Chapter Twenty #4

He slid his fingers into her heat. “You’d better.” He returned his mouth to her clit, and that was all she needed.

She cried out, then tried to muffle it, shaking and shuddering and finally reaching down to grip his hair with both hands again and hold him in place. She tasted amazing, soaking his hand and lips as she clenched around his fingers with the strength of her climax.

Yes, he was definitely in love with this woman.

Blake dragged out her pleasure longer than she probably wanted, keeping her going with his hands and tongue until she finally started to beg for relief. Finally, he sat back and caught his breath.

God, she was beautiful, sprawled out across the mattress still panting and wild-eyed, wearing only a rumpled sleep shirt. She caught his gaze and smiled. “Thank you, sir,” she said, her voice a purr.

“Mhm.” He grabbed another condom from her nightstand. “You mind if I use you for my own pleasure now?”

It was a testament to this playfulness they’d built between them that she laughed. “I’d be disappointed if you didn’t.” She pulled off her shirt and tossed it aside.

With the condom on and his erection absolutely begging for mercy, he settled himself into the space between her thighs. At least he could tease her. “Now,” he said, “I’m definitely not going to let you come again, so don’t even ask.”

She made another of those wicked noises when he slid into her, but he could only drop his head and breathe.

This felt like home, like she was made for him.

He was already moving his hips, chasing his pleasure, filling her again and again.

They both had work to do today, but there were always lunch breaks …

and coffee breaks … and other breaks. Maybe he’d take her like this several times today, keep her wet and fuck her without letting her come.

Or maybe he’d make her come repeatedly until she begged for mercy.

Or maybe he’d wait until tonight, then lay her down and make sweet, gentle love to her all night long until neither of them could walk in the morning.

They were going to have so much fun together.

Pleasure built low in his gut, drawing steadily upward and outward, his orgasm gathering as his thrusts grew more erratic.

Maggie wrapped her legs around him, tipping her hips back to get him even deeper, and he groaned as the sensation spiraled through him.

“Go on,” she whispered into his ear, her lips warm. “Come for me.”

His climax crashed suddenly through his senses and he was lost.

Afterward, they lay wrapped in each other’s arms. He was exhausted and she had to be, too, but they lay curled together without sleeping.

Or at least, he wasn’t sleeping. She’d been quiet long enough that he wasn’t sure anymore. “You awake?” he asked at last.

She made a soft affirmative noise. “Just comfortable.”

“I’m glad of all this.” He hadn’t said it before, and he needed to say it out loud. “I’m glad it’s you.”

She lifted her head from his chest and looked down at him, smiling lazily.

“I’m glad it’s you, too.” Then she leaned in to kiss him, soft and sweet and tender enough to break his heart, or maybe mend it.

They’d have a lot more to discuss, of course.

About what they wanted from a relationship, and from each other, and how they wanted to build this precious thing together.

And they’d have a lot more boundaries to figure out and agree on, and interests to play with and discover, and a footlocker of kink implements, along with a nightstand of sex toys, to try.

Maggie settled back into the curve of his arm. She drew her fingertip in a circle in the crinkly hair on his chest. “I keep meaning to ask you. What’s that plant on your bureau?”

Blake grinned in surprise. “What? You want to talk about plants now? You’ve already got me; you don’t have to flirt.”

Maggie poked him in the chest. “I’m serious! I keep feeling like I’ve seen it somewhere and I don’t know why.”

Blake looked past her to the row of plants on his bureau. “Which one?”

“The one in the orange pot. In the middle. I was going to look it up in your plant binder but I didn’t have time.”

Blake spotted the plant, then grinned, drawing her closer into his arms. “That’s a scarlet pimpernel.”

Maggie stilled, then started laughing so hard her body shook. “What the hell,” she said when she could breathe again. “Is that where you got your name from?”

“It’s my favorite,” he said.

“I should’ve looked it up.” She sighed. “I could have figured this all out.”

“And where would be the fun in that?”

Maggie scooted up to drop a kiss on his lips. “I hope you don’t ever stop surprising me.”

The “ever” carried a sense of permanence Blake liked very much. Looking up into her beautiful eyes, he couldn’t think of anything he wanted more. He brushed his nose across hers, then pulled her back down into his arms. “I’ll do my best.”

They had time: time enough to learn how to be together, and how to be Maggie and Blake as well as Curious Rose and the Scarlet Pimpernel.

They even had enough time to create a whole future.
