Chapter Forty One
Caroline
Holy orgasm. I managed to sleep in with just enough time to get ready for my appointment. I’m not sure if I slept so great last night due to my busy day or because I was writhing in pleasure from my first orgasm in a damn year. Either way, I woke up happier today than I have in a long time.
I roll over to see Reid is already gone.
His pillow is replaced by Poppy curled up in the middle.
I’m usually such a light sleeper, I’m not sure how I missed him leaving this morning.
I know he’s had to take a lot of time off of work lately though.
Between everything with his dad, moving and helping around the house and assisting me, he had warned me that he would have to leave early today.
I blush. Is this the treatment I’ve been missing out on?
8:06 AM - “Just got to the clinic. Taking my break at 10 so I can take you to your appointment.”
AND he remembered my appointment and is letting me play passenger princess again?
9:14 AM - “I’m hoping you’re not ghosting me from my own bed right now.”
That last one earns a giggle from me. I type out a response right away so that I don’t keep him waiting another minute.
Me: *ghost emoji*
Me: Justttt kidding. No ghosts here, just a very sleepy girl who decided to stay in bed until the last minute.
Me: Breakfast AND a chauffeur? Careful, you might spoil me too much and make me expect princess treatment from here on out.
I put my phone down and rolled out of bed.
He has me intrigued about what’s for breakfast. Sliding my fuzzy slippers on, Poppy hops off the pillow and follows me downstairs.
Only I end up following her when she runs past me in an apparent race that I didn’t know we were having.
She jumps up on the counter as I open the fridge to find my favorite overnight oats bowl packed and ready to go.
How did he know and where did he find one of these in this town? I’m too hungry to question it.
MEOW. This cat is yelling at me… loudly… in my face.
“What do you want, girl? Your bowl is full.” I bring my face to hers and show her the attention she is begging for, scratching under her neck.
Me 9:42 AM - “Help, what does this cat want?”
Reid 9:44 AM - “Blueberries”
Me 9:46 AM - “What the heck. How did you find that out.”
Reid - “Just trust me”
I take a small blueberry out of my bowl and place it on the table for her. She immediately knocks it off with her paw and starts chasing it around the house before sniffing and licking it. Well, okay then, guess that settles that.
After quickly scarfing down my breakfast, I throw on a comfy flowy dress.
I’m really just over pants at this point in my pregnancy and I have my first cervical check today so let’s just skip the extra barriers.
Before I can put more than a stitch of makeup on, I hear Reid’s truck pull in the driveway and give a quick honk.
I slide on my flip flops and grab my crossbody off the banister before heading out the door and locking it behind me with my new sparkly key.
