Cowboy Night: A Solid Start?

Have you heard the news? There was an attempt at creating a pulse in town on Friday night, and while the heartbeat isn’t exactly strong enough to dance on the tables just yet, there are definite signs of life.
A certain blonde Chamber President rolled out the first official Cowboy Night at the Sapphire Saloon, and let’s call it what it was: a solid start. Not a stampede or a revolution. And I, for one, cannot wait for more.
Bozeman sent a small delegation — a handful of brave sorority girls in brand-new boots who’d clearly never two-stepped with real cowboys in their lives—and the local boys showed up showered and presentable for once. I’d call that progress.
BEST MOMENT OF THE NIGHT: The blonde president and her auburn farrier sister delivering a shrieking brunette and her hair-tossing friend directly to two unsuspecting ranch hands at the bar and then laughing so hard they had to hold each other up. Was it matchmaking or a test?
BUT THE TABLES TURN: A certain aftershave-drenched ranch hand from the ODRR holding court at the bar with the shrieking brunette, grinning like he’d won the county fair. Meanwhile, a certain auburn-haired farrier watched him from across the room with the look of a green-eyed beast.
Jealousy is a strong perfume, darling. Stronger than whatever he was wearing.
SPOTTED: The sweetest cowboy in the Grove, cutting in to dance with the event organizer herself. One song. Two-step. Close enough to share a secret, but far enough to call it friendly. He walked out alone afterwards. She stayed and pretended she wasn’t watching the door for more signs of him.
FINAL TALLY: A few phone numbers exchanged. One couple spotted leaving together. And one very determined blonde at midnight with a look on her face that said, ‘Next week this event will be even bigger.’
I believe her. And so should you.
Spread the word, Forest Grove. Cowboy Nights are just getting started.
