Chapter 2
Vincent da Silva
The Greatest Hits of Tyler Warren pouring through my earbuds filled my brain with words of heartache, love, longing, and disappointment.
The whole trip from Alabama to Georgia when I snatched my sister and her kids from under her husband’s nose, she tried to get me to understand why she couldn’t stay away from Tyler, despite it putting a target on her back.
I tried, Vinny, you know I did. You saw me, you saw how much it was killing me. I love him, I can’t explain it. I wanted to forget about him. Jesus, look at everything I did to make this marriage work. He’s not who I belong with.
A sigh pushed through my nostrils, making them flare.
If anyone knew about being in love with someone they couldn’t have, it was me.
How in the hell could I be angry at her for buckling when I prayed almost every day for the same opportunity?
At least Tyler was willing to take a stand. It was more than I could say for Billy.
If I was going to put my life on the line for this son of a bitch, I wanted to know more about him.
Would he follow through? Would he be the man my sister needed, or would he walk when things got too hard because Edwina and Eddie were going to give him troubles one day?
Those two kids knew who their daddy was and that would never be Tyler Warren.
As his smooth, soulful, raspy voice crooned and infected me with the sorrow he’d felt the last decade, I cursed under my breath and bowed my chin.
My elbow on the arm of the chair, I rubbed a temple, the headache that had been tightening my skull the last couple days intensifying.
This man was head over heels for Violetta.
There wasn’t a doubt in my mind he was in it for life, given the chance.
Which was why I was here, sitting in Dash’s old bedroom.
Large enough to fit two normal sized rooms with a full ensuite at the rear, one half was set up for sleeping with a king-sized bed, dresser, and nightstand.
The side I was occupying had a wide desk, the wall covered in monitors, each one connected to a different camera that overlooked the entire, twelve acre property.
I huffed and sank further in the chair, crossing my arms while skimming the screens. I was never going to get my chance, so I was going to make damn sure she did. One of us deserved happiness with the love of their life.
I checked the time in the bottom corner of one of the screens and rolled my eyes. It was only two in the morning, and I’d promised Dash I’d take the first night shift so he could get some rest. I still had about four hours left before he got up to take over.
My fingers tapping my sides, I thought about him and what he was going through right now.
Just a few days ago, Wads and I buried his wife at the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta.
By now, I was sure every trace of her was gone, but he had honestly loved that woman.
As long as I’d known him, I’d never seen him so devoted to one person.
Hell, he’d even had a kid with her, something he’d sworn he’d never do.
In the midst of his mourning, he’d sent his daughter to stay with another member of the Serpents so he could help me save my sister, her children, and her lover.
Of course, no one knew what we were doing, though they were all aware we’d disappeared.
Jackyl, the leader, his wife and kids, and his two closest confidants all vanished in the same time frame; the gossiping was probably off the charts right now back home.
A trace of fear trickled into my blood when an image of The Boss formed in my mind’s eye.
The scandalous slander could fuck off, I could care less.
It was the man behind the Serpents, the ruler of us all, the most vicious, vindictive, ruthless man I’d ever met that had me low key terrified.
We’d not gotten his approval to leave town, and I seriously doubted he would have given it had he known what we were up to.
If we were successful in getting rid of Jackyl, our asses weren’t off the chopping block that easily.
We still had to face the infamous Boss. For all we knew, our fight for survival would be for naught, he very well could take us out as soon as we stepped foot on home turf.
Life felt so surreal right now. Never, once, in my “crazy possible bullshit” bingo card did I ever think Jackyl would be hunting me and my sister and their kids. Hell, we were all marked for death, every living being in this house had one foot in the grave.
Emotions clogged my throat, a pain I’d never experienced riddling my soul when I heard Tyler singing Before I Knew You.
Gulping past the constriction, I lowered my head and rubbed the spot between my eyes.
My little sister had an abortion when she was sixteen.
I still couldn’t believe that. These last couple days were proving too much, and I was at the edge of snapping into insanity.
Something had to give, I needed to release some of this pressure somehow.
Normally, a long trip to Lanett so I could sneak in a couple quickies with Billy behind his wife’s back would calm me down, but that wasn’t possible right now. With Jackyl out there, sniffing for blood, I couldn’t get distracted, even for a minute.
The song ended and my earbuds fell quiet, the album finished. The sadness from his tormented songs over the last ten years lingering, I pulled a long breath and held it a moment.
“Hey, Vin.”
Squinting, my sight flitted to the monitors. The room was dark, but the bathroom light was on, the door partially ajar to give just a bit of visibility. Since the bed was between it and me, I could see Dash’s reflection. He was on his side, lifted to an elbow.
“Hey, you see that?”
My insides plummeted. Had Jackyl found us already? My focus snapping back to the screens, I quickly searched but saw nothing. Skimming over the master suite, my pulse skipped a beat, my focus snatching right back.
Violetta was lying on her back with Tyler between her legs. Though the covers were partially shielding them there was no mistaking the movements under the sheet. She was fingering his ass.
My jaw fell, stunned she did that. There was so much more to my sister than I ever knew. Her whole life, I saw her as my little sister, helpless, scared, vulnerable. Ever since getting out of jail, she’d been showing a totally different side. Most of which I was proud of, but this…what the fuck?
“Hey, can you hear me, Vin?”
Too stunned to respond, I continued to gawk. Slow, sensual movements were quickly growing aggressive, Tyler dominating her.
“Oh, fuck, yeah,” Dash groaned.
Bristling, my jaw clamped and my sight shifted. A breath hitching the back of my throat, I held it, listening while staring at his reflection. He was lying down now, his fist pumping beneath the sheet. Holy shit, he was jacking off, thinking I couldn’t hear.
I moved just a bit to get a better view of his reflection, and he instantly flattened on the mattress, pretending he was sleeping.
Despite the situation, I couldn’t help the smile, recalling a different time in my life when Billy and I used to do this whenever we’d spend the night with one another.
Acting like I was scratching my head, I secretly removed the earbud so I could hear better.
After about a minute of me acting oblivious, his hand began moving beneath the sheet once more.
“Uhn, fuck yeah, fuck her harder.”
My brows lifting, I glanced at the proper screen. His hands were over the top of her head, and he was pushing her down with each thrust.
An elongated groan tickled my ear and every hair stood on end.
Something shivered down my spine and my chest tightened.
Bit by bit, my attention returned to Dash’s reflection.
His neck was arched, a leg bent slightly to the side.
He was pumping so fast and hard, I could actually hear the friction, his fist clapping to his pelvis.
To my shock, my balls tickled and my dick flexed. My panting shallowing, I was awestruck, my jaw slightly falling. Never, not once, had I ever gotten turned on by anyone other than Billy. Once, in prison, but by the time he’d finished sucking my dick, I’d been disgusted and thrown up afterward.
Shifting my position as slowly as possible to not draw his attention, my arm moved so I could cover my growing bulge. Just rubbing my fingers so he didn’t notice, I stimulated myself, listening to his groans and watching his shadow.
“Unh, shit. Mm.” He suddenly paused and panted, “Vin?”
My eyes rolled back at the way that sounded, my mind picturing him calling my name in pleasure, not concern. Adding pressure to just below my head, the zipper was pressing into my dick, enhancing the sensation while I continued to act like I couldn’t hear.
His fist was pumping again, getting more zealous. The mattress was now shaking a bit, his head in the pillow and his shoulders lifting to curl his spine. Fuck, he was so sexy right now. Jesus, I was so turned on.
Dash’s fist sped up, his shoulders lifting off the mattress.
Hissing through his teeth, he jerked and released another erotic groan that had every nerve in my body prickling with desire.
My eyes rolled and my lashes fluttered as I bit down on my tongue to suppress my own sounds.
Stroking my fingers harder up and down to force the zipper into my dick more, the release was building, my toes curling into the carpet.
He started coughing and grunting, his head swaying as his shoulders drew closer to his ears. “Unh, unh, shit,” he croaked, dragging the word out. Jerking violently, he fell into the mattress and started twitching, actually humping the air a few times.
The wave crashed over and I broke, my palm covering my bulge as I soaked my briefs with cum. Pretending my dick was making him jerk about like that and he was calling out my name had me reeling. Accidentally making a grunting sound, I tried to cover it with a cough.
Dash choked on a gasp and lurched to the side, his back to me. Tugging the sheet to his shoulder, he began fake snoring which almost had me laughing.
All the tension leaving my body, my muscles relaxed. Exhaling quietly, I closed my eyelids, my palm rubbing tenderly now. Sinking lower in the chair, I peered down my nose at the screen for the master suite. Violetta and Tyler were sleeping, their bodies still wrapped tightly together.
I frowned, sorrow gripping my chest. The last time I was able to do that with Billy was when we were sixteen.
That was fifteen years ago. In my heart, I knew I never would again.
His wife was holding him like that right now, as she had every night for the last several years.
As she would the rest of their lives. Until death do they part.
The tension building right back up, I leaned forward, snatched my smokes, and lit a cigarette, carelessly tossing everything to the desk.
Filling my lungs with nicotine, I held my breath until it burned.
I could either accept that loneliness and solitude was the price to pay for loving and being loved by Billy, or I could let him go and find someone else.
No matter what I chose, my heart was forever broken.
