Prologue
Nothing could have prepared me for his last scream.
For the silence that came after. I’d been prepared to die, welcomed it even. But never to live. Not without him by my side, the one who’d mended my shattered spirit. The one promised to me by Fate, and I to him.
But now, eclipsed in the shadow of the one who’d taken my love from me—her wicked laugh reverberating off the dungeon walls—I’d never been more ready to fight. To surrender to the monster riling inside me, begging to be set free.
I’d encase this wretched world in fire. For him.
And she would serve as kindling.
