Chapter Eight. #2

“God gave them dreams and skills beyond lying on their backs and getting fucked. And you took them all away. That’s abuse.

Whether you realise it or not, you’re abusive assholes.

Did you ever ask what my dream was? No? You never fuckin’ asked.

I wanted to be a vet. Instead, you decided at seven years old that I was going to be your sacrificial lamb and become a nun.

You placed me in the hands of that sadistic monster who beat the shit out of me.

And even when you saw the scars in the pictures and were faced with my medical reports, you still denied it!

” I screeched, leaning into Marion’s face.

“Take that back about my sister!” Marion screamed.

“The fuck I will! It’s the damn truth, but you’d not accept it because you can’t deal with it!

You, Keith, and that bitch are all abusive.

And you three, you’re following exactly what she did.

Let me guess. She’s eyeing one of your kids to replace me already!

” I yelled at Edith, who paled. “How old is she? Have you talked to her about what she wants her life to look like? Or are you going to be Marion’s clone and force her into a future she doesn’t want? ”

“It’s better than being a whore like you!” Keith retorted.

I held Edith’s eyes. “Is it? I have free choice; I can choose a burger or steak. Nobody decides when I wake up or what job I do. Nothing is forced on me. If I want to attend college and be useful to society and not just to a man for my cunt, then I can. No one’s going to beat me for not remembering a certain passage in the Bible.

We are born with free will, and those two,” I point at Marion and Keith, “stole it from all of us.

“And you’re all doing the same with your children.

Grow a spine; protect the children you’re meant to love.

Have you three ever heard your kids truly laugh in sheer joy?

I bet you ain’t. And that is a crying shame.

Because every child should wake up excited and bounce down the stairs overjoyed to see their parents! ”

Edith and Catherine flinched. My words had hit home. Hillary kept praying—she was a lost cause.

“You might not like my lifestyle; you don’t have to.

But I live it on my terms. You get one shot at life; there are no second chances.

I’m going to enjoy it to the full. You carry on being dried-out husks and bitter bitches.

You’re miserable because you lack a spine.

Christ, your kids deserve so much more. Mothers who’d fight for them and stop this abusive cycle. ”

“That’s enough!” Charles cried out and started swinging. Before he landed a punch, Blue was there and launching his own.

“Nobody touches my woman!” he yelled.

Keith sidestepped him and reached for me, but Priest knocked him backwards. I watched Blue and Priest deal them both a beating they’d not forget.

My sisters and Marion tried to pull them off, but they met my real siblings, who slapped them about. My brother-in-law held his arms up like a true coward.

Blue put Charles on his ass and began kicking him. He was so lost in anger; he was at risk of killing him. “Blue, Blue, come on,” I pulled on his arm. Blue didn’t listen and kept going. Christ!

“Property, assume, kneel. Pet, kneel!” I bellowed. Blue reacted first and dropped to his knees, keeping his legs together and resting his palms face down on his muscled thighs. Seconds later, Priest followed. I ran my hand over Blue’s head as he stared hatefully at Charles.

“Good boys,” I praised. “That, assholes, is control, not through fear of punishment or being beaten into submission. It’s because they trust me not to hurt them; they can relinquish everything to me and know they are safe. That’s something none of you will ever understand.”

“Get the fuck off our land and don’t return. You do, and they’ll never find you. We let you off ten years ago; take the grace you were given and don’t piss on it,” Sapphire warned.

Blue bristled, and I stood between him and Priest, my hand on both their heads.

My former family picked themselves up and began slinking away.

“Are you okay?” Sapphire inquired, her eyes on me, not on the two kneeling men.

“Fine,” I replied as their cars peeled out.

“We’ll leave you to it,” Sapphire said, and my sisters followed her back. Several reached out and touched me to reassure me, and I appreciated it. Currently, I had two men who needed calming down.

I knelt and held Blue’s hands. He raised his eyes to me. “Touch me,” I ordered. Moments later, I was hauled into his arms as he ran his hands over me, ensuring I was okay. His fingers hesitated on my cheek, which would bruise from the slap.

“It’s fine. I broke his nose,” I soothed him.

Blue continued inspecting me before sitting back, satisfied.

“Pet, your turn.”

Priest plastered himself to my back as he, too, checked me over. Blue held my eyes as I retook his hands. He nodded, content that he was mine.
