Chapter Twelve #3
She’d just seated herself in the chair next to Brayden when Minnie reappeared. She stood in front of him, blocking his view, as she handed Scarlett a nondescript cloth bag.
“Thanks. What is it?” she asked as she accepted the bundle.
Minnie leaned in. “It’s a magic wand.” She winked.
Scarlett cocked her head. “Don’t you need it for yourself? I don’t want to inconvenience you or anything. I also don’t know how to use it.” She offered the bag back to Minnie.
Minnie smirked, holding her hands up in clear refusal.
She spoke in a low voice, with her back to Brayden.
“You’ll figure it out. It’s self-explanatory.
And I actually have two of these, so it’s no bother.
I won this in a game at a bachelorette party last month, and I already had one. ” She shrugged. “It’s meant for you.”
This at least made Scarlett comfortable enough to accept the gift. She set the bag down in her lap, feeling touched that this near-stranger was gifting her a wand. “That’s so nice. Thank you.”
Minnie’s eyes darted to the bag. “I charged it with magic, but you’ll need someone with a soul light to recharge it when the magic runs out. Maybe Brayden?” Her smile turned devious.
“Don’t open it until you’re alone,” Keeley chortled next to her. “And let us know how you get on after you’ve given it a bash.”
“Thank you,” she said, too embarrassed to ask how a wand was supposed to end her struggle to have an orgasm. Hopefully, Minnie was right about it being self-explanatory.
“Of course! Fate brought us together so I could help you thus,” said Minnie.
“What are you talking about?” Brayden poked his head around Minnie to see inside the small circle she and Keeley had formed.
“I’m sure Scarlett will fill you in.” Minnie shoved him away. “We’ll let you have some quality time with Bray,” she said to Scarlett. “Let’s have coffee while you’re in town, yes?”
“Yes!” said Keeley, jumping up and down.
“I’d love that,” said Scarlett. Then her face fell. “I actually don’t know how long I’ll be here. I have to get back to Soleil, but it might take a few days. I’ll get your number from Brayden though. It was so nice to meet both of you!”
Scarlett waved to them as they walked over to a group on the far side of the veranda.
“What’s going on with Minnie and Keeley? I hope they were nice to you.” Brayden glanced curiously at the bag in Scarlett’s lap. It felt like it might burst into flames at any moment she was so aware of it.
“They were so nice,” she said warmly.
“I’m glad.” He bumped his knee against hers. “Are you tired?”
“I am. Can we leave? Is that all right?” Her buzz was tinged with excitement to find out what the hell was in the bag.
“I have to be on base at 6 a.m., so that’s fine by me,” said Brayden.
Scarlett caught sight of James, who was engrossed in conversation. “Should we tell your brother we’re going?”
“Nah. He’s a big boy.”
Outside, away from the shelter of the tree house, the already cold night had grown colder. Scarlett shivered, goose bumps all over her skin as they climbed down to the gravel road.
She headed for the SUV. “Are we taking the car?”
“I’ll come get it in the morning. I know we’re five feet from home, but I had four drinks, so I’d rather not drive. Can you manage the walk? Or I could carry you.”
He was so responsible. Duh, they couldn’t drive.
She set off in the direction of the castle. “I can walk, no worries. As long as you stay between me and that forest full of ghouls.”
He grabbed her elbow, forcing her to stop. “Wait. Take this.” Brayden pulled off his gray hoodie and held it out to her. “I should’ve given this to you earlier.”
“That’s sweet of you.” As she took the sweatshirt, she fought the urge to bury her face in it. It was warm from his body heat, and once she had it on, she could smell him.
Fresh pine.
“So, Minnie and Keeley—what did you talk about?” asked Brayden as they began the walk back to the castle.
“Mostly my breakup with Alastair and some… issues I had with him.” She couldn’t look at him, even though she could feel him staring. Hopefully, he wouldn’t press her.
“What issues?” asked Brayden. “Something you’ve told me?”
“Not exactly.” She’d revealed the truth to strangers, but she couldn’t tell Brayden. Any attraction he might have for her would wither and die if she did. She also didn’t want to lie to him. “They gave me some advice about issues I’ve had physically.”
He grabbed her hand and threaded his fingers through hers. “Are you all right? Did you tell Dr. Bowen?”
“It’s not like that.” Her embarrassment bubbled over. His concern was touching, but the last thing she wanted to do was alert him to the fact she had a magic wand that was supposed to get her off.
“What’s in that bag?” He gestured to the cloth sack.
“None of your business.” She knocked their linked hands into him.
“Why won’t you tell me?” he whined.
She sighed, exasperated. “It’s a magic masturbation wand. Are you happy now?”
Chuckling, he dropped her hand and raised his own in supplication. “All right, all right. Keep your secret. I don’t have to know.”
Brayden walked her to her door. She would’ve been thinking about a good-night kiss if he hadn’t rejected her. Good thing she had a bag of reasons to spend the night alone.
“Good night.” Brayden leaned in and wrapped his arms around her. She closed her eyes, basking in the feel of him. It would be so hard to go back to looking at him through glass.
She forced herself to pull away. “Good night,” she said with a wave.
He blew a kiss at her as she closed her door.
Goddess above. They were a mess of crossed wires and mixed messages.
Alone in her room, Scarlett opened the bag and pulled out two boxes. Her brow furrowed as she stared at the larger one. It wasn’t a magic wand; it was a… vibrator?
She started to giggle. I thought Minnie was giving me a literal magic wand, and it was actually a sex toy. How funny it would be if she could have figured this out herself all along.
She opened the box and pulled it out. The toy was purple and penis-shaped, with a funny-looking pointy piece that jutted out on one side. Scarlett pressed the button, and it vibrated wickedly in her hand, which only made her laugh harder. The second box held a bottle of lube.
When she was done laughing, she undressed and got under the covers.
Lying on her back, she took the vibrator in hand and started to explore.
It was cold at first, but the lube created a nice slickness.
She pressed a button, and her eyes opened wide as the shorter piece hit her clit.
The sensation as it vibrated was like nothing she’d ever experienced.
An idea struck her. Pausing her exploration, she grabbed Brayden’s hoodie off the nightstand, put it on her pillow, and lay down again, closing her eyes.
Alone in her room, with Brayden’s fresh cedar scent surrounding her, she pretended he hadn’t rejected her earlier or said good night at her door. He’d followed her into the room, joined her on the bed, and kissed her.
She pulled him onto her and undressed him, surprising them both.
He slid into her, and Scarlett pictured his cock moving inside as she moved the vibrator, gasping when it grazed her sensitive clit.
Then he picked up the pace, burying himself in her, and a wave of something completely new arose within.
A deep heat pulsed as she pleasured herself, and her clit throbbed from the stimulation.
Brayden over her.
Inside her.
Losing himself with her.
Ahhhh.
Scarlett’s hips jerked as a burst of pleasure flooded her body.
She gripped Brayden’s sweater with her free hand as she came for the first time.
While she lay there in the afterglow, happiness radiated through her.
Her life was pretty fucked up, but at least this one thing was going right. She’d finally had her first orgasm.
