15. Chapter 15

Mariana

The Sinclair Montt Family Chat

Mom: Landed safely in Seattle. I'm heading over to Cora's now.

Cora: Welcome, Mother. Can't wait to show you my condo! Food is waiting for you.

Mariana: I'm bringing the wine.

Cam: We're landing in Seattle tomorrow morning. Can we meet briefly before the game?

Mom: I'll be there early with Mariana. Her friends will join us later on.

Cora: I can't come, but I'll catch Cam and Luke next time.

Dad: Remember we're getting together in December. The place is rented already.

Maisie: We're coming from England. If we can, you all can.

Cora: Yes, ma'am!

Cam: We need a place of our own. Something we own as a family.

Luke: I think that should be the older brother's job.

Mom: Don't get cheeky, Lucas. Any of you could take it on.

Luke: :(

Mom: On my way to Cora's now.

Cora and Mariana's text chain

Mariana: Help me keep mom distracted from the subject of my love life?

Cora: What love life?

Mariana: My non-existent love life, of course. The one Mom insists on keeping an eye on for no other reason than because she worries I'll give up England this time around.

Cora: Explain to her all you're interested in is a dick tour. I should have used your cockboard for the appetizers. It would have been a great conversation starter!

Mariana: You wouldn't dare!

Cora: LOL fine, I won't.

Mariana: And love life and dick tour are not the same. I'm just too busy right now and, if I have to choose, I choose excelling at my job first.

Cora: Fine, fine. I get it. I'll support you regardless.

Mariana: I know. Thank you.

Cora: Bring two bottles of wine, just in case.

Dominic and Mariana's text chain

Dom: I'm still angry.

Mariana: Are you going to tell me why?

Dom: I told you why.

Mariana: What? When?

Dom: Recently. But I won't say more over text. All I want right now is for you to know that I am.

Mariana: I know.

Dom: Are you angry?

Mariana: I told you I'm hurt, not angry.

Dom: Okay, then. Good luck to us at the hockey game. We'll have to improvise.

Mariana: Good luck to us, indeed.
