Chapter 7 #4
When they got to Isabelle’s house, the help was off for the weekend.
John built a fire in the living room, and they spent most of the weekend in bed with sensual pleasures.
They bought groceries and cooked, and Isabelle remembered all too well now how much fun it was to have a man in her life.
She was glowing on the way home. She had thought of Helen but felt less guilty. They were alive and Helen wasn’t.
“Sex suits you, you’re an incredible lover,” he said, and she smiled at him.
“So are you, and tireless, I might add.”
“I have to go home and charge my batteries tonight. You wore me out,” he said playfully with a glance at her as he drove them back to the city on Sunday.
“I have some paperwork to do,” she said.
She had forgotten what it was like to have a man around all the time, eating up her time, and keeping her from things she needed to do.
She had been planning to get to paperwork for the accountant on the weekend, but she couldn’t with John around.
He needed constant attention. He said he had been starving for sex and human contact.
He dropped her off at her building and kissed her, she waved, and he drove home.
There was something he wanted to do too.
He was in a hurry when he got to his apartment.
He called Lillith as soon as he walked in.
She sounded like a voice from the tomb and she was shocked when she heard him.
It had been two weeks since she’d left him in St. Barth, and silence ever since.
His voice sounded deep, sexy, and remorseful when he spoke to her.
“I know this sounds awful, but I’ve been buried in business problems since you left, serious ones.
I’ve been trying to avoid a lawsuit. I wanted to get everything squared away before I saw you.
I lost track of time and it took longer than I thought.
I’ve missed you incredibly,” he said, sounding as upset as Lillith.
“I’ve left you a million messages. You could have called or sent a text,” she said to him. “I thought it was over. I’ve been heartbroken.” She sounded beaten instead of angry. Crushed instead of strident. It had been the worst three weeks of her life.
“I’m so sorry,” he said gently. “I’m back now. The business problem isn’t solved, but I’m working on it. I couldn’t stay away from you a minute longer. Can I come over?”
“Now?” She smiled when he asked. She didn’t know if she believed his story, but hearing his voice, and his wanting to come over, immediately relieved three weeks of her intense agony.
She felt as though she could breathe again.
Her anger and despair melted like mist. He was back.
He still loved her. And it wasn’t over. The nightmare had ended.
It was easier than he thought it would be.
And he had Isabelle now too, which made life much more interesting and exciting for him.
Two beautiful women who wanted him. One of them desperately.
“I love you,” he said convincingly to Lillith, with lust in his voice. “I’ll be there in twenty minutes.”
He drove to her apartment and she was waiting for him, with bright eyes and a smile in her pale face.
He could see how much weight she had lost in her agony.
She seemed even smaller than before. He scooped her up in his arms and carried her to her bed and began making love to her immediately.
She was more willing than ever, and starving for him and the reassurance he offered just by being there.
She was grateful for relief after three weeks of torture.
It was a game John loved to play, going from one woman’s bed to another in rapid succession within hours.
He hadn’t done it in a while and had missed it.
He had forgotten how exciting it could be to have two women in his thrall, wanting him.
It excited him and made him feel even more powerful.
He loved making men cry, and making women plead and beg for him and desire him.
He had never made love to Lillith as intensely as he did that night.
Isabelle had set the stage for him perfectly that weekend, and Lillith was reaping the benefits of it.
They were both easy victims, Isabelle because she was so kind and genuinely cared about him, and Lillith because she was so in love with him.
It was a scenario he loved, and it excited him sexually even more.
When he’d had enough of her, Lillith curled up in John’s arms with a sigh and fell asleep, and he lay next to her and smiled.
He had played the game with Helen for years with assorted partners, and only once she had suspected something and he convinced her otherwise.
It was a chess game for him. And now Lillith was the pawn and Isabelle the dignified queen, and he was the king of them all.
And a very dark king, which excited him even more.
He had been so bored for the past year, but now his life was fun again. It was one of his favorite games.
