Chapter 43
“You are home Miss Roxy.”
Home, I think. Am I ready to join real life again?
I have to be. I unfasten the mask, open the door, climb out and pull my bag out too.
As I close the door, I hear my front door open, and a familiar tall blond man comes striding out.
Frank pulls away and James lifts me into his arms and spins me around.
I shriek in delight and all tension loosens from my muscles. I’m home.
James carries me along the path and through the front door, where he holds me up against the wall and kisses me deeply.
I lean into him and the kiss, letting it roll over and through me, familiarising myself again with my husband.
I’m home and he loves me, he’s missed me.
As I come up for air I see a suitcase at the bottom of the stairs.
Breathing deeply I ask, “Where are the kids?”
“They’re with your parents.”
“Why?”
“Because we have a long weekend away booked.”
“We do?”
“We do.”
“How come?”
“We need to get reacquainted,” he says kindly but I feel a tinge of regret weighing down on his words. They feel heavy on my heart.
“Ok,” I say uncertainly. Not sure if he is upset with me or where we stand right now. Has everything now changed between us?
“It’s been a big week for you, for us. I’m not losing you to eight men. You are mine, Rosie and I’m going to spend the next three days reminding you of just that.”
My eyes fill and I look into the haunting eyes of my husband. He knows what I am feeling and what I am going through. How? I don’t know. But I’m grateful he sees me and understands me.
“Where are we going?”
“Daylesford.”
“When do we leave?”
“Now.”
“Yes Sir,” I dole each word out slowly, smiling up at him. His eyes flash and I know I am finally about to meet the real Dom in James.
