Chapter 8 The Balcony Loop

That evening, I got hungry. I left the hotel and found a place for a late-night snack.

It had been so long since I last ate my fill. Tears streamed down my face. Having money felt so good.

After the snack, I headed back. On the way, I spotted a few people following me.

Lin Weiwei could not hold back after all. In my last life, she hired someone to run me over and kill me with a car.

This time, she played it safer. The staircase roll must have messed with her head. She brought several people at once.

I sped up my walk and studied the terrain carefully.

Soon I noticed a construction balcony next door. Flipping over it gave a two-meter drop.

No cameras either.

It was perfect. That day, I would make them climb and jump like zombies.

I locked onto the target and broke into a full run.

The men behind me ran too. I caught faint whispers. "Don't let the girl get away."

"Grab her. Alive."

I raced straight for the balcony, jumped over it, rolled on the ground, and took position.

The men jumped down one by one.

The leader grinned. "Little girl, nowhere to run now. Come back with us like a good girl."

I smiled at them and spoke silently to the Plot Replay System. Replay the scene of these men jumping down, 99 times.

The big men suddenly went rigid, as if possessed. They turned, ran back to the balcony, and jumped again.

They ran back and jumped again.

The loop continued. Some passersby stopped to watch what looked like parkour and took photos.

Occasional gasps of surprise rang out.

I stayed hidden and watched. Then I used the Plot Replay System's second function. Double speed playback.

The men immediately moved at double speed, running and jumping.

After more than a dozen repeats, one finally collapsed. He hit the ground headfirst, blood pouring.

Then another broke his legs and arms. Still he crawled back up, jumped, and repeated.

The crowd screamed.

"Ahhh, his hand is broken and he's still climbing to jump!"

"Brother, is he turning into a zombie?"

"Will he come bite us?"

While they argued, someone called the police.

Good. At least they were not completely brainless.

I slipped past the roadside cameras and left the scene. Before I went, I gave the Plot Replay System one more order. Triple speed playback.

The men sped up again, climbing and jumping.

The crowd scattered in panic.

"Damn. That guy's neck is broken."

"Even with his neck crooked, he keeps jumping?"

"Is this a real zombie outbreak?"

"I have cockroaches at home about to give birth. I need to get back."

"Shit, I should buy a chainsaw to keep at home."

They completed all 99 loops. By then they were battered meat, barely conscious. One had a snapped cervical vertebra.

Ambulances rushed them to the hospital. After emergency treatment, two were dead and four critically injured.

The police got nothing useful.

There were no nearby cameras, and the witnesses only described zombie-style parkour.

I was already back at the hotel, sleeping soundly.

The next day I went to the airport early and boarded my flight.

I watched the clouds outside the window and finally felt free.

I arrived early in the university city. I bought a house and moved my household registration there.

Every day I watched the Lin family of four and the nanny through the cameras.

I had only left to lower their guard. Now they were in the open and I was in the shadows. I could strike anytime.

I would play the four fools to death.
