Chapter 31
Ector
I had turned on the oven, hungrier than ever before. My body lacked flesh, and I was on the verge of breaking, my appearance fragile.
The cuts where my wings used to sit were infected, and it hurt with every move I made.
As I opened the oven, I tried my best to use the muscles I had left to get the oven tray out from the heat. Something I had forgotten before turning it on.
Not being able to hold it up, the feeling of my arms about to snap stopped me from holding it in the air with the kitchen towel blocking the heat.
The tray fell to the floor with a loud bang as the following sound.
I could hear my father’s heavy footsteps coming closer, feeling the energy shift in the room as his broad body stepped into the kitchen. It was impossible to miss the way his eyebrow twitched, leading me to fall to my knees, already knowing that he would hurt me.
“Is there anything you could do right?” He spoke with a mild tone that I had never heard before. My head snapped up in an instant. Could it be possible that he had changed?
The theory would soon be crushed into a thousand pieces.
His hands grabbed my arms. “This will make you learn.” He said with an angry tone, his evil smirk appearing on his face, the smirk that always came forward before he was going to hurt me.
And before I knew it, my arms were pressed against the hot oven tray, making my skin boil. A scream left my lungs in deep hurt and panic.
Tears were streaming down my face in an instant, and there was no way for my mother to stop this misery, she was long gone. But the fact didn’t matter when “Mom” was the only word that would leave my mouth. Hoping for a miracle to save me.
