Flight

The carcass lays discarded. Spent. Used. New growth stretches and blossoms, open wings on air. From the lofty height beyond that empty shell, a vast horizon opens up.

Endless in all its possibility and ephemeral beauty.

New cells coast above the land that once fed that small beast. There’s a beauty in bidding farewell. An honouring of the darkness that fuelled growth in the shadows.

And this butterfly has waited long to touch the sky.
