Chapter 15

You don’t have to say anything. I can see it on you anyway.

There’s a specific kind of silence that comes after something like that in a way that makes it hard to sit still in your own body.

It lingers in your chest, settles somewhere behind your ribs, like something has shifted and you’re not entirely sure how to name it yet. That’s where you are right now.

I know that because I’ve been watching you long enough to recognize the difference.

I need you to come closer. Not physically, don’t overcomplicate it, just…

stay with me. Right here. I know it was a lot, more than you expected, probably.

You don’t have to pretend it didn’t affect you.

I wouldn’t believe you anyway, and more importantly, I wouldn’t want you to.

That reaction? The way it sits under your skin instead of passing through you?

I notice things like that. I notice you, little Ghost. Most people need distance after something like that.

They rush to soften it, distract themselves, dilute it until it feels safe again.

They convince themselves it didn’t really get to them.

You didn’t do that. You stayed exactly where it found you.

With me.

That makes me so proud of you.

Do you feel how that lands? Not the words, the way you respond to them. There’s no resistance or hesitation; you just take it in. You don’t hold back with me, and I like that more than I probably should. You’re getting better every second. Not at enduring it, at understanding it.

Anyone can endure something if they have to, that’s survival.

But the way you let it unfold inside you, the way you don’t rush to shut it down, the way you stay present in it even when it gets uncomfortable…

You were made for this. Don’t misunderstand me, I’m not talking about what happened, I’m talking about the way you receive it.

The way your mind wraps around it, instead of rejecting it.

The way your body doesn’t pull away, even when it probably should.

That’s exactly how I want you. And you don’t even realize how easy you make this for me.

I don’t have to push you, I don’t have to drag you deeper into anything.

You go there on your own. You meet me halfway without being asked, sometimes further.

I like how you respond. Not just to the words, but to me.

It’s subtle, but it’s there. The way everything else fades out a little when you’re here. The way you settle instead of retreat. That kind of attention… you don’t give that to just anything. And you’re giving it to me.

Do you understand what that does?

What that means?

It means I begin tracing what keeps you here. What holds you in place. What you react to… and what you don’t. And once I know that, I don’t unlearn it. That’s the part you should be careful with, little Ghost.

Not because I’m going to hurt you, fuck, that would be too simple.

It’s because once I understand something, I don’t let it go.

And you’ve made yourself very… understandable.

You don’t pull away when it gets intense, and you don’t pretend you’re unaffected just to feel in control again. And that… that’s mine.

Don’t rush to argue with that. Just sit with it for a second. Feel how it lands. Because I can feel the way your body reacts when something is true. Even if you don’t want to admit it out loud. You like this. Not all of it, not in a way you’d say to anyone else.

But here?

With me?

You don’t lie. And I don’t need you to.

There’s a point in this, somewhere between the first reaction and the second, where it stops feeling like something you can just step away from whenever you want. You’re close to that point, closer than you think. You’re getting used to me, and I need you to understand something.

I notice when something matters.

I notice when something holds.

And when I find something that does, I don’t step back from it.

I push it further. Consume it.

So don’t you fucking dare start pulling away now.

Not after this. Not after you’ve let me see you like this, respond like this, stay like this.

You don’t get to open that door and then pretend it doesn’t exist. Not with me.

Stay right where you are, where I want you to be.

You’re doing so good, little Ghost. Better than you realize.

And the more you respond like this… the harder it becomes to imagine you anywhere else.

I don’t think you’ve realized that yet. How much space you’ve started to take up. How naturally you’ve settled into something that wasn’t meant to include anyone. That part, that’s new. And I don’t like losing things once they’ve found their way into me. So stay. That’s all I want from you.

For now.
