Chapter Ten

Caroline

FANTASTIC FOUR: “Ladiessss, our girl Caroline is back in town and this girl needs a night out! Anyone down for a Melwood Tavern visit tonight?” *insert side eye emoji*

Kate fired off in the group chat, and as much as I have enjoyed wallowing, I really do miss my friends and need a night to catch up… and maybe a stiff drink. Or ten.

SYDNEY: “You know I’m in! What are y’all wearing?”

brEE: “You’re lucky you caught me on my day off! Caroline, I miss you mucho!!” Our friend Bree finally joined the conversation.

ME: “Miss you all!! I need a strong drink and a good girls night catch up. It’s been too long. I’m thinking comfy cute?”

To be honest, “comfy cute” is just about my only option right now and I don’t have enough energy to put on standing jeans.

Going with a simple black long-sleeved bodysuit and some more loose-fitting light wash jeans with holes in the knees, I lay my clothes out on the bed and dig through the shoes in the bottom of the closet.

It’s a good thing my feet haven’t grown since high school because the possibilities are endless in here.

I finally landed on the short black leather booties I was looking for and set them out.

Popping the tab on my can of Diet Coke and finding the ‘New Music Friday’ playlist on Spotify, I plop on the floor in front of the floor length mirror next to the bed and dig through my makeup bag while the straightener heats up.

This sure does take me back, but is quite an adjustment from the double vanity and glam team I had back in the city. I guess that life is over now.
