but that doesn't mean you are a bad person. But yeah…you are really annoying and stupid," Preet told her with a shrug.
Anaya pouted at her and whispered,
"Really?"
"Umm hnn" Preet nodded and looked at her sad face.
"Why were you crying?" As soon as she asked, tears again formed in her eyes again.
"I broke up with my boyfriend," she said in a heavy voice.
"He wanted to have a physical relationship with me but I didn't want to. He tried to touch me so I slapped him and broke up with him," While explaining she started crying.
"You did good… then why are you crying?" Preet said, holding her hand in her.
"I really love him. We were together for three years" Preet sighs, looking at her with a soft gaze.
"Don't be sad. Everything happens for a reason. Now don't cry," she wiped her tears gently and made her lie on the bed.
Anaya sniffed lightly and closed her eyes, feeling them heavy. Soon she dozed off.
Preet sighed sadly at her and cleaned tears on her face. She stood up from the bed and was about to go but stopped as Anaya was holding the end of the dupatta.
A small smile appeared on her face. She freed her dupatta from her fist slowly and went out of the room, closing the door behind her.
Preet was ascending the stairs when suddenly her foot slipped on the stairs. In order to save herself, she holds the stair railing but ends up twisting her wrist and left foot badly.
She sat on the stairs and let out a loud cry of pain. Tears formed in her eyes in extreme pain in her wrist. She holds it and hugs it to her chest while silently crying.
She looked around for help. Not finding anyone she tries to get up, only to let out a painful scream. But somehow she reached her room crying and hissing in pain. Tears are flowing continuously from her eyes as the pain is increasing on her wrist.
She dragged herself toward her bed and sat on it. Raising her Saree, she look at her left foot which swell up slightly. She lightly touch it only to let out a painful moan.
Taking out pain relief balm from the drawer beside her bed, she applied it gently on her foot and wrist. They are hurting too much. She cry more feeling lonely and pain in this condition.
There is no one to console her and caress her head loving. Assuring her that she is fine.
Her phone started ringing on the table, she wipe her tears with the back of her hand and took it in her uninjured hand.
Looking at Veer's name on the screen, she felt heaviness in her throat and got emotional as she missed him so much.
Receiving the call, she heard his soothing voice which calmed her restless heart.
"Preet…" She smiled with tears and closed her eyes to control her tears.
"Ji," she breathed out, trying her best not to show her pain in her voice.
They stay silent for few seconds before Preet ask him,
"What are you doing?"
"Nothing, just finished my meeting. What are you doing?"
"Nothing just missing my husband," her lips curved into a small smile as he chuckled softly hearing her.
"I miss you too. Don't worry I will be back soon," she bit her lower lips to stop it from shaking. She takes a shaky breath feeling emotional again.
"Hmm…" she just hummed, not trusting herself as she knew she would break down if she talk.
"Did you have your breakfast?"
"Ye..yeah,.." she lied confidently. Or he would scold her and worry for her unnecessarily.
"What was for breakfast today? " he asked casually but she gulped and again lie to him,
"Sandwich and fruit salad," he hummed and said,
"I really miss home food here. I hate hotel food," he complained.
She laughs at this, finding him cute.
"I know but don't miss your meal, okay?" She smiled as he hummed.
"Don't do any work, just ask Malti if you want anything, okay? And try to stay away from Nani Ji, I don't the vibe she gave, "
"I won- ahh!!" she suddenly screamed in pain as she accidentally placed her injured hand on the bed to shift on the bed.
She quickly bites her scream back and grit her teeth hard to gulp down her pain.
"Preet! What happened? Are you okay? Did you hurt yourself? Hello Preet- " She cries silently and bites the inside of her cheek to control her painful moan.
"Yea..I am okay. Jus..just hit my leg with the table. Don't worry, I am fine," she assured him even in so much pain.
"Is it paining too much?" he asked worriedly.
"No, it's not paining," she lied.
"Take care of yourself, please" she felt bad, making him worry.
"I am absolutely fine. Nothing happened," she assured him and heard a deep sigh from his side.
After talking for a few more minutes, they hung up as he had to go somewhere.
Preet leaned back against the headboard and sighs, feeling her wrist throbbing in pain. After a while, she felt her stomach grumble in hunger. She looks at the clock to see it is one hour past noon. She hadn't eaten anything since morning. But now she is feeling hungry.
But how will she cook now with her injured hand? She takes her phone and calls their house helper to send her something to eat.
"Sorry, Ma'am but Badi Madam stops us from doing anything for you. She will fire me if I follow your order, Ma'am," The maid said helplessly and then cut the call.
Preet searches the drawer to find something to eat. She has a habit of eat snacks in every hour so she always had chips or chocolates in her bag and drawers.
Opening the last drawer of the side table, she found two milk chocolates. She smiled in relief and took them out. She ate them quickly but she still felt hungry. She drank lots of water to fill her stomach.
A tear slipped from her eyes at her helplessness and closed her eyes leaning against the headboard and soon she dozed off, feeling drained due to pain and hunger.
Preet limped down the stairs with difficulty as she was famished right now. She somehow managed to reach down. Her foot and wrist were swollen badly. As she walked into the living room to go to the kitchen, she saw Urmila sitting there reading a magazine but looked up hearing Preet's steps.
