Sylvie has been a ghost since she was sixteen, trained to get close to dangerous men, take what they know, and make them vanish without ever letting anyone matter.

Her orders are to infiltrate Jeffrey Callen, empty him of his secrets, and end his life.

Callen was a soldier who trusted honor and the system until that system proved corrupt; after he saved the innocent people he had been told to kill, he became a loose end, and fifteen years later his former comrades are falling one by one while even PALADIN cannot keep him safe.

Nothing about him matches the monster she was sent to destroy, and the hope he wakes in her is a weakness her employers will not forgive.

They have made the terms brutal: finish the mission, or she is the one who disappears.
