CHAPTER THIRTEEN #4
I didn't respond, I just headed for the exit that Mya and Yah-yah walked out of. She was almost at the parking lot, shorty was moving fast as hell. I caught up to her right before she crossed the street.
"Yo, Ya'Mya, hold up."
"Leave me the fuck alone, Trigg," she threw over her shoulder without stopping.
"Nah. Come here." My voice was commanding, not asking.
"I said leave me alone!" She kept walking, heading toward a car where Yah-Yah was already standing by the driver's side.
I moved quicker, getting in front of her and blocking her path. She tried to go around me but I side-stepped, keeping myself between her and the car.
"Move, Trigg."
"No." I crossed my arms over my chest, looking down at her.
"You gon' stand here and listen to what the fuck I gotta say."
"I don't wanna hear shit you gotta say—"
"That's my niece." The words came out flat. She froze, her face going from angry to confused.
"What?"
"You heard me the first time shorty. Her name is Nova and she’s my niece. My lil’ sister Tasha's baby. Tasha locked up right now, so I got custody of her." I stepped closer, crowding her space. "And Kynessa is my sister's best friend. She helps me out with Nova sometimes. That's it."
Shorty’s mouth opened and closed. I watched the realization hit her, then I watched her face flush with embarrassment.
"Oh," she said quietly.
"Yeah. Oh." I tilted my head, looking at her with amusement.
"You really thought I had a whole baby and baby mama and was still coming at you the way I been?" She looked away with her jaw clenched.
"How was I supposed to know—"
"You wasn't. But you shoulda asked." I reached out and gripped her chin, forcing her to look at me. My touch was firm, possessive.
"Instead you chose to show your ass in front of everybody."
"You let me—"
"'Cause I wanted to see how mad you'd get." My thumb brushed over her bottom lip. "Wanted to see if you really felt some type of way about a nigga. And you did, didn't you?"
She tried to pull away but I held her there. "Let me go."
"Answer the question, Ya'Mya."
"Yes," she finally admitted, her voice small. "I felt some type of way. Happy?"
"Very." I let go of her chin but stepped even closer, backing her up against the car. She had nowhere to go now, trapped between me and the metal.
"You was jealous."
"So what if I was?"
"So that means you really feeling a nigga huh. Not just 'cause I made you cum." I leaned down with my lips close to her ear.
“Oh my god Trigg,” she blushed.
"You was ready to fight over me. That's cute."
"It's not cute—"
"Yeah it is." I pulled back to look at her face. Her cheeks was flushed, her breathing faster.
“Fuck you,” she growled. And I chuckled. She wanted to be right so bad, but she knew she wasn’t in the right.
"Look man, I told you what it was already. So stop questioning shit and trust what I tell you." My hand slid to her waist. "You understand me?" She nodded, biting her lip.
"Nah, use your words."
"I understand," she breathed out.
"Good." I leaned in closer, my lips brushing against hers but not quite kissing her. "Now you gon' get in that car, go home, and call me soon as you get there. And when you call, you better have that same energy you had when you was storming up on me. I want you mad so I can fuck it out of you."
Her breath hitched and I saw her pupils dilate. "Trigg—"
"What I say?" My hand tightened on her waist. "You calling me or not?"
"Yeah," she whispered. "I'll call you."
"That's my girl." I finally kissed her, slow and deep, my tongue sliding against hers. I felt her melt against me, her good hand coming up to grip my hoodie. When I pulled back, her eyes was glazed over.
"Now go." I smacked her ass, harder than last time, and she gasped. "And don't make me wait too long for that call."
She stared at me for a second, still looking dazed, before she finally moved toward the passenger side of the car. Yah-Yah was already in the driver's seat, watching everything with wide eyes.
Ya'Mya got in and I leaned down to the window before she could close the door.
"And Ya'Mya?"
"Yeah?"
"Next time you see me out somewhere, come say hi instead of assuming shit. Aight?"
She nodded, a small smile playing at her lips despite herself.
"Aight."
"Good. Get to the crib, I’ll call you lata."
Yah-Yah pulled off and I watched until they turned out of the parking lot. Then I headed back to find Kynessa and Nova .
My phone buzzed in my pocket. I pulled it out and saw a text from Sosa.
Sosa: Yo we got movement on that thing. Need you soon as you free.
Me: Give me a hour.
I put my phone back and headed to the car. Kynessa was already there, strapping Nova into her car seat.
"Everything good?" she asked, eyeing me.
"Yeah. We straight."
"Mmhmm." She closed the car door and turned to me.
“What?” I questioned.
“Nothing nigga, nothing at all. All I got to say is good luck with that one. She looks like she not gon play wit yo’ hoe ass.”
“I got this.” Was my only response as I started the ignition and pulled out the lot.
I didn’t know what was gon happen between me and Ya’Mya, but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t ready to embark on something with her crazy ass.
