Chapter Thirteen. #2
The implications hit me. “All of them?”
“Yes, and they all quit being nuns. You’re next on the list. He’s taunting you right now.”
“Fuck! Just my damn luck. Did my parents hire him?” I asked.
Wylde looked surprised at the question and shook his head. “We didn’t consider that he’s a hired killer. It’s possible, but my gut tells me no.”
“Those images, they’re real?”
“As far as we can tell, Nun,” Cassidy replied.
“Is my family at risk? Because if they are…” I meant my sisters, Blue, Priest, and the rest. Sapphire immediately understood my meaning.
“We stand and fight together, Nun. No running away to be a martyr. If you even try, I’ll have you locked up until this ends, hear me?” Sapphire snapped.
“Heard, Prez.”
“We don’t know if he’ll go after Blue and the others, so we’re bringing you all in. Better to be over-vigilant than risk someone’s safety,” Sapphire declared.
“I’ll start packing,” I murmured and spun around.
Cassidy took my back.
Sapphire
“She’ll behave for now, but I can’t guarantee how long,” I commented to Wylde.
“The problem is, the Feds will march in, throw their weight around, and cut us out. They’ll try to lock her down or use her as bait. As far as they’re concerned, Nun’s isn’t a high-value victim.”
“Because she’s RHMC.”
“Yeah.”
Wylde held my eyes. “Sapphire, you need to know. I’m working on several cases that have tenuous links to the Harlots.
There’s Kiki’s kidnapping, sure. Earl Gerrit marched Loretta in, and she confessed, but that man hates the club.
Earl didn’t want to bring her in, and he dropped that there has been a sudden death,” Wylde said.
“Yeah, one of theirs died suddenly,” I replied. I held his eyes and managed not to squirm.
“Yeah, conveniently after you rode to rescue Kiki.”
“She had a heart attack. Nobody can blame us for that. We never spilt blood, started trouble, or did anything. The bitch died from a poor life. We got Kiki back, and you got a closed case,” I responded.
Wylde didn’t argue; I knew he wouldn’t, but I saw the knowledge in his eyes. He was aware a sister had killed old Lady Gerrit.
“We’ve apprehended a drug dealer; he was selling contaminated baggies.
He can’t remember who beat the shit out of him, but he’s fuckin’ terrified.
Sapphire, he wakes up screaming from nightmares but won’t talk about them.
We’ve got over a dozen victims like him, including Jed Gerrit. Do I need to quit my job?”
I gaped at Wylde. I’d not seen that coming. “No. You’re fine. There are no solid links between my club and them.”
“Babe, there are connections, just no evidence.”
“Wylde, I’d never endanger you,” I promised.
“And I’d certainly not pick the job over you. Remember that.”
I smiled and rose to kiss him. “Let’s go get Nun before she takes matters into her own hands.”
“She can be an errant child at times,” Wylde agreed.
“They all are!” I exclaimed, referring to my sisters. Each of them had their moments. And I wouldn’t change a thing.
Nun
Okay, this was driving me up the wall. It had been five days, and I was getting pissed. The Feds had arrived and, just as Wylde said, tried a shitload of things, which all crashed and burned.
Protective custody? Nope. Not happening. Co-operate? What did they think I was fuckin’ doing? Help them catch the guy? With their track record? Not a chance.
They’d been disrespectful as soon as they learned I was in an MC.
Fuck them. I’d banged a complaint through Ramona, the club’s lawyer, and would only talk to Wylde and Cassidy.
While they were amused, it had caused tension.
There had been a few digs aimed at Wylde, which had been shrugged off.
I didn’t want to make things difficult. But I refused to co-operate with assholes.
Now I was agitated beyond belief.
I’d been imprisoned for five days, and even when I checked my bike, I had two sisters on my back.
I needed my freedom, and it was being denied.
As much as I shoved the emotions away, it felt like I was back at the priory, locked up and not in control of my life.
I struggled to handle it, and my sisters knew.
I was on edge, ready to lose my temper, and prepared to start a brawl. Blade and I had already gone a round in the gym, and we’d beaten each other stupid. Stitch hadn’t been happy healing either of us. I was spoiling for another fight and searching for a victim.
“Come on,” Priest muttered, appearing and hauling me up.
“What?”
“Move, I’ve got a surprise.”
“I’m not allowed to leave,” I ground out.
“Sapphire said you can’t go out in public, not that you can’t leave.”
“Well, I don’t want a walk around the building,” I retorted, and Priest snorted.
“I’m more likely to take you to the pool and drown you,” he replied.
“Wow, thanks, asshole,” I snapped.
“Nun, stop stalling. Your apartment now.” Priest shoved me.
Okay, now, I was intrigued.
When I got there, Blue was waiting, appearing as confused as I was. Priest pulled his phone out and dialled a number.
“Ready?” Sparrow said, appearing on his screen.
“Not fuckin’ sure about this; however, carry on,” Priest replied with trepidation. The room flashed; I felt a pulling sensation, and then we landed hard on the floor. Blue and Priest both retched and dashed for the bathroom as I gulped in huge lungfuls of air.
I was in my dungeon.
“Christ, Sparrow!” I yelled, swallowing with difficulty. “Warn someone!”
“You’re welcome,” she chirped and hung up.
“Tell me we don’t have to return that way!” Blue complained, leaning against the door, looking weak.
“I hope not. Priest, what are you doing?”
“You can’t go out in public, so I asked Sparrow to do this instead. Sapphire thought it was a great idea because she’s ready to shoot you,” Priest responded.
“Hey, I haven’t been that bad!” I exclaimed.
Both Priest and Blue rolled their eyes.
“I’m going to make you pay for that,” I warned.
“No, tonight I’m in charge. Blue and I have discussed this, and he’s willing to try,” Priest replied.
“Try what?” I wondered, and Priest smiled.
“Blue, strip and assume, kneel,” Priest said, and I gaped as Blue obeyed.
Priest wandered over to me. “Address me as Master, and you’ll answer to toy. I want you to strip and assume Nadu.”
I held his gaze before slowly beginning to undress. This was new.
