62. Love Demands Truth. #4
I chuckled softly. "You kept taking those medicines regularly and expected me not to investigate? Too bad. I already did."
She sighed, looking down for a moment.
"I'm sorry," she whispered. "I just didn't know if I should tell you or not... or if it even mattered."
That sentence alone made something ache inside my chest.
"It matters," I said immediately. "Everything connected to you matters to me."
I gently brushed my thumb over her knuckles.
"Even a single strand of hair breaking and stressing you matters. So yes, this matters too. And from now on, you share things with me instead of carrying them alone, understood?"
She blinked softly before nodding. "I... Umm... have a doctor's appointment tomorrow." She looked nervous again suddenly. "So..." her fingers tightened slightly around mine, "will you come with me?"
Her eyes lowered.
"Bhai always used to go with me. It's not like I'm scared... I just..." she paused, struggling for words, "I just need someone beside me. Someone I trust."
The last sentence almost came out like a confession.
"So will you..."
"Of course I will," I answered instantly. "Isn't that obvious?"
She looked at me quietly.
"Umm... I don't know," she admitted honestly. "You're already dealing with so many things right now, so I thought maybe you'd be too busy..."
I gently lifted her chin.
"Dhwani," I said softly, "if the person I love needs me beside her and I still fail to show up..." I shook my head slowly. "Then none of those other things would mean anything to me."
Her eyes softened slightly.
"You don't have to earn care from me," I continued quietly. "You already have it."
She hummed softly while biting her lower lip nervously.
"I wanted to kiss you..." she whispered quietly. "Can I?"
A smirk pulled at my lips instantly.
"Come on," I murmured while pulling her slightly closer. "Who's stopping you? I'm all yours."
A faint blush spread across her cheeks at my words.
Then her hands slowly moved toward my neck before sliding into my damp hair. She tugged me down slightly toward her height.
Cute.
So fucking cute.
Her lips brushed against mine softly. Barely there.
And before I could even react properly, she pulled back immediately.
I stared at her in disbelief for one second.
Then a laugh escaped me.
"Fuck," I muttered, shaking my head. "You're such a tease, my cute mute ghost."
My hand instantly slid into her hair before I leaned down again and captured her lips properly deepening the kiss slowly.
The moment her soft mouth melted against mine, the entire day's stress blurred somewhere far away.
Her fingers tightened in my hair while my other hand settled firmly around her waist, pulling her flush against me.
And God...
No matter how many times I kissed this woman, it still felt dangerously addictive every single time.
Her one hand stayed tangled in my hair while the other slowly wandered over my chest and arms, almost like she still couldn't get enough of touching me.
I held her waist tighter and tilted her head slightly, deepening the kiss.
Slowly. Properly.
The moment her lips parted softly against mine, I kissed her deeper, tasting her unhurriedly while she melted further into my arms with every passing second.
"Bhaiya... the guest- OH MY GOD!"
Dhwani practically jumped away from me the second Dhrithika entered the room.
Meanwhile Dhrithika froze near the door like her soul had left her body.
Her eyes widened in horror before she instantly turned her face the other way.
"I- I..." she stammered nervously, covering her eyes dramatically. "I really didn't mean to disturb anything. I should've knocked. Oh my God. I am so sorry. So sorry. I am leaving."
And before either of us could say a single word, she turned and almost ran out of the room at full speed.
The door slammed shut behind her.
Silence.
Then Dhwani slowly looked at me with pure embarrassment written all over her face.
"Oh my God," she whispered, horrified. "She saw us."
"Relax. We were just kissing, not committing murder."
She smacked my arm immediately. "Yugant!"
"What?" I grinned shamelessly. "She's old enough to know married people kiss."
"That's not the point!"
Her entire face had turned pink.
"Just go downstairs. Your guest might've arrived," she muttered before throwing my t-shirt straight at my face.
I laughed softly while pulling the t-shirt on. "Alone?"
"Yeah," she replied while quickly closing the bottles of her paint colors, clearly avoiding eye contact now. "I'm coming in a few minutes after putting my things back properly."
"Alright..."
I walked toward her again anyway.
Before she could react, I leaned down and captured her lips one more time.
A short kiss.
Soft. Slow. Addictive enough to make her fingers pause over the paint bottles instantly.
I gently sucked her lower lip once before finally pulling away.
"So sweet," I murmured against her lips with a grin. "Come downstairs soon."
She stared at me for one second before pushing my chest lightly.
"Yeah... just coming."
