Chapter 72 The Breach of the Sky

The collision of the Stone Key and the Prime Node caused a shockwave that flattened the garden.

The artificial suns exploded, plunging us into absolute darkness.

But the darkness didn't last long.

The Dead Zone was gone.

In a heartbeat, my magic returned—not as a fire, but as a flood.

The silver fire erupted from my skin, illuminating the chamber in a brilliant, blinding light.

Killian let out a howl that shook the foundations of the bank, his body shifting into the massive, shadowy Alpha form that had terrified the North.

But the return of our power came with a price.

Above us, the "Camouflage Frequency" died.

The city of Aethelgard was suddenly visible to the stars.

"They see us," Leo whispered, his eyes turning that brilliant, solid white.

Through the ceiling of the garden—through the miles of rock and steel—I could feel the Hive.

They were no longer weeks away. They were here.

A massive, mercury-hulled ship was descending over the capital, its underbelly glowing with a heat that was beginning to melt the glass of the skyscrapers.

Julian Vane sat in the dirt, his glasses broken, his eyes wide with a terror he hadn't felt in centuries.

"What have you done? You've killed us all!

"

"No," I said, standing over him, my hair flowing in a wind that shouldn't have existed underground.

"I've given us a chance to fight."

I reached into the Prime Node, my hands sinking into the purple energy.

I didn't try to stop the extraction. I turned the flow outward.

I used the Prime Node as a lens, focusing the life force of the city and the power of the three nodes into a single, planetary shield.

The silver light shot out of the Vane Spire, piercing the clouds and striking the mercury ship.
